Chicken and the Egg Ratings and Reviews
Arrogant, pompus, and rude are the words I would use to describe my experience at this restaurant.
I gave this restaurant a second chance and boy did I regret it.
The waitress was very rude, even out right lying about certain things.
The food was mediocre at best. In fact we didn't eat of half the food.
The manager I talked to was arrogant and condescending. He never apologized about our many concerns. Or even acted like the customers were as important as he was.
There are too many places that serve eggs and toast. Go somewhere that actually has good food, and appreciates you and your business.
We we're celebrating a Birthday and even put it in the special request section, but it was never mentioned.
My first impression was that no employee there was happy. No smiles or energy.
I ordered the pimento cheese appetizer, it never showed up.
The Belgian waffle was excellent I could have eaten two of them, I Wish I could say the same for the biscuits and gravy. It tasted mostly like flour and dough.
The others in the party ordered different items. I was told the burger with the fried egg was excellent, as we're the fries.
The afternoon nap was good, nothing special.
The kids meals had small portions but we're ok.
The sausage was tasty, as was the bacon.
I think We only received a refill on one of our drinks, mine, and it was the wrong drink.
Our waitress seemed like she didn't want to be there, but that was consistent with all of the employees we meet while we were there. It was an overall feeling of "blah".
I will probably give this restaurant one more try. I think with better service it could be a great place to eat. Although probably not for a special occasion.
My daughter and I ordered the chicken and waffles and 2 orders of scrambled eggs from the menu. Once the food arrived, we immediately cut into the waffles only to discover they were cold; not lukewarm, but cold. When I brought this to the waitresses attention, I asked if they were made fresh. There was an awkward pause so I asked, “are they frozen” and she hesitantly and apologetically acknowledged that they were.
I find it very disappointing that they would serve frozen Belgian waffles instead of waffles from a fresh batter, especially at a price of $13 and another $4 for 2 small scrambled eggs.
It’s a nice, family environment and the service is fair, but the food was not. 😟
Went here for a quick bite to eat. It's close to the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park and also the North Georgia State Fair grounds. We made a reservation on Open Table and were seated pretty quickly with only a 10 min wait. The wait staff was responsive and attentive.
Seriously obsessed with this place! Today was my first time. My boyfriend and I booked a table last night (on OpenTable app) and were seated immediately upon arriving (after being warmly welcomed). Our server Morowa was so cute and so attentive. She was almost as excited as us that it was our first time and immediately gave appetizer and drink recommendations. We listened to her- getting the fresh WARM banana nut bread (5 bucks) and crisp prickly pear mimosa (3 bucks!!!). Amazing!!! We ordered the Afternoon Nap (bacon, sausage, hash brown casserole, grits, 3 eggs, AND a biscuit) and Chicken n waffles. AMAZING!!! Both were out to us in ten minutes hot & fresh and devoured within minutes. Unlike most brunch places, we did not feel sick and disgusting after but rather satisfied and planning our next visit. Not to mention the atmosphere was to die for - I was already discussing how I want to have my birthday brunch there... IN MAY! Hahaha. Thank you to the staff who truly appreciated us being there. We will be back! Probably tmrw.
This was our 2nd visit, and we've finally decided we won't go back. We absolutely love the atmosphere and ambiance, but that's about it. We had a reservation, and still had to wait 15-20 minutes to be seated. The server recommended specials that weren't even available. After asking for an order of biscuits, we were given ONE biscuit. The food took a long time to arrive, and it wasn't very hot. That was the issue the first time, and we assumed that was a fluke. Unfortunately, this seems to be a consistent issue.
We really enjoyed this restaurant. It was a little pricey, but the good was outstanding. Loved the atmosphere and the wait staff was very friendly. Didn't understand why they don't serve their water with ice, but other than that, we gave it 5 stars. Would love to go back for breakfast/brunch.,
I have never had a meal at Chicken and the Egg that didn't leave me astounded. I got the Fried Green Tomato Benedict, and had to take a moment to collect myself after the first bite. The flavors are complex, familiar, and creative; I didn't want my meal to end!! I always recommend CATE to friends and out-of-town visitors.
CHICKEN AND THE EGG is a nice change of place to go you for something a little different. However, it is not a good place for conversation unless you are prepared to YELL at each other. You end up getting conversation bleeds from 2 table away as everyone tend to get louder to over-shadow the fact that they can't hear each other.
The food is not always as you "think" it will be. Example: A Crab Omelet seems like it would be whipped eggs stuffed with crab meat. What you get is a fluffy egg "disc" with some creamy concoction that has some crab meat in it poured on top of the eggs. It actually look s pretty disgusting but taste better than it appears. If you are one of those "texture" types, you won't like it.
For brunch, I requested a cappuccino - since they had a nice commercial machine sitting at the bar. However, the server told me that they were instructed to let guests know that cappuccinos could not be made. I noted that I could see the machine with a steam wand on it sitting at the bar, and he said "oh, they only use that for hot chocolate....sorry!" How odd!!
Cocktails are small and pricey. Although tasty at times, I have yet to feel they had any decent amount of liquor, but more fruit, juices, water, etc. Stick to water, tea or soda.
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary with a Sunday brunch. The service was attentive without being over bearing. I had the French toast and bacon with a side order of the has brown casserole. My wife had the poutine.
It was our first visit and it was very good. The restaurant is very large but not loud.
We have added it to our 'list' of restaurants and will be returning for dinner.
