Aesthetically inspiring, its rustic walls, hard wood floors and green onyx bar invoke the authenticity of conventional Italian architecture while remaining slightly modern. The culinary philosophy at Chianti is based on a respect for tradition. With artisan breads and pastas, housemade sausage and braised meats it is culinary craftsmanship at its best. Chianti Il Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
We make Chianti’s our destination restaurant the two times a year we travel to Saratoga. We’ve been going there for the past 4 years and it never disappoints. Knowledgeable wait staff will help you pair the right wine with your food selection. I would recommend most enthusiastically and without reservation.
Very nice choice for my wife's special birthday. Food and service were good. Pet peeve of mine with most restaurants I've visited, place was empty and they seated us at a tiny table in a tight corner. We asked to be moved and were accommodated. Nice touch was a complimentary birthday dessert with several waiters singing happy birthday in Italian. It's not your typical Italian restaurant though, no veal parm or chicken francese, for example.
this was our first time dining here, the ambiance, reception & decor are first rate, noise on the high side but expected for such a busy restaurant. both the owner & manager could not be more welcoming & accommodating. food was very tasty, arrived on time. if ever returning to this town, will definitely dine here & send our friends when they visit
Food and service were excellent as were wine pairing suggestions. However, overriding the entire experience was a noise level that made conversation with my wife nearly impossible
despite the fact that we were able to select a table that was fairly isolated. Chianti is warm and inviting but the noise level is a huge negative.
I love the food at Chianti and it’s always been a very good deal. But the place is deafeningly loud. Some people want to shout over dinner—I don’t. Wish they could figure out how to balance a sense of fun with attention to how it actually feels to eat there.
My wife and I enjoyed a delightful meal on a Sunday evening . The restaurant was not crowded, and I think the service staff might have been light because we did have to wait to give an initial order and between courses. We did not mind this one bit, as we were happy to sip our wine and talk! An appetizer of octopus, a special for the day, was outstanding; the serving size was very generous and the flavor a were terrific. Similarly, an order of penne in vodka sauce was plenty for the two of us to share and was delicious. My wife ordered the "filetto" and it came medium-rare as ordered and was tender and delicious . I had the quail, which also was delicious and with 2 of the birds presented I was able to bring one home to enjoy the following day. Desserts of profiteroles and a creamy ricotta (I forget the name!) capped off a wonderful meal.
It’s to crowded spread the tables out a little more for a more private conversation. Our 4th Time here and the food was ok unfortunately it’s been going down hill every time we go and it’s a disappointment because we love it here with the service and the atmosphere.
They excel at making you think you’re in for something special. From the pretentious maître d’, kissing the cheek of every debutante who walks in the door to the uninspired service, my choice for an anniversary dinner WONT be Chianti again. We waited in a crowded vestibule at 8pm for a dinner table that was 20 minutes late amongst their bar clientele.
When our olive oil was delivered I think they put our pre-meal bread in to bake. It came in the hand opposite to my antipasto. When I go out for dinner, I expect the chef to create something more then I can create in my own kitchen. My bride and I both ordered a pasta dinner and we’re never offered freshly grated cheese, or even cheese on the table. From the salad to the soup to the antipasto and the entrées the only thing that I would recommend is the coffee. Full disclosure, the profiteroles were pretty good. Bye Bye Chianti.
Started rocky. Even with a reservation and open tables, the hostess sat us in a hallway behind a server station. There were tables available in traditional dining area. Two couples who cane in right before us without reservations received a nice table in main dining area. We complained and were accommodated at another table in main area by the other, younger hostess. Our treatment seemed mean spirited to us and spoiled a nice evening. Meal was great and our waitress was excellent but initial seating was disappointing to say the least.
We have been eating here for 10 plus years. Recently have been noticing a decline on quality & service. I am also tired of being asked quietly if I’d like to have saratoga sparking or flat water and then in a louder tone or the TAP water. How about putting tap water on the table as in NYS it’s a law to have water on a table for choking purposes and if I want to order saratoga sparking I will ask for it. When my husband and I dine out we most likely order a bottle of wine however we had our daughter and knew we weren’t going to be drinking that much . When asked what we like to drink we both ordered a glass of wine each and the waiter then asked if we would like to share a bottle, after we relied no , we felt he was annoyed from then on.
Now the food....my hubby had the risotto which was very good and my daughter had the penne ala vodka which is very good. I had their new salad dolce e amaro ,it came basically without any dressing and was flavorless , I asked for olive oil and I had to salt it , awful. For my dinner I ordered the escarole and beans....I was actually shocked a chef would send it out looking as unappetizing as it was. It looked dried out and I can tell you there was maybe a leaf of escarole, again not flavor barely any oil ...it was awful. Populate spot and again been dining there many many years. Not sure if we will be back too many other spots to go .
Chianti never disappoints! Once again another fine meal. It was nice to enjoy a wonderful atmosphere with flavorful appetizers, stellar entrees and delicious desserts. The staff at Chianti never disappoints with their knowledge of food, wine and offering up their favorites from the menu. If you are looking for fine dining in a beautiful atmosphere with one of the best proprietors (he goes from table to table saying hello) then Chianti is where you need to be.
We were in Saratoga Springs for two nights, and Chianti was the highlight of our trip. While we had a dinner reservation, we decided to sit at the bar with our server Brittany (who was wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable) and watch the NY Yankees/Astros playoff game. The food and drinks were amazing, especially the fennel salad (and I normally do not like fennel). Risotto with filet mignon was excellent, as were the salmon special and capellini entree. Fried calamari could have been more crisp, but that was the only small disappointment. Desserts were also great - I had Spuma de Ricotta for the first time and it was like eating cannoli cream without the shell - right up my alley. All this lessened the disastrous outcome of the game for us - thank you Brittany and Chianti!
The food and service were excellent - in an attractive, stylish atmosphere. Because so much of the interior surfaces are glass or metal the noise level is high. We stopped by earlier in the day upon recommendation from our B&B hosts, and asked that we not sit near the bar and in as quiet a place as possible. They graciously accommodated us. We were there for a 7pm Monday reservation and the noise was moderate but I can see how it could be very loud when all tables are filled. If you don't mind a noisy atmosphere, don't miss the great food.
Chianti Il Ristorante is not a cheap dinner, but it is delicious and the service and atmosphere are great! Our waiter Trent was fantastic and took his time making sure we understood the large list of specials and appetizers. We all split the grilled octopus appetizer and it was FANTASTIC! Don't listen to Trent though that you should buy two of them for four people unless you're a big eater. We all had a decent sized piece of the octopus and there was some left over to take home which I made a delicious salad with. Our meals were all delicious (I tried some of everyones). That's worth a few extra bucks to me. The only negative was that I noticed there was some extra dust building up on the decorative tree in the corner, so if you read your reviews Chianti Il Ristorante, please have someone clean the tree :) Other than that, everything was close to perfect. This was my father's first time there and he can't stop raving about it..... Enough said. Great place to eat with family or friends!
Took a while to get waited on, waiter missed mentioning some enticing specials, waiter did not come back! We ended up getting a different waiter but the experience was already dulled. He was better, more attentive but would have loved to start the dinner on a better note. Our meals came out quickly which was great because our appetites were off the walls. Food was fantastic, ambiance was super romantic.
