Chicago Cut Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
I came to Chicago for a business trip and this was by far the highlight of the week. The service was exceptional. I had the bone in ribeye which was one of the best steaks I’ve had in my life. But the real secret was the truffled scalloped potatoes, all 4 of us at the table were unanimous in saying they were to die for. Simply amazing experience all the way around, and I haven’t even mentioned the extensive wine list. If you are in Chicago you must find time to stop at this gem.
We enjoyed our time at Chicago Cut once again. Celebrated a birthday and everything was perfect! Drive from Louisville KY for a long weekend which included nice dinners and basketball.
Chris Whiteside gave tremendous service very prompt and attentive. Also very funny! Steaks and all the trimmings were spectacular and just the way we liked them. Cosmopolitans and gin and Tonic were perfect.
Noise level was high but lots of energy in the. Room and we didn’t mind because we were celebrating! Could still talk and share!
Thanks again and tell Chris hello from McAfee party of five on Monday night Nov 13,2017 @6:30
My friend and I started with Foie Gras, then split a Delmonico steak and an order of scallops to create our own surf and turf. The Brussels sprouts were the perfect accompaniment. Every bite was more delicious than the one before it. The atmosphere, the Christmas decorations, and the wonderful view all combined to make it a truly enjoyable evening.
My husband and I went to your restaurant for his birthday based on reviews from Coworkers and radio ads. I have to say that this was a very poor experience. Service was ok, but very slow. Waited for our check almost 30 minutes. My husband ordered his steak rare, and it came out medium. He sent it back, and they cooked his next steak blue. Beyond how it was cooked, the steak was tough, and had the biggest tendon I have seen running right down the middle. I will not recommend this to anyone based on the poor quality of all the food.
The dining experience ended up being nice, with good food, a nice bottle of wine, and attentive service by the wait staff. The evening didn't start well though - although we had a 6:30 pm reservation and had arrived on time, we were not seated for 40 minutes. While waiting for our table we met two other couples who were experiencing the same wait. If we had had an engagement afterwards we would not have been able to wait.
As an apology the restaurant did provide complimentary appetizers, a $56 value.
The bar was packed, otherwise the restaurant might have considered seating us there and buying us drinks while we waited -it would have helped if we didn't have to stand for 40 minutes ducking waiters and the trays of food they carried above tbeir heads.
Obviously management has made a decision to overbook; this is a policy that should be reviewed. it turned a what could have been a 5 star experiene into something less.Had it not been Saturday night or my 20th anniversary I would have left, and I will think twice before dining there again.
The food was wonderful! We had a 5:30PM reservation on a Saturday and we were rushed through our dinner. There was also one error in what we ordered but they took care of that on the spot. If we would not have been so rushed they would have received a 4 if not 5. My only other comment is the tables are very close together so don't think about having a private conversation.
Chicago Cut provided a perfect night out! I had the filet and my husband had the bone-in ribeye. We agreed that they were the best steaks we've had in our 15 years in Chicago, and the blue cheese fondue was an unexpected pleasure. The service was top notch from start to finish and the ambiance of the room was surprisingly tranquil for a busy Friday night. The dining room was packed and the vibe was electric, but somehow, we could still easily hear one another talk. We would also recommend the East coast oysters - the "sauces" they served alongside were an excellent compliment to the fresh, briny beauties. And if you are a oenophile, this is definitely the place for you. Their wine-list-on-a-tablet is searchable by location, varietal, vintage, price, and more!
A special shout out to the hostess. As can happen on a Friday night, my husband had a conference call that ran late. I called the restaurant 15 minutes before our reservation and told them we'd be 30 minutes late and that we'd completely understand if they needed to give our table away. She could not have been more gracious. She said to relax and that she could move our reservation back 30 minutes. She turned what cold have been a damper on a planned date night in to a wonderful evening!
I️ had the 10 oz filet and it was incredible. My wife’s filet was over cooked, but the server and manager quickly resolved this issue and had a replacement filet brought out fast. The staff here were great.
The restaurant had a great ambiance and decorated for the holidays with a great view of the Chicago River.
My husband and I were celebrating his birthday. The food and service were amazing. But it was not conversation-friendly. By the end of our meal when most of the tables were occupied, we could not hear each other even though we were sitting right next to each other.
Too much a good old boys club for me. Food was excellent with the exception of recommended split pea soup. I was told I would love it if I loved ham. I found no ham in it, not even a shred. Very disappointing, as it’s always on the menus. He never did come back to check on his recomendation.
A friend had the scallop special, agreed she should have asked price. It was delicious she said, however $50.00for lunch. It really is a business account place. I believe we were probably one of the few who paid our bill out of pocket, perhaps the only. Specials should include the price.
Steaks were delicious, not sure if I will hurry to return
Did not like how cramped the tables where to each other. Another guy was literally leaning against my chair in an unpleasant manner. Also, extremely loud and hard to carry a conversation with our dinner party because it was challenging to hear. I would not recommend this for evening meals.
This is a great Chicago River North place for Sunday brunch--it was so good that we need to go back for dinner. The room is bright and airy with nice views of the river and the staff were all friendly and concerned that we would enjoy the experience. We had special beignets to start courtesy of the chef which were just about as good as you can find in New Orleans and my poached eggs and hash was top shelf. My wife had the crab benedict which she commented was probably the best she'd eaten. We concentrated on breakfast items but the lunch menu looked great too--for another time! We will DEFINITELY return.
The waiter was not as friendly as the last time we were there. The first time we went the waiter was amazing, and the food was impeccable. This time, our waiter seemed bothered to talk with us. We were there for our 10 year anniversary and that wasn’t even acknowledged until the end with a small piece of cake for us to share. It would have been nice to have been able to select our own dessert. One of our appetizers was over cooked leading it to be tough, rather than tender as it’s meant to be. Our vegetable side was also undercooked, borderline still raw, so not as delicious with our steak. The steaks were still absolutely delicious and cooked beautifully. For the money that we spend there, EVERYTHING should be impeccable every time though.
We went for our anniversary. I choose Chicago Cut because I had previously had 3 great lunch experiences there. The experience tonight, however, was negative.
That said, when we ordered a drink that my wife did not like after one sip, We asked for a different drink. When we did, the waiter had a negative attitude and was not friendly the rest of the night. The waiter acted like he was offended by not liking a drink that tasted like grapefruit flavored cough syrup.
The waiter later suggested we here for a birthday, my wife said it was our anniversary. Instead of simply saying congrats, the waiter said “that’s like a birthday”.
Although it was a special occasion, we were seated next to the waiter’s computer, which was busy and uncomfortable.
The food , while ok, was mediocre for the price point. The room was beautiful but loud.
My wife and I went here for our yearly night downtown, away from the kids. It is very loud in there due to the cramped space and feels more like a business meeting steakhouse than anything. Not recommended for couples trying to have a nice meal together. We were bumped continuously by the staff as they were trying to tables in the middle of the room.
My wife ordered the 6 oz filet and whipped potatoes and she thought it was good, not great. I ordered the "holy grail" and crab mac n cheese. The mac was great, but half prime rib was tough and stringy and the fatty half was perfect.
Overall, it was a loud, cramped experience, with good food, just not for the price. There are better steakhouses downtown and many that are better for couples.
Really wanted a thick cut piece of prime rib for my birthday, and the Holy Grail did not disappoint. Although my wife and I made a late in the evening reservation to ensure some peace during dinner, we arrived early for a cocktail. The bar was quite crowded but we were lucky enough to get two seats after a few minutes. Max was outstanding behind the bar, so we stayed for a couple before moving to our table. Our server, Nemo, was as professional as they come, and extremely attentive. He double checked with the kitchen to ensure the steak I wanted was still available, and when it finally came out, it was perfect. It was a great night and we will return again soon.
