Chicago Cut Steakhouse
We planned to dine at Chicago Cut on Easter because the weather forecast indicated that it would be a nice day and wanted to dine outside. When we made the reservation and requested being seated outside, there were no notifications indicating that the patio was closed for construction. Also, there no indications that the menu would be buffet only. Finally, they ran out of prime rib.
I have been to Chicago Cut more than 30 times over the years. But, will not go back to for a holiday brunch.
The tables were soo crowded it was hard for staff and guests to go back and forth to the buffet.
The buffet room was like a holiday inn conference room. Not at all decorated or appetizing.
The food was surprisingly good.
Our service as as good as possible under the crowded circumstances.
I did see many tables received a free glass of wine and we were not offered anything.
We probably won’t go back for brunch.
Food was prepared perfectly however our server had a table of 12 and we were prioritized below them. Other servers filled our drinks, delivered our food, filled our glasses, and cleared the table. A gentleman that wasn’t our server brought out after dessert drinks on the house and delivered with a message saying thank you for your patience. Otherwise the food was absolutely fantastic.
They have my most favorite dish in ALL of Chicago, Lobstercargot. OMG. If you don't get the lobstercargot you are a fool. The service is always impeccable. The steaks are well-prepared, although the cajun isn't as cajun as you'd expect it to be. We also really liked the mac and cheese side; my daughter had it as her main meal, but the whole family thought it was delicious.
Everything was amazing! The food was excellent and the service was top notch!
The service here is amazing! The view is great as well! However, in my personal quest to be able to have my own opinion and recommendations of Chicago's best steakhouses and many recommend I dine at this establishment. For the price point I expected more...better. They offer amazing pairings of seafood and steak and other entree options. On my night (a Friday) the seafood wasn't as fresh as I hoped, no amount of butter, nor cheese can mask freshness. My scallops were also overcooked. The steak (8 oz filet) was aged and cooked well...very tender. There was a random sauce that accompanied the steak on my plate...it was awful, but it was served on the side so no impact on the star of the dish. I will give this another go, sometimes it's a bad night. And I can make a full assessment once I have ordered more items on the menu. I know the prices won't change though. Lol
Fantastic dinner, great service
Chicago cut has one of the best steaks I have enjoyed. Bone In filet was outstanding. Only slight issue is the restaurant is rather loud
Our server was fantastic but communicating with the hostess/reservations was really frustrating.
The young lady answering the phone was frantic and kept interrupting me to loudly ask "What...what...what?!?!?"
We took my friend to dinner who had been in a serious car accident just a few months ago. She broke her neck and the doctors did not know if she could walk again. Now she is walker free!! This dinner was to celebrate her getting out of her live in rehabilitation facility and all the hard work she has done. Erin in Events typed out a personal message for my friend on the menu. The staff and service was impeccable and at the end of our meal they sent out a dessert and champagne toast for our table. I cannot speak highly enough of Chicago Cut. The food was incredible, ambiance is next to none and service is the best I've ever had. Living in Chicago, I can say that I've dined at pretty much every steak house and Chicago Cut is the best one I have ever been to!
Ask for Katie. Very nice. Did her job exceptionally well.
Excellent and delicious food, vacuous wines, friendly service.
But just too cloud and noisy when we had dinner on Friday.
The service was amazing! The view was nice and the food was perfect!
Always a great experience
Loved Chicago Cut.... staff was great, Marco was great. Food recommendations were on point. We got there before the dinner crowd....sat right next to window. Overall....loved and would go back again.
The dinning room was extremely loud and crowded. We primarily had steaks and five appetizers at the table. It was appreciated that the staff made plates for each diner on 4 of the 5 appetizers. However, this was not discussed and left each diner with less of the specific appetizer than they wanted. Food was warm but not our of the oven hot which made it cool quicker. I would give it another shot but not for a business dinner at this time.
Yes everyone enjoyed themselves the only down side was very noisy.
Returning to the Chicago Cut was a real treat. When I lived in Chicago, it was my favorite. And, it still has won my heart.
My friends and I had a glorious night. Our server, Nancy, was superlative. Beverage service was quick and well poured, and leading to the main event, some delicious first courses. But THE CUT. One of my friends thoroughly enjoyed his Porterhouse, perfectly cooked with delicious sides, and two of us enjoyed the Bone-In Ribeye. Equally superb. We still had room for a little dessert and the homemade pie a la mode was exceptional.
Really good food, good service, nice ambiance, we had a pretty good time but a bit noisy
Food and service are outstanding! Must order the “lobster escargot”! Could be one of the best apps ever-not joking. Lots of garlic but worth it.
I had the center cut barrel filet cooked perfect medium rare with Bernaise on the side. Friends both had sea bass. Incredibly good.
Go to the bar, see Jack the blonde bartender. He’s the best too. Great kid.
Excellent experience all around!
I went to Chicago Cut for a business meeting with two other people. We all ordered Medium burgers that were supposed to be dark pink throughout. The burgers we received were well done. They were fully brown throughout the patty and dry. All three of the burgers were done this way. For an $18 burger in a steakhouse, overcooking three burgers this badly was shocking. I likely won't return to Chicago Cut for a while since there are several better options in Chicago.
our experience was very good, I had the bone-in filet, it was on par with others that I have had and was not disappointing, my wife was equally pleased. We will return the next time we are in Chicago.
I was disappointed with our meal here. The service was great. I had the skirt steak and it was a beautiful piece of meat but way too salty (and I'm a salt person). The truffle scalloped potatoes were way too truffly. I couldn't eat them. And it was so loud, we had to scream to speak. So all in, I was disappointed.
The food and service are good to great. But the noise was very very bad. We could not speak to each other.
Wait staff was amazingly attentive and made me forget I was dining alone! Food was so good, overeating was must because I couldn’t leave any of that deliciousness behind!
Service was amazing and the food was fantastic! The prices are worth the value of the food. Highly recommend to anyone in Chicago.
Great service and awesome food. Loved our servers!
Oh my, where to start? Chicago Cut was recommended by a friend who warned us that it was pricey, but worth it. She was right. We ended up arriving an hour early and were told we could be seated immediately, which was great. Our server, Nemo (like the fish, he said) was amazing. I struggled to choose between the sea bass and halibut, but Nemo guided me to the sea bass and it was the best I have ever had. I think the cream sauce was what made it special. My husband had a small filet and it was perfectly prepared. We shared the truffled scalloped potatoes and a creme brûlée for dessert. Wine list is extensive and Nemo was also very knowledgeable in suggesting pairings. LOVE this place. Gorgeous dining room. We'll be back.
Been to a lot of high end steakhouses. Service was great but overall when it came to the main course I was not impressed. The ribeye was cooked to a good temperature, but the seasoning was poor and the marbling was not smooth and melt in your mouth like you would expect with beef of that quality. It was more chewy.
Over all I enjoyed the experience, but I would not go back and spend money on the high end steaks. I would probably go with a filet or something else. The bone in, dry aged ribeye didn’t do anything for me.
Chicago Cut never disappoints!
Lindsay Hedrick is awesome.
Ribeye wasn’t that great
Outstanding bone in filet
I raved to my client about the burger. My order of medium rare came out well done and a rather small portion. Had a burger at Rosebud Prime yesterday which put yours to shame. Doubt I’ll return to your establishment. It’s over rated.
Simply Beautiful meal. The service was phenomenal. Kevin was amazing and knowledgeable, and he impressed my daughter as well, because he didn’t ignore her or condescend to her, which we have gotten a lot of when eating at finer restaurants.
Pricey...but well worth it. Great meal and service..
The restaurant was lovely. The ambiance and service were great. We ordered the French onion soup, shrimp cocktail and filets. The shrimp was good but a little tough. The cocktail sauce with fresh horseradish was delicious. The French onion soup was very good. It could’ve used a little more cheese. The disappointment was in the filet. It was cooked perfectly and was an excellent cut of meat. Unfortunately, the flavor of the steak was bland and almost non existent. We come from Cincinnati where Jeff Ruby steakhouses are king. The quality of the meat is the same as well as the dry aging. The difference is the actual seasoning/flavor. The whipped potatoes were divine but for $15, there should’ve been a decent amount. I almost choked when I saw the serving size. There was enough for maybe one person but certainly wasn’t close to shareable. I’d have to say that Chicago Cut also didn’t make the cut.
The food was excellent, service was impeccable. The main dining room seemed packed with tables and too crowded for staff and patrons to move about.
Great service, steak cooked perfectly and tasted great. It was a 5 star experience. The staff was very friendly and professional. Money well spent
