“Exotic” and delicious food at a reasonable price. Highly recommended.
As the name implies, this restaurant is all about curries. Curry implies spice. If you're a fellow spicy food lover, this is THE hidden secret of Chicago! The food is amazingly flavorful! My girlfriend and I could not believe how wonderful everything tasted. Best of all, the price point is EXTREMELY reasonable! By the way, if you want some advice, the Moo Moo chicken dumplings put any basic Chinese dumplings to shame. We will be back!
Made reservations for a quick Valentine's Day dinner. It was really busy when we arrived at about 8pm, but we were seated fairly quickly. Service was good and so was the food. If you can't handle the spices, let them know up front. I did, but my wife didn't and hers was a little too intense. All around, it was a good experience and I would return in a slower day.
The food at the Chicago Curry House is always delicious! Have dinner before heading to the Jazz Showcase or just go if you want some unbelievable food!
Out for dinner with family Thanksgiving weekend, delicious and for us unusual food. The atmosphere is very pleasant the volume is conversation friendly. Good value. Hope to get back soon.
Decent food in an okay environment. BUT: the momos are to die for and we instantly felt like being back in Kathmadu. They alone are worth the visit.
Absolutely delicious food! Try their chicken momo. I will go back there over and over again.
Excellent food! Loved the tiki chicken masala, yellow daal. Outstanding service. Friendly and engaging staff. Will return again!!
As a casual get-your-Indian-food-fix-on kind of joint I thought it was not bad, but there were literally three flies flying around at my table. I had made reservations beforehand, listing the visit as a "date". We were seated in a booth by a bright window with people around us that were speaking moderately loud. It wasn't uncomfortable, but the way the seating arrangement was, in my honest opinion definitely not considered one for a date night. I had noticed that on the other side of the restaurant there was an area with low lighting and candles lit but there was nobody sitting on that side. Not sure if our waiter/staff had even read or expected my party as they just sat us at a table at random, but would have preferred the low lighting ambiance. The food was pretty yummy, however on the menu I had requested two dished (both promised with separate servings of Basmati rice) in which I had only received one serving. For the price I paid I was really disappointed as I expected to get what I had ordered (why put it on the menu if it won't be delivered as promised, or at least specify that its only one portion). Again, the flies were really annoying and our second waiter that took our order (we had three "tend" our table for some reason) was really soft spoken and a little hard to understand when I asked about one of the dishes on the menu. I don't mind soft-spoken personalities or shyness in general but at a "high rated" restaurant downtown Chicago expectations will be set higher than average. Our other two waiters didn't really speak at all and I felt a little embarrassed because usually waiters will converse with you or at least smile. It was cold, no smile, sit here, thank you and that was all. If I had gone with lower expectations with a friend for a casual get-together my review may have been a little more lenient, but I would not recommend this place for a date night. Casual eat-and-go sure. Informal lunch with the boss, sure, but not formal "impress your boss".
Probably the worst curry I have ever had. The lamb was beyond tough to chew, the chicken madras had no flavor, everything was mediocre at best. I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy....
Always good quality and great tasting Tibetan and Indian food. Love this place!
Nice Indian restaurant in the South Loop area. I enjoy stopping in when traveling on business to Chicago. The food was excellent, the restaurant was quiet, and the staff was courteous. Thank you for a nice meal.
We had a large group at lunch and the employees treated us very well. Everyone enjoyed having lunch there, so I considered it a great success!
I've been going to Curry House since it's opened. I no longer live in Chicago, but I go there whenever I'm in town. Was glad to see it's become quite popular. The veg momo are out of this world. They do a good job of tailoring food to requested level of spiciness. It is one of my2 favorite restaurants in Chicago.
Enjoyable dining experience. Everyone was pleasant and attentive. Food was awesome!
Overall good. Would have wanted servers to check back on customers rather than customers ask them. Good food, good spice level.
Haven't been there in 2-3 years and it wasn't as good as I remembered. The meat was dry and overcooked - a sin for any lamb dish. Wasn't as flavorful as I remembered, either.
Service is spotty. Food is OUTSTANDING!!! It's weird how they keep the lights off on half of the room...
Went to restaurant on a Thursday evening. Many available tables. Once seated no server came to table to take our drink order. Finally after 10" hailed one who came over and took drink orders. Then had to hail a server again to take our appetizer orders. Once appetizers delivered server did ask about our orders. Food was bland lacking much flavor or spices. Having eaten at many other Indian restaurants we found this odd. The Nepalese food also lacked flavor or spice. One dish a lentil Nepalese dish was just lentils, no spice, no sauce, kind of like it came from a can and was heated. With so many other Indian restaurants in Chicago that are excellent, I would not be returning to Chicago Curry House.
Terrible service, betterto order out and even so make sure you get the right order. Used to love this place but it’s been getting worse every time.
Great experience and warm service
Great food for great value.
The ambiance is very nice and the food is good but there are other restaurants serving tastier Indian food.
Went on a Tuesday evening after work. When we sat down it felt as if a majority of our waiters were very shy. It was difficult to get any recommendations for food or a quick explanation of what something was. The food was delicious! Slightly overpriced but good experience overall!
This is a great place to go on a date. The noise level allows for great conversation. The food is also good.
Yum it was good!
Great food, ambiance, and service! Just that they closed before we could finish the food. Would've been nice if we were informed well in advance (at least 30 mins).
Great service and good food.
Our first visit and it did not disappoint! Great options on the menu, good bar selection and pleasant service.
Went for Restaurant Week, but ended up ordering the buffet. Everything tasted great and the staff was so nice.
