We loved our waiter and the food was delicious. Our only complaint was the noise level and how close the tables were to each other. We consistently had waiters or busboys behind us or going by bumping into our chairs . We look forward to going back in the summer and sitting outside! The patio looks lovely and less crowded! Great food and service! Highly recommend!
After reading a bunch of reviews on Steakhouses I settled on a reservation at Chicago Cut. It overlooks the river and is close to everything downtown has to offer. As with many reviews of this restaurant, I concur, its very expensive. If you aren’t afraid to drop a minimum of $300.00 plus for a great steak for two then this place should be on your radar. The dining room is open concept and lively ringing the air with many conversations and laughter. If a quiet dark place with privacy is on your mind, this isn’t the spot. Our server was a professional. Full of knowledge and recommendation. He was also a salesman and knew how to extend your experience so to speak. Not that we minded his demeanor, we were pleased with many of his suggestions. As for the food you ask? World class quality. Everything was absolutely sumptuous. Mouthwatering an understatement. I had the bone in 16oz filet and I ate every last atom of it. The closer I got to the bone the more I was blown away by the depth of the meats flavor and texture. Beyond the obvious reason ( steak ) to visit Chicago Cut are the vast wine selections and their signature appetizer “Lobsterscargot”. Imagine a creamy, cheesy, garlic soaked piece of the most tender piece of lobster meat atop a toasted crostini. I have to wipe the corners of my mouth just now as I write this. A must try when you go. Further to my first impression was the shock and awe when I noticed the jaw dropping Holy Grail of Chicago, their Prime Rib. The table next to us featured three guests all about to try and defeat the I don’t know how many ounces each steak was worth. So to finish off this review I will end in saying, wow we loved it and will remember our experience time and again. Thanks to our server Drew for a great evening full of laughs, incredible tastes and the memories. Cheers!
Our Waiter-Owen--was exceptional. Made the lunch that much more inviting!
Awesome! Wonderful spot for breakfast, food was delish!
Such an awesome place!!! Was recommend to check out Chicago Cut by a family member and it did not disappoint. Humberto was more than helpful throughout the night and would come back just to sit in his section again! Food, drinks, ambiance and the kindness we were shown was all stellar. Cheers!
Excellent food - steaks and side were cooked perfectly. We also had a great view of the river. With the bill, I was reminded of big city prices. Regardless I would still return.
Corporate dinner. Wonderful service, excellent food, delicious desserts.
Had one of the best steaks I've ever eaten at Chicago Cut. Our entire meal was absolutely delicious, from appetizer to dessert. The service was fantastic, our waiter was patient and knowledgeable. The only drawback here was that our table was very small and we had to sit very close to the two tables next to ours on either side (booth seating one side, chair on the other) and the restaurant was pretty loud. It was challenging to have a quiet conversation above the ambient noise of chatter and eating. However, this didn't detract too much from the experience, which was lovely. Would definitely visit again, highly recommend Chicago Cut.
We spoke at length with the owner Matt Moore after our meal and he was fantastic. A truly genuine and friendly individual that we chatted with about London (where we’re from) and his move to Chicago and experience in New York. The construction of the bar area is terrific. We will always be repeat customers here for dinner.
Provide menu for alcohol beverages/kids friendly menu.
Wonderful service from Lindsey complimented the great food! This place never disappoints!
It is always a pleasure at Chicago Cut for Sunday breakfast/ lunch. The food quality is excellent and the wait staff is friendly and first class. We are never disappointed and this is a favorite. It never seems crowded at this time of day and day of week but would recommend rsv anyway.
The eggs Benedict varieties are excellent but so is a breakfast steak and plain old bacon and eggs. Fresh juices and fruit is a great start as well. Take a Sunday in loop and try it. Most is ala cart so pricing can jump up...but life is short. Go when the verandah is open when weather breaks. You won't be sorry.
Great as always!!
Every item of food, especially the filets, were over salted to the point of inedible. Very disappointing. Tried to force it but couldn’t finish half. All others at the table expressed the same concern and also couldn’t choke it all down. They did comp some desserts as a result of the inedible beef. Nonetheless, would’ve preferred a more properly seasoned filet.
My steak was under cooked. I had requested a carrot cake for my fiancé’s birthday, but got a chocolate granche cake. The cake was good, but if I’m going to be charged, I’d rather have gotten what I requested.
Great evening, great food, great service. Look forward to going back!
Excellent steakhouse with some of the best professional service in Chicago. My wife and I have been for brunch so we thought we'd try dinner pre-theater which was truly excellent. The extensive wine list has wonderful selections to complement anything on their varied menu which, although really a steakhouse, has excellent seafood choices too. It was busy even though we were there early so reservations will be a must!
The entire experience was wonderful, from entrance to exit. Each member of the staff we encountered was friendly, welcoming and attentive. The steaks were phenomenal! There were six in our party and each of us thought it was the best steak we had ever had! Will definitely go back!
Side dishes , whipped potatoes and lobster Mac and cheese, less than fair, had the 10oz fillet, wish I had a scale.
Amazing place and the view was wonderful!
Steve was a phenomenal server and made the experience so worthwhile!
My wife and I went with 2 friends for an evening meal; Andrew, server was helpful knowledgeable (he recommended a great lower priced Pinot Noir rather than the highest priced) and friendly at the right level. We had a table at the window, overlooking the river. We all had Beef, (not a surprise) and all seemed very happy with meal. In addition, we had 4 vegetables, no salads. All dinners seemed very well prepared and presented, (as normal portions are huge vs. what we actually need....I wasn't able to stop at a reasonable level, others did). The vegetables were good, and more than sufficient for the 4 of us. It is LOUD, seems as if all restaurants are seeking this feel, with high noise levels, so be aware. Conversations across a smallish 4 top were not easy. All in all a good meal, but as expected, expensive.
I enjoyed the food and service but they rushed us through our dinner and out the door as soon as they could. I get it, they need to turnover tables but this was to the extreme. First time in 46 yrs I have been rushed out of a restaurant.
This place is a little overrated in a sea of steakhouses in Chicago. Way too noises for a business dinner, sides and salad just okay. Mac and cheese was yummy. Nice large menu with great servers.
Food was good, but the service was incredibly rushed considering the price charged. Food came quick, and felt like they were trying to turn the table. Not ok when you are paying as much as we did for dinner. Wines by the glass were overpriced.
Excellent restaurant, delicious cut meats, the service was delightful. The other tables were a little noisy for us, but it doesn’t matter. The cocktails were a little strong for us, but good. Definitely We should go again.
10th Birthday for Son
Great service very personable- Stephen made us feel right at home
Great! Enjoyed our meal!
Too noisy and the steaks were tough and grainy
Best service I have ever had. The food was amazing
Great place...great food....great staff...
Came early so no one was there. Had great service and a table looking at the water which was nice. I had the 8oz. filet and it was excellent. My husband had the bone in filet and he just thought it was good but not worth $74. Truffle potatoes were amazing and so were the Brussels sprouts. Overall dinner w two drinks each was $275 which is a bit pricy but great experience.
A great high-end steakhouse with a great view of the city skyline and the nearby Chicago River. Too expensive to visit often but definitely worth visiting on occasion.
Service was amazing!
Food was delicious and ca't wait to go back!
A wonderful location right on the river.
The steak was not cooked as I ordered it, medium well.
Send it back and they overcooked it and it was chewy and tough.
Worse steak I have had.
Service and food were excellent. The only thing is that it gets loud when it gets crowded.
This place is a great place for really good steak.
The service was swift and friendly and the wine list had a broad selection from different countries.
The only thing I would say is the cook on the steak leans to the less done, so something to be aware of. The rare's were blue in the middle. They fixed it happily!
Go here for a very good steak!
Everything about this place was amazing! I was looking for a steakhouse that was a local establishment and not one of those high end chain restaurants. And this place fit the bill to a tee. Top notch from the start to the finish! And whenever I am in the Chicago area I will plan to make Chicago Cut Steakhouse a must!!!
Our server, Humberto, was excellent all evening. His recommendations were spot-on and his table side manner was light-hearted, yet very professional. All of the staff were phenomenal, and our interactions with both the front desk team and GM, Emidio, were great!
Steak temp was perfect, presentation and coursing exceptional, and I've got to throw a shout out to the shucked corn side on the menu right now. Definite a must-have.
Will definitely be coming back through when next in Chicago.
