Great place to have our 33rd anniversary. Awesome server who did everything to make our dinner awesome!! Steaks lobster bisque and great drinks made our nite complete... 👍
Excellent overall. The steak was perfect and service was spot on.
Enjoyable meal. I would definitely go back.
Absolutely amazing possibly best steak I’ve ever had.
Great time good food I highly enjoyed my time there
First time ever for us and the food was AMAZING! We got the petite dry aged sirloin (petite is still an 8oz portion!) and it was THE most amazing steak I’ve ever eaten!!!!! Paired it with the au gratin potatoes and the unbelievable shiitake mushrooms. Service was sweet, environment was so wonderful We actually ended up striking up a conversation with the table next to us and enjoy the dinners together. This is a must stop for us now each time we visit Chicago!
Loved the food, service is even better! Would love to go back when in Chicago again!
Our food was outstanding as was the service it is s not pricey and the seafood tower was ridiculously large!! Lots of fun!!
Excellent food and service as well as substantial quality liquor selection.
Food was good but not exceptional, old school Chicago vibes, friendly service
We had a particularly difficult experience. Our service was way below average as drinks weren't delivered correctly and when we asked for something as simple as a twist for the drink we had to ask more than once. The bar was less than 10 feet away. Our food was delivered but only the main dishes with one exception - one person ordered mac and cheese and that took over 10 minutes longer than the other main dishes. It came with the sides so they were delivered 10 minutes after the steaks.
There was one very loud table close by with one extra loud guest in addition to the others. It was beyond anything you would expect in any public setting and certainly, not expect at one with that carries the price values of a Chop House. Two tables of patrons asked to move and were moved. Our party was large and we didn't ask to move and we weren't offered to move either. The patrons who also remained at their tables all exchanged looks of disbelief. Yet, the serving group at Chop House didn't think to take any action. Finally, my wife went to management and complained. This finally resulted in a visit to the table where they asked the group to be more considerate. It was awkward and very tardy, but a welcome intervention. But then, it became more awkward when the manager came and talked to us right after speaking to the culprits. I guess they now knew who turned them in.
After dinner, we were asked if we wanted dessert. We very firmly said no but the waiter said well, we're bringing you a complimentary dessert for the trouble. We tried to tell him no thank you but he insisted and sure enough, that dessert showed up.
All in all, I would suggest that the staff needs some real training at the Chicago Chop House. There are too many great steak houses in Chicago for us to consider returning there for a long long time.. or never.
Ordered ribeye Pittsburgh Medium and it came without a bit of char.
Daughter ordered Grand Filet medium and half of it was rare.
A group of baseball fans arrived from Wrigley and decided to FaceTime while sitting at their upstairs table. They were loud and obnoxious. Other tables were asking them to be quiet while the servers and staff management did nothing.
Restaurant brought a Lava Cake out for my daughters birthday. It was a nice touch and I appreciate it but the mood was shot and I just wanted to get the bill paid and get on the road.
Very disappointed. Have been to Chop House several times over the years and was pleased. On this occasion they were very good at telling us how good they were but short on delivery.
Too much money for the result. I dine often for business in Chicago. Got to tell you, I think Chop House is being surpassed by places like Swift & Sons, Bavette’s, and Prime & Provisions.
It’s a good steak place with old time white table clothes. The steaks were well prepared and the drinks were good.
Great place for dinner. Good service, food was delicious, would definitely be interested in going again.
Amazing steaks and great service ! What a nice place!!
A Chicago institution, this is one of the best steak houses we have ever enjoyed. Immediately upon walking in we were pleasantly greeted. We were seated at once and offered drink menus. Our drinks were quickly delivered and our server, George, went over the menu with us. While this was not our first time, we appreciated him explaining the many nuances. Our order was prompt, outstanding, and well-presented. The building itself has a long, interesting history and our server knew it well. He clearly enjoyed sharing its past with us and other patrons within earshot. On our way out the maitre'd thanked us for dining and offered us a ride to our hotel; apparently a service offered to patrons. This is a top-shelf steak house. And the piano player is an added bonus.
Unfortunately, I received a rare steak when ordering a medium cook. I had to wave repeatedly to get the attention of staff. I hold the chef accountable to know how to cook a steak at a steakhouse, so had to give a poor rating. Management used the excuse of confusion with the tickets. Again, no excuse for this level restaurant.
Brought my own bottle of wine Opus One that they enthusiastically poured. French Onion was delicious but a little too much melted cheese.
Ordered the Waygu steak that was worth the over $125 that I paid. Key Lime pie was so delicious I ordered a second. Manager was very engaging discussing favorite wines. Waiter was very professional and attentive but not overbearing.
Ordered the prime rib sliders from the Happy Hour menu. It appeared that there where only two very this slices of prime rib on the sliders. Way WAY more bun than meat. Reminded me of the old Wendy’s Burger commercials, “Where’s the beef?”
Wonderful service, great, cozy atmosphere. Piano player added a nice, old Chicago touch.
Great venue for a little Chicago old style! Service was exceptional. Steaks delicious.
Excelent Piano Bar, they should put some speakers upstairs, you can only enjoy it downstairs. Amazing knowledge of the menu and wines. The bread..Ufff. The meats WOW!!!
Ok steak but very pricey
We had one day in Chicago and wanted to experience as much as posdible- including Chicago food favorites. We could not have picked a better restaurant for a Chicago steakhouse. It is an institution with old photos of the city and Chixago's most infamous gangsters adorning the walls. Our server George was incredible and shared stories of Al Capone's descendants visiting the restaurant as he walked us through the menu. The steak was by far the best we had ever had and worth every penny. It was so tender it could be cut with a butter knife and so flavorful each small bite could be savored. Highly recommend!
My husband and I have been to Chicago Chop House many times and this visit was just as great as previous visits.
We just love this place and always make a point to go there every time we come to Chicago. The food and service are amazing!
We had an incredible meal and the waiter was awesome...provided us with history on the restaurant and Chicago. We truly enjoyed ourselves!
I’m a repeat visitor. Love the chop house and try to go whenever I’m in the city
Julian is an outstanding waiter! Perfect service!
Wow! Everything was delicious! Lobster bisque was so creamy and by far the best I ever had! I got the dry aged bone in ribeye with truffle butter, beyond tender and Flavorful. This place is definitely the best high end steak house out there! From the soup and salad to the sides and steaks Wow oh wow!
Great historical steak house. The service and food is exceptional.
The atmosphere and the nostalgia
The lady serving us was the ultimate
Steaks here are top notch, as is the service. The only gripe I have is that everything, I mean EVERYTHING, is a la carte. They even charge for sauces. Other than that, this place is my go to for steaks. The dry-aged steaks are great.
We had the porterhouse and it was excellent. The best I’ve had. Service was outstanding
Dishes ate: Oysters Rockefeller, charcuterie, Tomahawk ribeye, porterhouse, prime rib, creamed spinach, truffle mac and cheese with bacon.
Oysters were very good, and this is coming from someone from Louisiana.
All the cuts of meat were a bit unique in a good way. The tomahawk had the best crust, the porterhouse had the best seasoning (including the best filet I’ve ever eaten), and the prime rib was very classic with a great horseradish sauce.
The spinach (in my opinion, steak’s best side dish) was quite good and definitely worthy of indulgence of it. The mac and cheese was only okay without the double-smoked bacon, so make that addition and it’s good to go.
Our server was great and was happy to deal with my partially-hearing-impaired dad, which is a help to my mom and I, who are usually recapping everything a server says after they leave.
The piano playing was a good accompaniment to the ambiance for a dinner out.
Most delicious meal i’ve ever had. 10/10 would recommend.
What a gem of a place! I had a fabulous dinner tonight! Started with an awesome lobster bisque. Old school, rich and decadent! Then the dry aged petite filet Mignon. Just pure heaven! Wonderful char on the exterior. And a head turner of a baked potato! Seriously big and delicious! I shouldn't forget to mention their bread is delicious too! I enjoyed all this with a couple glasses of wine from a superior selection of choices by the glass. Service was top-notch! I wish I were a local, so I could return here frequently.
Incredible food and atmosphere, friendly staff, best steak I’ve ever had in my life.
I found the food to be good, but not worth the 300 dollar bill for 2 people. It was my wife’s birthday, I asked for them to them to bring her something so we could sing happy birthday, they did bring some apple pie crumbled up looking thing with a candle on it. Not impressed at all. The steak was decent, not worth 90 dollars. I have had better for lower prices. The atmosphere was ok, there were some girls twerking near our basement window that were not told to leave the premises but were allowed to continue with their immature and rude behavior as we were trying to enjoy your meal.
