Guess is nice to try it out but definitely don't have to go back..food was ok...i will take waffle house over this
Biscuits were either over-cooked or old. Not good at all compared to our last visit.
Chicken-Fried-Steak and Chicken were over-done.
My waffle was cold and toasted very hard that the butter wouldn’t even melt. When I sent it back I asked for French toast instead. They brought another waffle instead. At least she said sorry. My drinks took forever to be served. I love this place but this is the 3 rd time I had to send back the waffle. I think I will only order chicken and French toast
Not worth a review !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We came here to brunch after having competed in a local track meet, so we were hungry. The restaurant was very noisy and lively, but we got seated right away. Our server brought us coffee. We wanted the crab cakes benedict I saw on the online menu, but it is not on their current menu, so we were disappointed. My husband and I both ordered the crab and crawfish omelette. I asked if I could have mine without artichoke hearts, since I do not care for artichokes, but our server told us that artichokes were in the mixture. I got it anyway and it tasted fine with all of the other flavors coming through.
1st time we have eaten here. Breakfast was yummy. All 4 of us got a different dish so we could share and we were not disappointed. Would definitely return.
It is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant! We enjoy dining there a couple of times per month. It is also a great place to take friends for a good meal and conversation!
Overall, our experience was ridiculous. While the food was delicious, we waited over an hour to be seated when we had reservations. Once seated we waited another hour for our food to come out. Our server didn't check on us once, or refill our drinks (which took 30 minutes to come in the first place). There was no reason for the below average service because by the time we were seated it wasn't even that busy. Will not be returning.
Historically we have had great experiences at C&E, however this Sunday brunch left a lot to be desired mainly due to service. We made a reservation and were seated at a small table next to a very large group instead of one of the multiple (and more private) booths (which remained unseated for nearly an hour). Our waiter was basically non-existent. He barely spoke above a whisper and displayed zero enthusiasm about being there. There was no explanation of the drinks offered beyond water nor any input on the food menu. Once food was served, there was no return to the table to check on us or to remove the tableware no longer needed. We even built a mountain of appetizer plates, main dishes and silverware in the middle of our tiny table to help. Beverage refills were offered only after the meal was finished. If the restaurant/waiter was overly busy, I could be more understanding, however I watched our waiter clear and clean 2 nearby tables for over 5 minutes before he walked off and still didn’t check in with us.
Excellent food and service. The place can be a bit loud when full but otherwise incredible restaurant!
Place has really gone downhill. This used to be my favorite brunch spot and I would go every Sunday. Food is now sub-par and service was meh. Waited 20 minutes for the server to come back and get the check. Not what it used to be.
Great service, menu options and value!
We were completely ignored for 20 minutes after getting a table (not even served water). The only reason our waitress came to our table was because my boyfriend had to grab someone. I had a very hungry toddler with me so speedy service is a priority for me. Took another 20 minutes for my boyfriend to get a Bloody Mary he ordered and another 10 minutes for the waitress even get our food order.
Every time I have come here the service and food has been phenomenal. Would eat here everyday if it were socially acceptable to do that
Delicious food. Friendly staff but they are consistently understaffed—always a wait for drinks at the bar.
After driving an hour and a half, my family and I visited Chicken and the Egg. This was a day where there were only 3 tables of guests, other than ours. This was our first time to ever visit this restaurant. Our waiter was great & the host was nice. Our appetizers were hot & delicious! But when our food came out, it was not up to par. My sister’s & dad’s waffles were cold, but chicken was hot. My short rib was cold, and so were my sides. My mom’s steak was dry & not flavorful (they ran out of what she ordered, so she ordered “chef’s choice”) & her mashed potatoes were cold. But my brother’s pasta was hot & he said it was great.
We made a reservation. We arrived at the restaurant and were still forced to wait more than 30 minutes for a table. The coffee served was cold. We asked for hot coffee and never received it. It was a disappointing experience. I’ve eaten there often before. Early on the experience was great. Quality of service is on a steady decline. We were most disappointed.
The food service was exceptionally fast. Sunday brunch was very much a success.
I am conflicted about recommending this restaurant. While I enjoyed the ambiance & the service, the food was entirely lackluster. We started with fried green tomatoes which were fine, nothing exceptional. Everything on the menu sounded great so I ordered the crawfish & crab omelet. Flavorless! I added salt (which I rarely do) , black pepper & even their homemade hot sauce which was also underwhelming. Nothing brought the flavor out. My friend has the breakfast poutine which she said was “OK”. The craft cocktail of grapefruit juice & cocktail was very refreshing & packed a punch! The service was very accommodating even as we stayed to talk well after the brunch service & before the dinner service. The thing this restaurant really needs is a good chef!
Great as usual and totally worth the drive. I especially like their service. I’ve always been greeted warmly and treated kindly. Plus, I’m kinda addicted to the peach jam. Great food . They have a great menu variety for brunch.
The environment was nice but we still waited almost 30 minutes to get seated with a reservation. Food was missing and we asked for no gravy on a country fried steak. They took it back and came back with it soo burnt. We think they just wiped the gravy off and flash fried it again. My kid's food was missing bacon and they didnt bring any sides we asked for even asking twice. Hard to get any attention from the servers.
Service was very slow and the restaurant was not busy. Drinks took a long time to come to table. Once food was ordered it came out quickly.
We’ve been going to this restaurant for years but it’s showing it’s age. The booths have torn seats and the entire restaurant is looking tired. We came here for our anniversary and didn’t really get much attention of that fact. We put this information on the open table site just to give them a heads up....it didn’t matter, they are definitely not geared up for special occasions. Probably our bad. We just thought this year we would go to a local restaurant i.l.o the fancier Rays on the River or Capital Grill. We’ll go back to one of those next year for our 40th. It was an underwhelming evening to say the least. BTW, too much salt in their dishes to amp up the taste and my wife and paid the price that night and we are not usually salt sensitive. We don’t know if they changed ownership.
Wonderful place. Very good service, very good food. The one issue we had was that pretty much all of the options were Southern comfort food. That’s of course fine, but a couple of extra “healthy” options would be good. (The one “healthy” option was grilled salmon with a quinoa salad that included an ingredient my wife doesn’t like. She ended up getting the next “healthiest” item, which was shrimp and grits - which was delicious, but of course very rich.) All in all though, we enjoyed it very much, and will be back.
Our waiter, Nick, was super - very attentive but not too much. Enjoy going out to a restaurant where you can have a conversation with your table mates without shouting. Food was great, well prepared and expertly presented. We go to Chicken and the Egg any time we have something special to celebrate.
Great food. Fun family atmosphere! They always put the customer first.
This was the best place for brunch. I can’t wait to come back to dinner.
The wait to get the food took a long time and we waited 35 minutes past our reservation time to be seated.
The portions on the egg benedict's were small. My skillet scramble was tasteless. Pricy for what you get & very noisy. Would not return.
Made reservations for Father's Day but waited an hour before we were seated. Other than that, good dining experience.
Yummy food, good service and a nice fathers day brunch.
Too stingy on portion size...flavor was better than average...slow to sit down with many open tables...
The food, service, and atmosphere are always excellent!
great chicken and biscuits. really enjoyed brunch. mimosas were cheap too
We took friends from Ohio to C & E on Saturday night. A burst pipe wiped out cook at home plans and we ended up glad it did. Our guests both ordered the schnitzel. Being from Eastern European heritage, this set us up for a hard critique from them. They were floored as to who good the schnitzel was and sang praises to it all night. The range of this restaurants cuisine skills are impressive. We have never not had a good meal there. My wife and I were pleased to share this Marietta gem with some Yankees.
Every time I go to Chicken and the Egg the food is always delicious. Even my picky three year old loves it! Prices are reasonable and service is good. No complaints!
We went for my daughter-in-law’s Birthday. Loved the food, atmosphere and service! So much fun!
The Thursday special is the best. This is our go- to date spot.
Always awesome and I like deal 2 for $25
Thank you chicken and the egg!
They were very accommodating even though we arrived close to their time to close for brunch. The service was good and the food delicious! We loved the mango mimosas for brunch especially :)
