We had another terrific meal. This restaurant is worth a drive, only 15 minutes from Chestnut Hill. It better that anything in our neighborhood, and most options in Boston. Try the lobster roll--the best in Boston.
My husband and I have been here three times. We really want to like this place, as there are so few fine dining options in the suburbs. The decor is warm and inviting, service is friendly (albeit a little slow); but it consistently underwhelms. The menu has some good Mediterranean concepts, but the chef fails to deliver on flavor and finesse. Dishes are under seasoned (I am not accustomed to picking up the salt shaker so often in a restaurant). Cocktail menu is inventive with herb infusions, etc. but on 3 consecutive visits they were skimpy and watery-weak. Tonight, even dessert was bland. At these prices, food & drink should be better.
This is a restaurant that really pays attention to the details. If you love oysters you will be delighted with both the freshness and the presentation. I have been delighted every time I have been to Chiara. Everything from the appetisers through the entres and on to the coffee and tea are first class.
Our experience at Chiara Bistro was a wonderful one!! We have been here several times before and each time we walk in the door we are greeted by a warm and friendly staff. Our server, was excellent, she had a fantastic sense of humor, and a great knowledge of the menu. The food, as always, was delicious!! A great restaurant for a special occasion, or just a night out alone or for a dinner with good friends!! You cannot go wrong.
Another great meal at Chiara's. We've been several times and have never been dissapointed. The wine, the food, the service...all wonderful. The cinnamon spiced duck was delicious and the portion very generous. I also enjoyed the scallops with creamed corn, a nice combination. We feel lucky to have a "Boston" quality restaurant out in the suburbs.
I've enjoyed Chiara every time I've eaten there. My folks absolutely love it, so whenever I go out to eat with them, it's usually Chiara. It's a great fit for the area, in my opinion.
great service from the front line as well as the GM whose wine knowledge and time was appreciated as he responded with both direct answers and a brief story about special wine selections highlighted which we asked for guidance on and enjoyed. A great Revolver Wine Co. cab franc 2005 that was fully drinkable and good value which I would like to taste again each year for the next five to compare. We have been here before at the bar which was busy late. We sat in the dining room this time and it quieted about 930 pm and was really intimate because the room is layed out nicely and it quieted down as the evening progressed. We'll be back.
we eat at chiara regularly and are usually very happy with the experience, but wednesday they dropped the ball..we were greeted and seated timely and the h2o and bread were delivered quickly..our wine and meal orders were taken and after that it all went awry..we waited a good 10 minutes for our drinks and 40 minutes for our meals..from our view of the kitchen it appeared that they were training someone and more talk was going on than cooking..our food was delicious but that was the last we saw of our waiter until we flagged someone down for the check..we ran out of water and were never refilled..two tables in our vicinity were offered amuse bouche complements of the chef..however two tables including ours were not..very rude..
We have not been to Chiara for 18 months and could notice a wonderful change for the better. The menu was varied and interesting and the food was really delicious. The restaurant was full, but it was still very easy for us to talk at the table with our friends. We are looking forward to returning.
Still and always love going to Chiara. We go for special ocassions as well as just a quiet
dinner out. Appetizers and small plates are the best. We have decided that we want to just keep having them and not order dinner. The entrees are good but the starters are far superior.
Getting the food took some time.
Waiter service was good. Menu was limited. Ended up with burger. It was good. But it should be for $14.
Overall, I would give it a B. I probably won't eat there again. A little pricey.
We're not empty nesters, but when our teenage son told us he was getting pizza with friends, I said to my husband, "let's do Chiara's!". That was at 2 pm and we were able to snag an early evening reservation. Greeted by the new host, who was just as cordial as the familiar Dan, we had another great Saturday dinner at our neighborhood gem. The icy Concord grape infused cocktail was designed for me. Sublime squash soup, piquant and soft at the same time. Reminded me that Chiara really shines with its fall menu. I had one of the "Small Plates", so large I brought some home. Tangy melt-in-mouth pulled pork, nice side of arugala and the best fries. My husband had the big pork chop, chunky cornbread, stacked potatoe gratin. We'll be back!.
My wife and I have never had a bad meal at this restaurant. Their meals are consistantly excellent and the the menu varied and interesting. This restaurant also has the most plesent ambiance and welcoming decor of all the establishments we frequent.
The food here is fantastic, the service very good, and the wine choices are well thought out. the wine pairing is particulary good.
Overall, we were very happy with our experience. The lobster-corn chowder was excellent. My only personal gripe was with my confit duck leg- it was battered and fried to a dehydrated crisp- not at all the succulent, moist deliciousness I was anticipating. The remainder of the meal was fine- my husband had the lamb "lollichop" as an appetizer, and we would both highly recommend it. Service was 4 1/2 stars. I only marked the noise as moderate because we had an older couple seated next to us with the gentleman clearing his throat very loudly (and often). The ambiance/noise level was otherwise stellar.
We have eaten at Chiara before, and will be back. This was our worst meal there, and it was still very good.
Really enjoyed it! Nice combination of small plates, casual options and full portion, classic dinners to suit every appetite!
We had a great meal with out two teenage daughters. The duck dish was really good - a confit and two very nice slices of breast, perfectly cooked and quite nice. The lamb tangine was also very nice, served with a tasty couscous. The atmosphere is cosy, with a fireplace in the bar area, and a nice long bar. We were there on a Sunday, so the place was quiet and not much activity in the bar, but in past visits the bar has been quite active.
We had a reservation but they sat us just over a wall by the main entrance. The restaurant was not very busy. I would have appreciated the hostess asking if we minded being by the door. It was a special occasion dinner.
The food and service were both excellent.
Everyone raved about their dishes.
Atmosphere was intimate. The Passion drink, Bar B Q duck and mussels were delicious. Our servers were pleasant. We will be returning.
We've been here several times, this was our anniversary dinner. All went as expected - fabulously. Since we declined dessert, we thought that we were finished and awaited our check. THEN ... the server brought a lovely plate of cookies, compliments of Chiara Bistro. Needless to say, we'll be back to dine again.
Chiara is always great...food is wonderful, service is excellent...if you haven't been, we would recommend trying. It's small, has an intimate bar area. Last night we enjoyed the bbq duck entree and the scallops served with corn and lump crab.
We have been going to Chiara since it opened. It is consistently great. The food is wonderful and the service outstanding. I always enjoy the wine. We will be back, often.
This was a welcome break from the various chain restaurants that populate nearby areas. Every dish was fantastic, from the appetizer to desert! The service was efficient and friendly, without being invasive of the intimate experience this restaurant creates. A great wine list, but a little pricey (most over $40).
It was just 5-10 minutes from Dedham and well worth the drive! What a great find! We will return, again and again!
Great food and wine, great service and great ambiance!
Tried this one for Restaurant week and would absolutely return. Service great, very knowledgeable staff, food choices and presentation and quality above and beyond for a suburb (altho suburbs are much better than 5-10 years to...someone realized we are beyond blomin onions!).
Chiara's was busy the night of our reservation. We were seated promptly and our waitress took our drink order right away. The selections for restaurant week were excellent. The food was generous in size and was generally outstanding. The wines selected for the entrees were fantastic. We look forward to a return visit.
Always great food at chiara. Fresh, in season foods prepared with creativity, passion and joy. Beautiful plates arrive before you and amazing flavors follow. Tucked await quiet westwood, but right off the highway. Enjoy it, you won't regret the trip
While the food was delightful, the waitress seemed a little uptight, not something you want dining out. Otherwise, it was delightful.
First time trying this restaurant with Restaurant week. Great food for the price.
Excellent food and service, as I have always experienced in the past. I plan to return and bring new customers!
the food and service were great, the design of the dining area is perfect, the tables aren't too close together like they are in so many boston restaurants. The only flaw would be that the bar area is kind of small and overcrowded...
a remarkable suburban experience.....delicious food, and extremely nice staff. it's always a pleasure to dine here.
Great food and service! The menu is also an adventure.
The food was excellent, portion size decent and the wait staff friendly.
Our experience was outstanding. Our server was delightful, warm and friendly and gave great wine suggestions for two foodies who don't know a whole lot about vino (typically beer drinkers). Our food was delicious, some really interesting and unique combinations of flavors. We had high expectations going in, from what we had seen of the menu, and they were absolutely met. A nice restaurant without the craziness of the city, we would definitely return again.
It was our first visit. I had sirloin, meat was good, as good as filet mignon, french fries was mushy, greens had vinegar more than I liked. My friend loved the scallops with pieces of crab meat sprinkled. I was not impressed with boiled grren, it was not a good choice but my friend had yellow tomato gaspacho and she liked it very much. Our waiter was very friendly, we had good time, we will visit again
Fabulous food! For those who can't make up their minds they also have fix priced menu offerings that include wine pairings. I had the salmon fillet and it was fantastic. I had to keep it away from my girlfriend so that she wouldn't eat all of it. Highly recommended.
This was a nice place: liked the decor and service very much. My dinner (Barbecued Duck) was fantastic! ...My friend had Pork Loin...which she reported as unremarkable and not as good...Overall...I would return for that duck again!
We had never been to this restaurant before and we went for restaurant week and it was fantastic. The food was outstanding and the service was great. I think this is going to be a new favorite restaurant and will definitely return again.
