Situated in the heart of beautiful downtown Saratoga Springs, Chianti Il Ristorante serves sophisticated, authentic Northern Italian fare in an elegant setting. Combining seasonal food, an award-winning wine selection, a welcoming and knowledgeable staff and a detailed, inviting ambiance Chianti provides every guest with a superb and unforgettable dining experience. Aesthetically inspiring, its rustic walls, hard wood floors and green onyx bar invoke the authenticity of conventional Italian architecture while remaining slightly modern. The culinary philosophy at Chianti is based on a respect for tradition. With artisan breads and pastas, housemade sausage and braised meats it is culinary craftsmanship at its best. Our guests have the chance to savor fresh food, from a selection of expertly-sliced carpaccio, to a variety of wild fish, to risotto that is made only with Vialone Nano rice grown exclusively in Italy's Venetto region. Chianti Il Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
The food and service are very good, but the main dining area is like a cafeteria... Tables are stacked on top of each other with little ambiance. This generates allot of amplified noise, making conversation difficult. Detracts significantly from the dining experience. It's never good when patrons talk more about the noise than the food. They need less tables, and more nice noise absorbing objects ...noise absorbing ceiling and wall tiles would help. I don't go there in the summer... It's far worse when the place is packed.
Our meals were very good but the waiter was not attentive; an addition of a bit of extra arugula on the salad was $8.50 (really) and billed in as a side of spinach. Bizarre. Had not been back for a meal in 8 years; probably will be that long before I do it again.
Chianti's consistently delivers! Chianti's is one of our favorite restaurants in Saratoga and we took the family here over the holidays and everyone enjoyed themselves, thought the food was well prepared with generous portions and liked the ambience. Chianti's offers cooking classes as I can see why. Their dishes add a bit of nuance that is unique to their style of cooking and they all -- waiters, host, bartender -- have fun doing so.
We had friends in from out of town and we picked Chianti because we have had good experiences at other local restaurants owned by the same group, Boca Bistro and Forno Bistro and felt this would be a great chance to try a new restaurant and let our out of town friends experience some of what Saratoga has to offer.
I'll start by saying the food was excellent. Everyone at the table really enjoyed their meals. The dinners were cooked to perfection and the portions were substantial.
However it was difficult to enjoy the meal in its entirety due to our rude waiter "33 Alan B". It was obvious Alan wanted to flip the table as fast as possible. As we were nearing the end of our meal, Alan asked if anyone at the table would like dessert - there was no time between putting the fork down from dinner to let dinner digest to make a decision and have conversation with our out of town guests. As soon as we declined dessert for now, the check was brought out. We went with it. When asked to split the check Alan appeared aggravated by this request and his tone and demeanor acted as if this was a hassle - in today's age this is a very common request. If this is against restaurant policy it should be stated on the menu. After receiving our split checks we left the check presenter with tip at the center of the table and continued conversing with our out of town guests. No additional request to see if we would have liked drinks or waters was made and after some time Alan came and snatched the check presenter without any form of excuse me or manners. This was commented on by us and our guests.
Had our waiter given us time to digest we not only would have been interested in dessert but likely an after dinner drink also. However in the haste to push us out and flip the table the experience was unenjoyable, especially compared to our experiences at Boca Bistro and Forno Bistro.
Overall the food was excellent but the service severely detracted from the experience.
I realize it's the holiday season and restaurants are busy but was a bit disappointed in our dinner experience this time. We booked early to avoid the rush. We were seated at an extremely noisy bar table with a nearly empty dining room next door. We requested a table change and were accommodated. Appetizers of arugula, mozzarella and the salads were good. My beef tenderloin was ordered medium but came well done. My husband's risotto was gummy. Friend's duck and veal chop were good. All in all the food was just ok, not superior as usual. Waiter was great. Will try again but not for a while.
The food is outstanding. Good wine list. My only complaint with this restaurant is the noise level. You can't, and I mean can't have a conversation with your partner. That's how loud this restaurant is. If you decide to go, bring ear plugs with you. They should be supplying these at the entrance. If you are looking for a quiet, romantic setting, find another place to dine.
The quality of the food convinced us to stuff ourselves. Pork belly ragu and sausage-stuffed quail were superb with the duck only small step behind. Even the bread was very good. Our waiter was as good as the food (sorry don't know name, male, close-cropped hair). The only drawback is the noise level - ranging from 'too noisy' at best to 'difficult to converse' when a lively party arrived.
We make Chianti’s our destination restaurant the two times a year we travel to Saratoga. We’ve been going there for the past 4 years and it never disappoints. Knowledgeable wait staff will help you pair the right wine with your food selection. I would recommend most enthusiastically and without reservation.
