Chicago Prime Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
One of the best restaurants around. Superb steaks and all the extras. Better than all the rest. Excellent staff extremely helpful and perfectly attentive.
Comfortable and a great fit for romance, family dinners, special occasions, business, etc.. The steaks are absolutely EXCELLENT. Top notch chefs.
It is a bit pricey but so worth it. Have had our Christmas family dinners there and it is the perfect choice. Will be back soon. We love it!
I ordered the shrimp dejonge. It was soupy. I couldn't really taste the shrimp...it was more like a sea of liquid with mush in it. I was very disappointed. The only fish option was salmon... that was disappointing too. I had hoped to have any white fish for New Years. My
2nd time I have been there and they put far too many tables in the room. My seat was overlapping the seat on the table behind me.
So they had to pull the table away from the other table but that created less space around the table. So all dinner we had servers and people bumping into our seats.
A “high end” steak restaurant has to make the experience enjoyable and it was not. The greed for revenue must give was to the need for a pleasurable dining experience.
Disappointed from the minute we checked in . They insisted they did not have our reservation even when I showed them the confirmation on my cell phone, the young woman continued to ask if I made them at their other location, when clearly she was not even reading the location in my phone. Then some guy says no problem I have a table for you and proceeded to seat us in the BAR! Sorry that's all we have, really? We would have just left but it was New year Eve and where would we go at last minute. Food was not what others rave about, had better steak at Longhorn for goodness sake. All over bad choice.
We've come to this restaurant for New Year's Eve the last 3 years.
This year we had a party of 6.
The partial booth with 3 chairs was not the best space for 6, so this was disappointing.
The waiter was very attentive.
Everyone enjoyed the food and drinks.
I get the cowboy steak every year and it was cooked to perfection.
However the $65 price is high compared to other steak restaurants.
I've had a bone in ribeye at Wildfire that's equally tasteful and $30 less.
This year they also removed our favorite appetizer, which is the marinated shiitake mushroom.
The side dishes were lacking flavor.
We may consider another restaurant next year.
Definitely a restaurant for special occasions not weekly.
We had an early New Year’s Eve dinner here and the service was great even though the place was packed. Our server provided us with a full set of markers and a coloring book so our 2.5 year old daughter had fun coloring , however I can not say this place is kid friendly: no plastic cups available and no kids menu. As far as food: it could be due to a New Year’s Eve reduced menu, but just about all appetizers were seafood related, soup of the day which was included with the main course was also seafood, too bad my husband and I are not fans of seafood. Steaks were great. Overall I would recommend this restaurant.
Our waitress was lovely and the saving grace of our experience, but the food was awful. We started with the beef carpacio, which was overwhelmed by the cheese on it and the meat was paper thin but tasteless. The shrimp bisque was nothing special. Wedge salad had an overabundance of blue cheese on it. And finally the tomahawk ribeye for two was so off-putting. I was so excited to enjoy a tomahawk and I had good expectations, the meat was tender (a medium rare) inside, but the outside was so charred that I couldn't enjoy the taste of the ribeye at all. I was just eating it as quickly as humanly possible to get the meal over with to leave. It was so unfortunate because I could make a wonderful cast iron steak that tasted 100x better than this and not feel guilty about spending money on it
The whole night was great! Service was top notch! ( thank you george ( and george:)) ). Food was wonderful ambiance perfect and noise level quiet enough so we could actually carry on a conversation ( thank you! )
All in all a five star experience!!! We will be back!!!

Our first Christmas dinner out and so pleasantly surprised! Happy staff, bustling crowd, cozy and festive. Don’t normally think tenderloin filets have much flavor but mine was fantastic! Creamed spinach was great, wine selection very nice. Our server was gracious and professional. We’ll be back!
Had Dinner with Mom at Chicago Prime Steakhouse. Place was packed. Service was great all around. Food was amazing. We didn't have steaks. Mom had the Lobster Tail & I had the King Crab Legs. Couldn't have asked for a better experience for the holidays with Mom.
Had to wait 45 minutes for a table even though we made our reservations 2 months ago. I heard from friends who went to their sister restaurant Chicago Prime Italian that it was due to Open Table reservation system and that is why we had to wait so long at Chicago Prime Steak. Regardless, it was clear they double booked early reservations because the 6 and 6:30 tables waited for at least 45minutes to an hour. Food quality was poor. Will never go back. Can’t wait for Cap Grille to come into area!
Food was stone cold. For $343 we should at least get hot food. And to top it off, the best service of the night was the valet. The food runner plopped our food down and we waited 5 minutes for the waitress to come handout food until my aunt started handing everyone’s meals to them. I’d give 0 stars but the valet was a great young man and he saved the night by opening the door for all the ladies.
We were not seated till 1 hour after our reservation time. The table we originally got was a table for 2 or 3 and we had 4 people (2 guys 6’5” and 2 gals). The hostess who sat us said it was romantic table. We then asked for another table and it seemed like it was a chore for them to do it, but they did.
Food only ok and expensive.
We had to wait 20+ minutes for our reservation. Got seated, finally ordered. My steak Diane came out raw ( ordered medium) had to send it back and it still came out way under cooked. The service was poor. Overall 2nd time we tried it and will not be back. Too many wonderful steakhouses to go to that are far better and much cheaper. For the price paid it should have been perfect. Far far from it!!!
I don't know if it was because of the holidays or just poor management but if this is how this restaurant is run I am surprised it is still open. On a friends reference we tried here at the end of November and had a good meal at the bar. We joined their club and had high expectations. Our first meal at an early 5:15 on a Saturday was terrible. I requested Sam as our server(recommended by our friends) but was not given him or an excuse why not. I am four weeks out of having my knee replaced and am walking with a cane and was taken as far back into the restaurant as I could see. No other tables where available except for the 5 we passed on our way to our table. Our table was jammed in between 4 person tables made up for 6. We where bumped and our stuffed knocked out of our chairs by staff walking past in a hurry.
We both ordered the Prime rib king cut and mines had to be sent back because there medium well was blood red. My wife's slab of meat looked more like a chuck roast than prime rib and cut about as well. I believe that if you make reservations through the restaurant you may get what you want but through Open table forget it. They had no intentions of good service, just push you in and out. Another meal like this one and I will be happy to write off this place.
Food was ok....nothing really impressive. Waiters are pushy, in fact I asked one to bring another round of drinks and leave us be for 15 mins. Ordered appetizers and before they came, were pushing for entrée orders. We were from out of town and went there because of reviews. Must say, the nicest person, was the owner, who was friendly and seemed very caring that we had a good experience. Older crowd.
Have been here twice now and I'm blown away by the service. You can tell from the host stand, service staff, kitchen, and management team all take great pride in their restaurant. Constantly checking tables and seeing if guests need anything. I love this place and will continue to go for special occasions. It is pricey, but very reasonable as compared to other similar Chicago steakhouses. Food was fantastic both trips. Was even given complimentary keylime pie as we were celebrating our anniversary. I can't say enough great things about this restaurant and all of its staff!
