Best steak hands down. Always go with the dry aged ny strip
All I can say is that had the best steak ever. The bartender made a suggestion to have my tomahawk ribeye prepared Pittsburgh style and it was an excellent suggestion. Everything else was great as well but after eating that steak anyother will be just hamburger to me 😉
Always a Favorite when visiting Chicago.
Excellent Food,service and atmosphere!
This was my favorite steakhouse in Chicago, I go for the chargrilled prime rib every Time I am in the city. Came in for our reservation and opted for the bar....
From the moment we walked in we noticed a horrible smell. We promptly left, as the entire first floor smells like sewage.
Nobody seemed to care we came and left after a rushed drink. They must be nose blind!!!
What a nice restaurant. Great selection and value. We sat on the first floor and it was perfect for a relaxed, and totally enjoyable meal. Our waitress was Effie and she was attentive, professional, and very helpful in both menu selection as well as places to go in the area. We will certainly return to try floors two and three.
Delicious! Service was wonderful.
Todo delicioso. Excelente servicio
My husband and I went to chop house for the first time on New Year’s Day and we loved every second we were there. The ambiance was amazing, our waiter George was so thorough on explaining the menu and overall and awesome guy. His recommendations were perfect. Baked oyster appetizer was phenomenal and our steaks were unreal. We had no room for dessert but next time we come back to Chicago- chop house is where we will be!!
I have been going to the Chicago Chop House for over 20 years and I am always impressed by the food and service.
Easy to make reservations and table was ready for us even though we arrived early. Wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable, helping us understand all the variations of the aging process. Food was extraordinary.
Our dinner experience was absolutely delightful and everything was absolutely delicious. Our server Julian was amazing and answered any question we had and always came back to check up on us to make sure our dining experience was the best. Def recommend and will be back. Thank You!
For the money spent add a few bucks and splurge at RPM steak, or one of the other high end steak joints. After the excellent oysters rockerfeller the rest went downhill.
New Years Eve
Went there 4 Fathers and 5 sons bringing in the new year and attending the Winter Classic ,food and service were impeccable everyone
raved about they’re steaks from the Grand Filet to the Porterhouse all prepared and cooked to perfection.
The service is incredible as the waiter has a ream of servers working with him .
The service was terrible we won’t be back.
Did not honor free drink through Open Table. Manager never saw it before even when I gave her my phone, she Click Offer Used and walked away
Very under cooked steak, sides were bland and boring, waiter was condescending and rude.
This was my first visit to Chicago Chop House. I had heard great things about it. The service was as good as any restaurant I have visited. The food was very good with all of the steaks cooked to perfection. It's a special occasion restaurant that doesn't disappoint.
One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Professional staff, and incredible steak. Will be returning
The food was superb and the service tremendous. The Waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. He was efficient without rushing. The steaks were cooked to perfection and served hot.the atmosphere was comfortable and the decor appropriate for a Chop House.
Exceptional food and extensive wine list. Really enjoyed the special Wagu Chateaubriand dinner for two. Definitely be back for another special occasion.
Had dinner reservations on Christmas Eve for 3 @7:30pm. Checked in with the front desk. The gentleman said he can take us upstairs right then, but told him that we wanted to set in the bar area. He said it’ll be 20, 25 mins wait. We said okay and went to bar to sit and have cocktails while we waited for our table. We were sitting at bar about 10 mins, the host came by and said he had openings again. We chose not to take it as it was upstairs. Wanted to wait for table by the bar area. He left. After awhile we checked in again, but still no table. At this stage, the gentleman was rude. There was an assistant manager sitting with a customer, maybe a boyfriend. Never once asked if we were okay. Was too busy flirting, I guess. Finally, at 8:30pm I went to check again, as there were now empty tables. The host response was that he came up to us and we told him that we were going to eat at the bar. I’m not sure where he got that from, but we never said we wanted to eat at the actual bar. He was very argumentative at that point. I then went to the assistant manager who was still sitting with the customer and told her my frustration. She immediately sat us and said she’d comp a few appetizers. The server was good, food was okay, but the overall experience put a bad taste in my mouth. I believe employee training is a must if you want to compete with the numerous steak houses in Chicago. May take lessons from Mastro’s... always a good experience there. Thank you...
We were seated 30 miuntes after our reservation for a family of 4 my husband and myself and our 16 and 15 year old. Then we were sat in the bar area and my husband asked for a table upstairs and they said it would be another 20 minutes. At that point we were hungry so we just sat in the bar. Then my husband was bumped at least 15 times and half of the times he was bumped was by our waiter and there was never an apology. Lastly there were some close calls with the big large trays that were brought out they were very very close to banging my spouse in the head. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE
Excellent meal. We had the ribeye and the sea bass, both of which were great. However, the crab cake was almost perfection. Definitely recommend. A great steakhouse atmosphere and the service was outstanding.
Hac a guest from Kansas City and he just loved the ambiance and mostly the food. He was impressed w/ the great table we had-right next to the front window. Even though the piano was playing we were able to have a conversation w/ everyone at the table. Would definitely return again for a special occasion.
Had a reservation and they put us next to the bar. Didn't have a few bottles of wine I asked for that were listed on their wine list. I had a great meal here in the past but now feel there are 50 better steak places in chicago than this spot. Too bad
Disappointing compared to their reputation. Food was sub-par for a 5 star restaurant. Ambience was ok, a little noisy. Only one craft IPA and they were out of it for a 6pm Saturday dinner. Appetizers were decent but small quantity and very high priced. Steaks were very high in ground pepper. Capital Grille is a much better option. We will be trying Chicago Cut in a couple weeks....
One of our favorite places in Chicago. OG pics and a culture of excellence.
From start to finish the service and quality was top notch. The food was excellent and our server was attentive but not overbearing. The decor is a tad kitschy, but this is an overall stellar steakhouse.
Noisy, but food was outstanding
Great meal at an old favorite. Our server, Effie, was superb!
Food and service were amazing. I loved the ambiance.
Table service was terrible. Waiter never checked on us once. Ordered my $80 steak “rare-plus” came to the table medium, way over cooked. Had to flag down a bus boy to return my $80 steak. Walked in at 7:45 for an 8:00 reservation left at 10:45, 3 hours for an $80 steak. Quality and service on par with a “chain steakhouse” not a premium steakhouse they claim to be. Waiter even managed to screw up a gin martini, really a gin martini. I’ll never go back, but with over 2 million people living in Chicago, The Chophouse doesn’t really need my $300 bucks. They’ll just offer the next sucker a terrible meal, service and move on.
The restaurant is really expensive for what you get in return and the atmosphere is rather basic for such a an expensive menu. Our cost was over $300 for the cheapest bottle of wine, 2 steaks and Mac and cheese. We have experienced fine dining in multiple other restaurants and received a lot more value for our money and experienced a more high class setting.
Amazing food, best steak ever. Slow service. A bit packed and loud. Not sure how to reserve the Third Floor rooms. Food made up for any inconveniences, so good!
Dined here 2x in the last 2 months …. The service is awful …. They basically ignore you most of the time and if you are lucky to be graced by the servers presence, they act like they are doing you a favor …. Two dines, floors 2 and 3, same result, bad service …. The prime rib is excellent … 2nd time had the filet and it was above average but not WoW …. Sides are small so don't think it is going to feed more the 1.5 people … I have dined here for many years and I think it is time to say goodbye …. Look at all of your options before selecting this place …. To bad, in it's day, this was "The Place" to go for a great 360 experience ….
We go here every year for Christmas with our family for the holidays and it never disappoints. Food is incredible and staff is awesome. I can’t say enough about the food and everything about this restaurant.
I was very excited to take my wife there for our anniversary. Both of us are steak lovers. Though we had reservations we were seated by the bar and felt the draft every time the door opened. We order a bottle of wine, oysters, a crab cake, 2 steaks, lobster tail and a piece of carrot cake. All of it except the wine was below average. My steak was so cold in the middle almost frozen. Someone from another table stated the same thing. The waiter was a nice guy but we rarely saw him. They took my steak back and it still was cold. Carrot cake was old and stale. We were extremely disappointed for a $380 dinner.
Always a great experience at the best steakhouse in Chicago!
