Chicago Curry House (Indian and Nepalese Restaurant) Ratings and Reviews
The food was quite good. However, shortly after we started eating, we noticed gnats or fleas on the wall beside us. As the meal progressed, they began hovering around our food and drink. When we mentioned it to our waiter his response was that they noticed them about an hour before we arrived and did not know why they were there. By the time we left we counted eight of them crawling on the wall above us. When we spoke to the manager about it his response was that an inspector saw them 2 days prior to our being there and he suggested that the next time we came we should sit at a table on the other side of the room. Needless to say, I told him that we would not be returning. I was extremely disappointed with the excuses we heard from the staff, with no apologies.
Great experience and food at Curry house. I had ordered the Mo Mo and chicken Tikka Masala garlic naan were fantastic, they come with rice, They served Papadum and three different sauce compliments as I seated at table.
There menu looks so many dishes , restaurant looks clean and nice. Server so helpful . I will tell all my friends go Chicago Curry House when you in Chicago.
We haven't been to Curry House in several months. It used to be a treat to go to, this time it was horrible. For example, we ordered a half-chicken Tandoori. We got 3 legs, a thigh and a wing. No one cared. The prices are high, the food mediocre at best and the service poor. We will never go back.
We booked this at 6 pm for three people on OpenTable. The party was me , my 23 yr old daughter and her roomate. When we were seated, they did not say hello, welcome, nada...they said " you must be out of here at 8 pm" we said, no problem. It took several minutes to fill our water and take drink orders. When they finally came by to take our dinner orders, he began by saying " you must leave before 8 pm" . No smiles, no help, not polite. We ordered several entrees for the three of us, no appetizers to slow an order. Clearly, they were preparing for a large private function. It took over 20 minutes for Malai Kafka,Veg Korma and Saag Paneer to arrive. These should not take that long. The food was good, but the servers were tense, rude and didn't refill our drinks after food arrived. I gave a 20 % tip, which was not deserved. We left at 7:50 and nobody ever said thank you or goodbye.
They put a weird extremely spicy sauce on the tandoori and a separate bowl of it mentioning it was hot. My mother made the mistake of putting on her whole plate, made all the food inedible. We like spicy food too. Service was bad when I told them about the sauce they didnt say much or even really respond. I used to like this place but hadn't gone in a long time. Disappointed gone down hill. I will not be returning.
The food was good but the service was disappointing. We made a reservation for 7 pm and arrived at 7:05. When I checked in with the host he found my reservation and then told us to sit at the bar for a few minutes. We sat at the bar for about ten minutes and no one came to take any drink order. Then I reminded the host that we were still waiting for a table and they led us over to a table that had been open and ready the entire time we were sitting at the bar!
The food was very good, especially the chicken momos (dumplings) only they forgot to them in our order so we had to ask for them again.
I got the impression that Chicago Curry House is probably better for take out than eating in.
Great location! That's about it I can say about this place. Food wasn't great. We ordered lot of items and pretty much all were below average. The butter chicken dish was not fresh and they charge for raita which I find really odd.
Naan bread was the only thing I found to be tasty. I don't plan to go there again.
My husband and I love Indian food. I'm a vegetarian and appreciate all of the choices. We chose to order from the menu although they also offer a lunch buffet, which is really reasonable. My dish was a little spicy for me, but I prefer food really mild. I would definitely eat here again and would recommend this restaurant to others.
Very much enjoyed the food, but found the service to be peculiar... After waiting approximately 5-10 minutes, the first server appeared. That person and several others continued to help us, taking our orders and delivering food and beverages to the table, but no one person clearly emerged as the server responsible for the table. After the initial wait, the service was good--just not "great" overall in our view.
There was only one waiter working the dinner shift, and it took nearly 20 minutes to get a cranberry juice. The food was lukewarm, at best, and my Indian coworker commented that it wasn't true Indian cuisine. The servers and runners were far more concerned with the to-go orders than they were with the paying customers in the restaurant.
This is really more of a take out spot. on a Monday night for dinner, there were so many people getting take out. The food was good but no one even asked us if we were ok or needed more drinks. They were too busy dealing with numerous take out orders. The food was really good though.
Everything that we have eaten at the Curry House is excellent. We are from out of town, so we only frequent that restaurant yearly perhaps. This past weekend, we spent Friday evening having dinner there and the service was very poor. When we came into the restaurant, there were only 2 tables currently occupied. We were given a nice booth and we ordered our wine and appetizer. After we were finishing our appetizer, a few other patrons entered and were taken to various tables. We placed our order for entrees and waited... And waited... and waited... All of the tables around us were actually finishing their dinner and leaving and we still didn't have our meals! Finally our waiter noticed us looking around a little perplexed and went running back to the kitchen. Someone then energed with my husband's dinner, wonderful! Mine however didn't come and didn't come and didn't come. I told my husband to go ahead and eat, but I had to have wait at least 10 minutes after he received his meal to get mine. We were offered very little in the way of apologies and I certainly wasn't given a discount. We probably will go back, because I really do love their food, but this is one aspect of their business that they should fix.
