Chiara Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Chiara is definitely a worthwhile experience - unfortunately, we do not go as often as we'd like...but when we do, we know that each course will be special. From the appetizers and wine through dessert, it's a delicious and lovely meal. A favorite in our area!
This is a most remarkable restaurant that NEVER fails to satisfy! From a distinct and different vibe with each visit (either vibrant or sedate), an alert and totally professional waiter [yeah, Matt!], to a consciously expanding Mediterranean menu with unique offerings (this time we savored a delicious chicken liver pate, yummy PEI mussels, followed by scrumptious cod, potato gnocchi bolognese, and topped off with creme brulee; BTW, the cocktails and wine didn't slouch either!), Chiara Bistro is a must visit for serious food lovers. At present, one of our FAVORITE dining establishments! Mmmm-mmm grrrrreat.
Had a great time as always last night at Chiara. The food is consistently outstanding, we had a few people get the gnocchi which is perfect every time and also had the cod and steak special that had every last bite eaten. Matt is an ultra professional server and I’m always happy to sit in his section, and also great to see Tracy last night who is part of a tremendous service team. Got to take some friends there last night who haven’t been there before, I’m sure they’ll be back.
I have been to Five Star more times than I can count, so this review is long overdue.
I am totally a fan. I love this place.. I've gone to Five Star for years so people come and go but 98% of the time the service and food is perfect.
The gnoche is out of this world ...so soft and explosion of tastes. Ordered that as an appetizer. For entrees, the Five Star the salmon or scallops are solid choices. The lobster roll is my favorite but it is out of season.
I have taken countless numbers of people (family, work colleagues , friends) to Five Star and they have never been disappointed.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The only thing I can complain about is there is not enough room between tables
We were seated right away, and our guests , who had arrived before us were waiting. We spent from 6 to after 9pm enjoying each other’s company and the excellent food. Finally we were politely asked if we could continue at the bar because others were awaiting our table. A popular place, jam packed with happy diners.
Our little family had a fantastic New Year's eve dinner at Chiara Bistro. The service was beyond expectations and perfectly paced. The special menu offered great options and all dishes were delicious. The owners are strongly involved and are constantly present in the restaurant. And it's always nice when one of them comes to your table to greet you in a personal way. Chiara Bistro never disappoints. This time it was superbe, sublime, merveilleux. Bonne annee!
We had been there before and always enjoyed it. It was New Year's Eve and the place was busy, but the service was still attentive and pleasant. A three course meal plus an amuse bouche was offered at a reasonable price of $79, plus drinks, tax, and tip. The food was very good and the selections were appropriate. My only criticism, if it can be called that, was that the chef obviously likes some sweetness in his savories. For example, the amuse bouche was a fresh oyster on the half shell, which I enjoyed, but would have enjoyed it more if it had been served with a vinegar mignonette or even lemon juice rather that the slightly sweet sauce that was on the oyster. Also, I had tuna crudo for my first course, and it too had a slightly sweet (blood orange) dressing on it. The main course was a deconstructed beef wellington and it was delicious, as were the desserts. As the ancient Romans said, "De gustibus non disputandum est", i.e., about tastes it should not be disputed, so, though I don't care for "sweet" savories, many people probably like them, so I will not quibble. All in all, it was a lovely dinner and we shall certainly return in the future.
We had a wonderful time at Chiara. It was our second time there and the food, as before, was outstanding. The trout special was quite delectable as was the crème brûlée. The service is very good. The wait staff were quite attentive and there was never a need to wait for or contact them. While it's above our typical price point for dinner, it is definitely worth it for special occasions.
As there is little about Chiara Bistro that would warrant describing it as Mediterranean, the description should be removed. It is run of the mill American cuisine. I ordered the steak and at $38, it was fair. It was accompanied by a very small amount of butternut squash and turnip, which was fine because the vegetables were so over salted as to render them dangerous to consume if one has hypertension. The noise level was so loud that we had to shout to each other to be heard. Worse yet, there is no anteroom to the door, so every time it was opened patrons were treated to a blast of brutally frigid wind such that the woman at the next table refused to even unzip her full length park. We won't return.
We had been at Chiara’s before, but not for some time, and thought some changes had been made to make it cozier and less noisy. The food was absolutely excellent, and served in the right proportions, and our waiter — I believe he is the beother of the owner/manager — was very attentive and curteous! All in all we know we will be back for more of the same!
We ordered the Long Island duck with warm cherries, butternut squash and string beans. The flavors of the sliced duck breast, butternut squash and cherries complemented each other beautifully. For dessert, we had apple tarts also so tasty and not too sweet. It was a totally DELICIOUS dinner!
