Great food, you certainly pay for it. Ambiance on the garden level was a bit odd. All high tops that move. Would have thought it would be a little more permanent/sturdy.
All good, I’ll be back.
Chicago Chophouse is designed for tourists. The live piano player was the highlight of the meal, he was very good and entertaining. The food quality was good, the food preparation just does not compare with Chicago's other Steakhouses. The atmosphere is a classic Chicago steakhouse, but it feels tired compared to other restaurants with the same motif. The hardest part is the cost is significantly higher than several other better executed Chicago steakhouses, making it a really hard value proposition.
Service was excellent. Food was very good. Traffic around seating area was problematic as it was tight. Drinks were excellent.
Wonderful meal. We opened with lamb lollipops as appetizer. Then salads. We (2 adults, 1 child) shared a perfectly cooked Tomahawk steak (wet aged), plus sides - broccoli, brussel sprouts and bacon-cheese mashed potatoes. Adults had delicious bottle of wine recommended by their NEW sommelier; child had amazing chocolate lava cake. Great place for dates, celebrations, special night out in Chicago. We are from Texas, where we also take our beef seriously. You can't go wrong with this place. Pricey, but as expected. Servers super-nice. They also offer a shuttle service home if requested.
The Chicago Chop House used to be one of my favorite restaurants. During my recent visit, i found the service to be poor, from the valet to the hostess to the waiter. The best service was from the assistant waiter.
I ordered the Porterhouse (dry aged) and found it to resemble a T-Bone rather than a Porterhouse. The Fillet side of the steak was almost non-existent. The flavor and texture of the steak was totally sub-par.
My wife ordered the Prime Rib and was thoroughly disappointed with both the flavor and texture of the Prime Rib.
I have eaten at Gibson's both before and after the dinner at the Chicago Chop House and both meals were hands down better.
The cost of the meals at Gibson's were 1/2 of the price of the meal at the Chicago Chop House for the same amount of food ordered.
I will not waste my money returning to the Chicago Chop House in the future.
My steak was very fatty. Very disappointed.
Really enjoyed the experience at chop house‼️ Service was great, was seated right away, food arrived in a decent time Hot and good‼️ overall i give everyone involved a 10
Had a great time. Our waiter Dimitris was awesome. Great service ever.
Always fabulous there!!
Great experience with a great waiter!
Our steaks were perfectly prepared. I got my bone-in rib eye dry aged steak medium plus and it was excellent. The shrimp cocktail had generously sized shrimp. The cheesecake was very good and easily shareable. Our waiter was good and attentive.
Overall, it was overpriced. The wine menu was heavily overpriced, too much so. The service needed to be better and stop trying to up sell us everything on the menu.
We’ve had better steak for the money.
Would not go back, we know there are better valued places around.
The venue also lacked ambience/atmosphere.
The food was outstanding and the service was exceptional. Definitely recommend this restaurant!
We were there for restaurant week. We were made to feel like second class citizens because we didn't order from usual menu. Offerings for restaurant week were poor. I had steak tips which waiter said wasn't going to be best part of steak. Imagine that! Than why have it on menu. He was right. Tips were fatty and tough. No sides went along with that for the more expensive price point ($48) of restaurant week. I was looking forward to trying this restaurant, but only ended up disappointed. Dinner at Tortoise Club and The Capital Grill much tastier and atmosphere from staff definitely better.
Food overcooked. Staff recognized the steak and after meal was complete offered a free dessert. No mention of the issue when delivered or an offer to correct issue
Demetri provided amazing service. He made great recommendations, fixed and issues and even entertained our girls.
I've been to Chop House twice this year and the first time everything was amazing. The second time the Delmonico steak was all fat so we switched it for a Filet but that took another 30 min. The Tomahawk was just a little under cooked but overall ok. Overall I'd say 3/5 stars this visit.
Celebrated our Anniversary here. Sat downstairs in front of piano man on Saturday evening. Great ambiance and great service. Little disappointed with the $70 dry-aged ribeye. Expecting better.
Fantastic oysters and my steak was perfection. Service was great
We ordered off the restaurant week menu. While the menu had few offerings, the food we ordered was very delicious. My only complaint was that I got a vibe that the Chop House was not a big fan of restaurant week. We had to ask for the RW menu, and the waiter was a little condescending about the offerings on the list.
One of the best meals and experiences we have ever had. The food was amazing and so was the service. Made us feel like we were the only people in the restaurant. I would highly recommend
Great place, great food. Couldn't be happier. It surpassed my expectations. Definitely worth the cost.
Fantastic service, dry aged ribeyes cooked perfect med rare, sides
Great service, very helpful staff. No problem adapting to food allergies

we came here tonight for our 4 year anniversary. we have meaning to come for awhile since we moved here in April 2019 but thought this would be the perfect time to try; we were wrong - since we've lived here this has been the most dissapointing dining experience.
1. we saw a yelp check in months ago after looking up reviews for a "one cocktail free with checking in." Unfortunately the bartender AND server did not know what this included and if we could use one per table. so they each at separate times had to ask the manager. wouldn't you think if you have offered this offer for the past 8 months that you as a server and bartender should know about this offer and what it entails? this led to over 10 minutes of waiting to order a drink.
2. beet salad was good for sharing and the baked potato (eh not great)
3. server was not the best, he had our table and another 2 top and 8 top.
the restaurant was 25% full and the service wasn't good for being 4-5 stars...
4. we ordered a steak, which for the price wasn't anything special. overpriced..we asked for the rest to go however we never got the leftovers as they forgot to bring them out as the debacle below seems to have tripped them up.
5. we had $100 gift card to use and we had never used as this was our first visit. they said the value said full yet it wasn't going through..and asked if we had used it? are you kidding? they had the nerve to ask do to their computer error..so they had to contact someone else to get approval..this added another 15-20 minutes of waiting to get this done and get out check
needless to say we were ready to leave and won't recommend.
oh and they didn't offer anything not even a free dessert for our anniversary.
service was attentive it just took time to get things done and caused an unpleasant evening.
I love the Chop House and live only a block away...so it's a go-to place for me. The food is always outstanding and usually the service is as well. We decided to eat at the bar instead of a table and it wasn't crowded for a Saturday evening, but the service at the bar was just lacking in so many ways this time. Still will go back, but not very pleased with the service at the bar.
Our waitress was phenomenal ! She was well educated on the menu and genuinely looked happy to work there!
We had a birthday celebration for 8 people and Chicago chop house was the perfect choice! They accommodated all of our requests to specialize the dinner for our party, magician- yes!, singer- yes!, cakes-yes! The staff was kind and helpful and the food was absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend the wagyu beef, so buttery sooo good!
All of the salads were also very tasty along with the lamb lollipops! We initially were going to choose another steak house with a more modern upscale esthetic but are all so glad we came to the Chop house. The place itself was warm and welcoming filled with interesting history and character! You won’t be disappointed . The one small criticism I would have would be they could have been better about clearing the table after each course and prepping for the next course, but all the other good outweighs this slight oversight
Way overpriced for the value and quality of the food
Place was empty but yet that sat us a foot from another table. Could completely hear their conversation
Food was outstanding! Best steak I have had in years. Perfectly cooked bone in ribeye. To die for!!
Steaks were outstanding and the wait staff was polite and on top of their game. The place is pricey but well worth the money.
Service and food was outstanding!
Recently dined here for New Years Day, our annual tradition as a family. We decided to try something different and did not disappoint at all! The food, ambiance but especially service was impeccable. Our waitress, Noza, was outstanding! She was very educated about everything on the menu. Most importantly she was very patient with all 10 of us. We will definitely be dining here for all of our future occasions.
Dined here for New Year’s Eve and it was absolutely excellent! The staff was wonderful and the food was amazing!
Arrive for an early dinner on NYE and everything was great! Steaks aren't cheap but it's one of the best I've had in Chicago!! 3 sides all great. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu here.
My fiancé and I had dinner here for NYE. This was our second visit and it was just as memorable for all the right reasons the second time around. We had the lobster bisque soup, Cesar salad and steak - all of which was good.
One of the best things about this place (besides the food) is that they don’t cram as many people in as they can. We had a nice table by the window with plenty of elbow room so we didn’t feel like we were on top of the people next to us.
My only “complaint” is that my Manhattan was not in a proper glass and had ice. I don’t think I’ve ever had a Manhattan that contained ice. If you are a bourbon drinker and prefer your drink to be “neat” this is not the place to assume it comes that way....even if the menu says “perfect” in the description.
Had a great time. Service was great. Nice wine list.
Only issue I had with the restaurant was with the outdated bathrooms. Need to match with restaurant ambiance.
Julian was an excellent server. Great evening.
