I’ve passed by Chianina for years and finally made my way there for a special occasion. The food is phenomenal, but the prices are very high, which puts it in the special occasion category for me. I highly recommend going for amazing fare!
The service was exceptional, food was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our dining.
Special wine tasting food pairing event, food was uninspired and disappointing
Once again we had a very good time. The food was great and our server Kyle was very good. We hadn't been in a while and there were a few changes, but nothing to stop us from coming again.
Lovely dinner and atmosphere! Going back again very soon!
Service, food and bar were outstanding, as always. For cocktails and/or steaks it is as good as it gets.
The risotto was not great. I've had pea rissoto at Harrods in London. This was not even close. Rice was undercooked. The poached egg had the white ropey strands of egg white visible. Tottally gross. The salmon had onion and celery sauce that was not the best complement to this fish. The seared skin was not seared enough. So had to be removed.
Strawberry shortcake was the only highlight.
LB dining week menu was a bit of a miss. The cost was high for what they served.. The Hamachi and salmon were better than the risotto and steak. The steak was chewy and the risotto wasn't that flavorful. Desserts were underwhelming. I've had much better experiences ordering off of the regular menu. I'll do that next time. Have eaten here five times and this was the first bummer.. The Sommelier was great and so was the wine.
We came for a birthday dinner, and decided to go all in and try the porterhouse Chianina. The price was 187 for the steak alone. I bring up the price because it sets an expectation. At that price point you expect the best of the best and this fell short.
The bread they serve was fantastic. The service was on point, her name was Jazmin and she clearly knew her stuff. She was able to answer all questions I had and give in great details what to expect with the food. She certainly brought this review up at least one star.
When the steak arrived it was a little more on the rare side of the medium rare we ordered and it was immediately noticeable that this was a t-bone cut and not a Porterhouse, which is an important distinction as the t-bone has a much smaller Filet. Again this is where the price point and expectations come in. For this price point you expect perfection in all the little details. The knives were serated and were basically sawing through the meat and tearing it apart. Again a small detail, but an important one. For sides we chose Yukon Gratin which were fabulous! Outstanding. We also tried the brocolini but it came out very oil soaked. Less than ideal. The steak was good, but nothing amazing, and certainly not on the level of the Ruth Chris, or Mastros of the world, yet this was higher priced.
Service was outstanding. Waiter was exceptional. A change in managers has made a big difference
in overall service
Excellent food and service. Great cocktails and appetizers.
I was quite disappointed in the steaks. The appetizer and the caesar salad were very good but the steak was not tender. I would’ve expected a much better quality for the price of their steaks.
Order their over $150 steak medium rare.
It came rare, center was raw and cold.
They took it back and reheated it. It was already cut up. Meat was NOT soft. It left a lot to be desired.
This wasn’t even a $20 steak.
Great service and great food! The restaurant was smaller than expected but it worked. It made the experience more personal.
My fiancé and I we love the restaurant. Thank you for your excellent service
It was a very nice dinner romantic and the good was amazing. I would definitely go back. The service was on point very attentive.
The food and service was great but for Valentine’s Day I expected a chocolate dessert. Unfortunately no chocolate so we went with the butter cake with apple crisp and sherbet. I told the waitress not to recommend it to anyone tonight very disappointed.
The food and service were wonderful. They were out of a few things but I will return with a special date to enjoy some of the other items that were sold out, it was a Sunday evening and raining.
It was pretty noisy from adjacent tables that were rather close together. Otherwise, we had a great meal and a superb wine.
Birthday celebration for two of the three of us. No mention of our bday, asked to hurry up since next dinner reservation was at 7:15. They brought our dinner at 7pm. And brought the check as we were still eating and trying to order drinks. They offered to “move us to the bar.” Our dinner rsvp was at 5:30pm. But our dinner didn’t come till 7!
So incredibly rude! Our bill was about $300.00. Food was good, but tiny portions. The “leather” seats were also peeling. Cocktail tasted like lemon water.
Expected so much, will never return. Listen to the other reviews that suggest Mastros. Better value, food and service.
Randy, the GM, and his team of bartenders and servers continue their excellent service, communication and delicious meals. A truly pleasure filled experience of exquisite tastings, mouth watering Chianina Steak and a wine list that is masterfully chosen. (try the Vega Sicilia if you can, stunning)
My wife and I went for our 5 year wedding anniversary. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. For the price and the story behind the special cattle they use, the steak was expected to taste like no other. My wife and I did not agree. We have had $50 steaks that were amazing at other establishments. Service was great though.
I love this place. Still the best restaurant in Long Beach, at least in my opinion
The food can be enjoyed and shared family style which is excellent when gathering with good friends that enjoy good food and drinks! The cocktails were delicious and the Chianina Rib Eye is a must.
Our first time eating there since it was Kelly’s ( we miss the local ambience of Kelly’s ).The location in Naples Island is great and the decor and ambiance is upscale. Everything was excellent however all the steak entry’s were a bit overpriced. We did not eat the Chianina steak as they are way overpriced and past reviews said they are not worth it. We had a Caesar Salad which was excellent ( except if you want anchovy’s, they have the white pickled ones which we do not like) ( lol. So we brought some of our own anchovy’s). As the entry we ordered the Delmonico steak which was very flavorful and perfectly cooked. And, the roasted baby potatoes where also flavorful.. In defense of their high prices, most of the entry’s and sides are large enough to share. We brought a special bottle of wine and the corkage was $25. I envied the sommelier to try it and he was a bit smug saying “ it’s ok” ( it was a Runquist Barbara that won double golds at the Ca. State Fair). Overall a enjoyable evening. I probably wouldn’t go back for dinner however their “ happy hour “ is excellent and priced moderately.
Prices are outrageous. There is no way you need to spend a fortune to have a good steak. Luckily we split one of the common steaks (not chianina type) for a modest portion which prevented us from feeling totally robbed. Strip steak was unmemorable. We also split a lobster pasta which was minuscule in portion and very salty. Brussels sprouts were a little too raw. Oysters were a bad call because it will never be worth spending $4 for one oyster. Other than that service was attentive and ambiance was pleasant.
Great steak! Best old fashion I have ever had!
This was an amazing place, the steak was the best I’ve ever had and it was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary!
We came for the DINE LA offering. At first the service was very slow, we were sat at the bar to wait for our table. The bartender handed us menus but then walked away. He only came back once to let us know he'll be back to take our drink orders. But never came back. We were at the bar for a good 20 minutes sipping water. Good thing we were moved to our table, but again the waiter didn't show up for another 10 minutes. We were so hungry by the time he took our orders. The waiter gave us good service, it just looked like everyone spent more time off the floor than on the floor. Saw other tables waiting for awhile for anything. Table next to us waited 10 minutes for their check.
Everything was great from the moment we walked in the door. Kyle our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and very attentive to our needs as well as Randy. Magnificent job gentleman! Thank you,
We were disappointed in the drink pours. For the money charged the pours should be more generous. We were also disappointed that there wasn't a salmon or halibut option. We like the ambiance and local feel but they would please their customers more if they didn't have such tiny pours.
Absolutely love this place. It’s one of our favorite date night restaurants. The food is always superb and the drinks are outstanding. Definitely recommend this restaurant for any occasion.
Server was inattentive. Steak was dry. Mac and cheese was superb!
It was very nice and easy to carry on a conversation
With my Wife. Maybe time to change up the veggie sides. Steaks are awesome!
One of the best meals we've had in a long time. Every course on the prix fixe menu was amazing. We are foodies and have had a lot of great meals all over the world. Chef Brian and the kitchen hit it out of the park and did a fantastic job. Our cocktails were amazing as well. Each one was unique, well balanced, and tasted great. Service was excellent and the staff did a nice job of being both professional and personal.
We were there for Xmas eve and enjoyed the price fixed menu.
Chef Bryant outdid himself and Randy, the GM and wine expert perfectly paired the wines to the food.,
Our server was professional and paced us as not to be rushed.
We have a love-hate relationship with this restaurant. When it's good it's great, but, when it's not, the issues are severe. Christmas Eve was served with a fix prix menu. We had no warning about that until we got there, which I thought was presumptive of them since they were able to give us reminder emails without including that tidbit of knowledge. We arrived for an early 6:00 reservation. The place was nearly empty, but we were given the worst seat in house - next to the bus station, bar, kitchen and a speaker with loud bad music. We asked to switch tables and were deserted by the surly hostess and left sitting/ standing for a long time until I corralled the manager for action. The first course and drinks were fine, but not remarkable. The ensuing mussels course was so incredibly salty to the point of being nearly inedible. And the steak? It was as leather. Neither of us could eat it. Literally. Couldn't cut it with a steak knife. (And this place is supposed to be known for the quality of their steaks!) And then there was the trout. It looked and tasted like salmon to both me and my wife. The waiter and chef insisted it was trout. OK, if you are going to serve trout that looks and tastes like salmon, maybe you should say something in advance so as not to disappoint normal expectations? And the desert was some kind of awful soupy pudding. Lot's of sugar but mainly tasteless and without texture. We have had some great deserts here, but this one was a disgusting waste of calories. We will give them a pass and go again, and assume that the chef's A Team was off work for Christmas, but that still does not explain the inedible steak at what is supposed to be an uber-steakhouse. And the tab was over $250 before tip, and my wife had nothing alcoholic to drink. I feel kind of masochistic to be willing to go back again, but we have also had great experiences there too.
