The staff were friendly and the food was delicious. Perfect Father's Day dinner:)
The food was fantastic . My husband and I both had the bone in ribeye dry aged with loaded baked potato, glass of sangria and pomegranate martini. Lobster bisque was fantastic and we finished it off with homemade cherry pie.
Experience surpassed my party of 6 expectations! Food and service was great! Decor and one bathroom was disappointing, but most definitely it won’t prevent me from going back! One of the best or the steaks in Chicago!
The service and food was amazing!!!
Everything was wonderful. The food was amazing and the service was excellent.
A fantastic dining experience! We dined in the bar and were entertained by their wonderful piano player who has been with them 29 years. The service was extremely friendly, the food excellent, and a great wine list for wine lovers. They even had limo service back to our hotel!
The place has slipped. It is a shadow of its past. And people know it. It was empty on a Thursday night.
The Chicago Chop House is a wonderful restaurant
My favorite place to eat in Chicago! The service is unmatched and food is incredible. I recommend it to everyone!
My entire family ordered steaks and I ordered fish. My family really enjoyed the steaks but I did not enjoy my fish entree. I ate about one third before it started not tasting right and I did not finish the rest. Instead of having the entree removed from my bill, I was given free desert. They did offer me something else to eat but I’m not a big steak eater so I declined. I guess I should have ordered steak at a steakhouse.
Food quality was poor. Wants the chop house I ate at 20 years ago. Won’t be going back.
Exceptional service as always! Great food, good friends and good wine, what more could you ask for
My wife & I returned to the Chicago Chop House to commemorate the 30th anniversary of our getting together at the Chicago Blues Festival, and the 27th anniversary of my marriage proposal at the restaurant. The staff exceeded all of our expectations, treating us like honored guests! We were seated at a table by the window on the second floor (fantastic!), and our waiter, Julian, as well as the rest of the staff took care of us like family. The food recommendations were spot on: the steaks were tender and juicy, the baked potato rich and buttery, and the dessert was the perfect finish -- The homemade cherry pie was amazing, and the chocolate martini was the best either of us had ever tasted. The complimentary ride back to our hotel was fun and much appreciated! Thank you again for a memorable experience.
Great Service! Great food! The waitress make you feel at home
The Chicago Chop House was great. It is not cheap, but no Chicago steakhouse is inexpensive. The piano man added to the ambiance, the service was exceptional, and the food was as good as I've always had at this restaurant. To me, it is a can't miss when I visit Chicago. My family loved it.
Joe was the best server. Loved it all.
Best steaks in Chicago, and great live piano bar sometimes.
Great service, great food. What I would expect from a Chicago steakhouse. Will definitely go back!!
Best Mac'n Cheese I've ever had. The Delmonico steak was also incredible.
Best steaks in the city.
Good but overpriced. Diner beware. Service and atmosphere was good
Joe K was a great server! Friendly and knowledgeable.Started with Garlic Shrimp and split the Chop house salad. Both were amazing. The Petite Filet and the Bone in KC steaks were done to perfection. We had sides of Au Gratin Potatoes and Asparagus. The Godiva Chocolate Lava Cake was fantastic. A couple of Tito's and Lagunitas IPA's made for a fun evening. The last time we were in Chicago in 2010 we ate at The Chop House. It is just as good if not better than it was them. We will be back. Thank you!!!
The gold standard of Chicago steakhouses is apparently struggling to keep up with the newer, cooler restaurants. Still great steaks and good selection, though way overpriced. Side dishes are tasty and reasonable. Drinks are awesome.
For quiet and romantic, you must request the second or (better, yet) third floor. The ground floor seating (in bar) is kind of cool, but they let anyone in with no regard for the dwindling dress code (of "Business Casual"). Apparently shorts, sneakers, t-shirt, and backwards baseball cap are OK on the ground floor. Millennials!
The older crowd still dresses to impress and that pulls my rating back up because it reminds me of the good old days with many memorable meals.
It's good, but wildly overrated. Sure, it's an institution, but expense account (or well-heeled) steak is a competitive market these days with many alternatives to choose from. Many have better food, better service, better prices, etc. Occasionally all of the above.
It was our first time there. We were very happy with the overall experience and will return.
Location and service was great. Food was not as good as expected. I have had much better steak for less money.
Excellent food, but a disappointing overall experience. We were seated next to a table of eight, several of whom were intoxicated, loud, and using the F word liberally. Four of them left the building twice for a "smoke break." We could see them smoking marijuana on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. Our servers were so busy dealing with this obnoxious table that they had little time for us. Perhaps the restaurant can't be held responsible for the behavior of their customers, but we were also customers. We did not enjoy the atmosphere and service was not up to standards. We have dined at this restaurant several times, appreciate the excellent food, but probably won't be back. For the price of dinner at this restaurant, they need to ring all the bells in order to deliver value. They failed for us tonight.
Always try and have a good steak in Chicago. Great place for apps, steaks, just everything. Great atmosphere. Ask for Meghan. One of the best servers I have ever had.
Great spot and one of our favorites but it has the worst valet parking situation in the city. I will only come to them now via a cab if I’m staying in the city. Won’t drive there from the burbs anymore.
Absolute outstanding experience. The food was outstanding. I’ve also NEVER been asked to have a seafood tower “hot” and it was outstanding. Our server Megan was perfect. Very attentive but not overbearing. Extremely positive attitude and made the evening a wonderful night. Highly recommended for food, atmosphere and of course service.
Great food, great service.
From the moment we went through the door we were back in the 1920’s from the door man to the decor. We were greeted very warmly and professional . Our waiter Lorenzo was very attentive and treated us very well. The food was delicious we start with the wedge salad with 50/50 dressing ( half blue cheese half 1000). My husband had the tomahawk steak and I had the petite sirloin both were cooked to perfection . You have to try the potato pancakes very good. All and all we were very happy and enjoyed our evening very much. Thank you Teri Studiale
We made reservations weeks in advance only to arrive and be told “you will have to wait 45 minutes more”
What is the point of a reservation system???
We tried to address with the manager and he dismissed us.
They said they would call or text us to come when our table was open.
We waited almost an hour and left without ever being seated, texted or called.
Best part is 3 hours later Open Table thanks me for the reservation I never experienced.
We gave up reservations at RPM Steak which we have visited several time to “try” Chop House.
1. You missed out on a $1800 bill(our bill that night at a better steakhouse)
2. We will never ever go back and make sure our friends are aware.
If I could give no stars I would!
0 stars for Management to Service to experience.
One of the best Manhattan drinks we’ve had in a long time
Steaks are not a good quality. They are flavorless, smell old, and are unevenly cooked.
Absolutely incredible steaks expensive but well worth the price.
I ordered the prime rib as medium rare but it was served really rare. The meat was not juicy at all. Also the server was rude. We did not stay long but they tried to clear the table as quick as possible, and they forced us to finish the dessert. They even said that they have reservation after us. I never go back and I of course do not recommend to anyone. Very bad!
Excellent food. Nice attention to detail. Free shuttle. Definitely recommend!
An old school chop and steak house that fit the description perfect for what I want in a steak house. Classic ambiance and throwback photos line the garden room and bar area where the piano man plays and the drinks flow. The steak was top notch and I highly recommend ANYTHING with the bacon in it.
Darrell, bartender downstairs, great drinks, great guy, dinner upstairs delicious, great night
