Chez Vincent & Hannibal's on the Square
I took my assistants there to lunch so they could try authentic French cuisine. We all had a great time and more importantly, loved the food. My party was very impressed with the authenticity, the presentation and most of all the wonderful French flavors. I had the escargot and they had crab cakes. The escargot was piping hot with just the perfect amount of garlic and butter. The crab was chockfull of crab. Some of us had the French Onion Soup. The soup was hot, full of flavor, and comforting with all the cheese and delicious caramelized onions. For our entrees we had Beef Bourguignon Crepes and Filet Mignon. Pure heaven. I highly recommend this restaurant for lunch and dinner. I believe they also serve brunch.
Very disappointing ! We arrived early for our reservation in Chez Vincent, so decided to have a cocktail in the restaurant next door, Hannibal’s , this was pleasant and noticed that this had a door through to Chez Vincent . So this was actually one restaurant in two parts ( the decor was different but the menus virtually the same). The problems started when we headed into Chez Vincent , there was only one other table with guests which we always find disturbing. We browsed the menu and looked at the wine list , this looked great with a large amount of the various champagnes . Our waiter was French and explained to us where he was from, this was of interest as we spent a great deal of time in France before we relocated to the US . I ordered a rather nice bottle of champagne, but the waiter explained that the restaurant only had one bottle of Champagne from France, Dom Perigon priced at $270. He said that other than that we could only have American Champagne. Having spent so much time in Champagne in France, we know that Champagne can only be harvested in Champagne. How can a French waiter in a French restaurant not know that what Champagne is and where it is made? We decided to leave the restaurant before ordering water or food and went to our favourite restaurant, Luma on the Park, where we got a decent bottle of Champagne reasonably priced with superb service and delicious food.
Fantastic environment for a date, personal service, great value. The food was exceptional. Will certainly return.
Amazing food and service , the server was full of knowledge and recommended great wines and food
Very disappointed! We come to this restaurant every year for my birthday and anniversary and have always loved it!
We found the service was very poor... had to remind the server about our salads and even then when he got them he still forgot one! The goat cheese was much smaller than it used to be.
Used to enjoy the European waiters that used to work there.
Portions were much smaller than they used to be.
Escargot was a little bland... used to love dunking bread into the garlic butter!
Not sure we will go back
Chez Vincent is always outstanding for a special occasion. Not inexpensive but definitely worth it.
Really enjoyed this restaurant. We dined with friends on New Year’ Eve. Everything was delicious and our set was attentive. The prices seemed reasonable and presentation was awesome!
Very nice experience for a first visit. Loved the food, although there should be more gluten-free options or ways to make current menu items gluten-free. (Would be nice to see a flourless chocolate cake on the dessert menu.) We wanted to order the special chocolate mousse dessert but they were already out at 7:30pm???? Only thing that bothered me was that we had a reservation, it was not full and they insisted we sit cramped along the wall banquette between other 2 tops or set a table next to the bar. I was told we could not sit at a 4 top although there were several open. So they set a table for us by the bar. However, when 2 guys showed up shortly afterwards, with no reservations, they immediately sat them at the open 4 top!!! That is not cool! Server, Eddy, was nice.
Excellent food and atmosphere. Service is lacking and needs attention but the food overshadows it! We will be back!
Seems to be a throwback to the 70’s or 80’s in terms of menu and decor. That said, there is something kind of nostalgic and nice about the place. Went here for Christmas dinner and had a really good meal. Food was cooked well and was very tasty. Portions were good. Service was attentive and helpful. As to going back, I am not sure I would - too many other spots that offer a little more in terms of ambiance and food choices.
We so enjoyed our dining experience at Chez Vincent. The cocktails were excellent, and the meals we had were exceptionally prepared and so delicious. The service was on point at each coarse. We all noted how complex yet subtle the flavors are with each dish. As an example, the blue cheese sauce on the lamb dish had just a hint of the cheese taste and was buttery in the way a good béarnaise can be. The portions are a perfect size so that one can enjoy dessert without feeling too full. In particular, I very much enjoyed the atmosphere and the unusual decor. It made me feel as if we were in France somewhere just off of the beaten path. We are already planning Chez Vincent as the place where we will celebrate as a family again very soon.
We’ve dined at Chez Vincent many times over the years. We always enjoy it. I usually get the trout Amanda and my spouse gets the salmon. This visit was for Christmas Eve, just the two of us. We had a 7:30 reservation. We arrived a few minutes late and found the place packed. It took us several minutes to get to the welcome desk. Looked as though they’d overbooked or took lots of walk ins. But after a few minutes we were led to the quiet table we had requested on the Hannibal’s side. We had a perfect corner area where we could be private and yet surrounded by tables of reveling families. We ordered fois gras for an appetizer. My entree was rack of lamb and my husband’s was a perfectly done steak. The portions were just right, not overwhelming. A glass of wine for me and a beer for hubby and fantastic warmed bread left us refusing dessert. The server was great and even took off the cost of our drinks as they’d taken a long while to come. We didn’t mind as we were making an evening of it. A kiss on both cheeks Vincent G! Merci beaucoup.
Horrible experience. We had 2 waiters. One we never saw again after being there 1 hour and 15 minutes. The other seemed to become the bartender and took our order, brought drinks and said he’d be back with bread and more olive juice for my martini. Never saw him against n after at least an hour and asking for our waiter. A lady Waitress was VERY attentive to her tables and told our waiter we wanted him (he looked over but never came). She dropped off our appetizer which may have been good 30 minutes before. Cold congealed cheese with cold steak. She also got me olive juice in my hour old martini. I asked her to re chill it and it came back with ice cubes in it.
That was it I asked for a manager but no one was available because they were too busy so we got up and left. The restaurant next-door got a 40% tip because we were so happy with the last-minute seating and service they provided us.
Christmas Eve was wonderful. The grouper was delicious. Our waiter was attentive and the overall experience was delightful.
First visit. Very good food, the foie grams was exceptionally good and the rest, grouper, pork, chicken, and venison were also very good. The desserts were also very good. The portions for the main courses were a bit small. The service left a lot to be desired. The server was friendly enough but generally not well informed especially about the wine. Have been to many French restaurants and this is the first one where the wine list did not mention the vintage. The server had to keep going to the cellar to find out the vintage year. Felt bad about it but we had two bottles priced at $170 each so thought it was justified. The manager (I think) gave a weak excuse that they don’t write the year because of heavy turnover. Doesn’t make sense. In any case, of the six wines we asked about from the list, only two were available. Besides the wine problem, the server forgot to give us plates for the starters and had to be asked. The same was true for the silverware for the main course. Hopefully, the service issues were one time but they have to provide a more informative wine list. All that said, will certainly go again because, food, the main thing, was very good.
Although the service was OK, the food was not very good with the exception of the French Onion Soup. I have been to amazing French restaurants and this is not one of them. Disappointing!
Great ambience. The attentive staff provided the food and drink at a perfect pace. Food was excellent. All four of us enjoyed different entree’s and shared desserts. Highly recommend.
This was the best meal I have had in a long time. It was our 10 year anniversary and they made every part of this experience special. This a restaurant is one of Central Florida’s hidden gems. If you haven’t been there, you are missing out. Thanks to everyone that had a part on making our day so special! Can’t wait to come back!
We decided to spend our last dinner in Orlando at a French restaurant, and this one did not disappoint. I always had my reservations about French restaurants as they tend to serve very minute portions, and I always end up unsatisfied. To my surprise, the portions were quite generous and the taste pleasantly satisfactory. I had the rack of lamb which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The desserts, however, were disappointing and didn’t quite meet our standards.
The service was quite slow as it was a busy night and our server apologized because a staff had called in sick. He was still very pleasant despite appearing overwhelmed. Overall, I would recommend this place.
Chez Vincent is always a delight. This was the first date restaurant for my beloved wife and I 18 years ago. We return from time to time to enjoy our memories and the amazing menu. The wine selection is outstanding and the food is always so good.
We went for lunch for my mother’s birthday! The French onion soup is by far the best we’ve ever had. It was unreal. The crab cakes I ordered were good. Might’ve needed a little less of the cumin seasoning (my opinion, I’m not a huge fan of that smell or flavor, but then again I’m pregnant and everything is different now). My mom has the chicken crepe, which was SO delicious and huge portion. Both our meals were large. We left full and happy! The restaurant is beautiful, service is so professional and courteous. We will be back for sure!
Chez Vincent is a lovely, quaint restaurant . The service is always excellent. The main course I had was a miss for me. I ordered the venison with port sauce. The venison was served with a heavy gravy, which totally covered the venison. I could not taste the venison, so I was disappointed. The escargot was delicious. I will go back as this is the first time I’ve had a bad main course, and usually the food is great.
We went for lunch, party of 4, and had a great time. Service was friendly and attentive. one person in the group was vegan and they were accommodating and provided very good options. Food was excellent, we will be back!
Used OpenTable and we requested a table on the Hannibal’s side to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. When we arrived, Hannibal’s was closed for a private event. We were not told of this prior to the evening and it did not seem that they were even aware of our reservation. Disappointed in the experience and the apparent lack of communication between openTable and the restaurant. I will call the restaurant directly if we chose to dine there again.
We enjoyed lunch at Chez Vincent. Fabulous French Cuisine and charming...almost like a mini stay cation to France. Antoine was outstanding and such a delight. We enjoyed every minute and plan to return again very soon. Merci Beaucoup & Kudos to ALL.
Food is authentic and most delicious. The rack of lamb melts in your mouth. The cream of mushroom soup is amazing! Chef Vincent cooks the meals himself and personally greets his customers. Very warm and relaxing atmosphere. The service is very timely and friendly. We recently took our son to celebrate his 21st birthday, our waiter Matthew made the evening exceptionally memorable. This is our favorite place to celebrate our anniversary. We highly recommend it but be sure to make a reservation. Bon Appetit!
Visiting from San Diego and we heard wonderful things about the restaurant and Chef Vincent. They were very accommodating to fixing a vegan meal for me .
Every year, we bring a group of people here for a business dinner. Every year, we are satisfied with our meal and excited to return again. This year, our dinner was not as expected. To be clear, the restaurant and service were on par, per usual. Our meals, however, were surprisingly underwhelming. Nothing was particularly bad, but also, nothing particularly great. Everything was just so. In comparison to past visits, it was definitely not to Chez Vincent standards. Perhaps it was an off night.
Food was great atmosphere wonderful service superb will go back soon.
Not impressed. Atmosphere was nice but the quality of service was lacking. Our server evidently had not worked in a fine dining atmosphere prior as evidenced by his lack of attentiveness. Despite my having requested a substitution to the sides and his questions to clarify my order, it was still brought to me in a standard format. Generally when you ask to substitute, they don't bring the items anyway. His explanation - plate was hot so they could not put a salad on it. Funny but everyone's plate looked the same in terms of sides so evidently they just prepare one standard presentation and throw it in a warmer with customer main preferences when they get there....what? Not what you expect from a French restaurant with most main courses over $25; portions were small, overcooked and taste was totally underwhelming. The place is quaint but they'll need to hire or train their wait staff and hire a chef at another level if they want to become anything more than "ok".
Exceptional food and service!
The type of place you fall in love with
We have dined at Chez Vincent several times in past years and have always enjoyed the experience. Four of the five dinners were excellent (included the grouper, rack of lamb, and panned seared duck). The sautéed chicken breast (TPAUPIETTE DE POULET), however, tasted as though it had been stored in a refrigerator for a day or two, was dried out, and over cooked...basically, tasteless. Four out of five still makes this a good restaurant but the chef needs to better oversee the chicken preparation.
I ordered duck and my date ordered venison. He said it was the best venison he has ever had in a restaurant. The food is always very good. It is a great place to dine!
This restaurant never disapoints. Great food, well prepared.
Everything about this place was amazing, from the service, food, atmosphere, and drinks. Will definitely recommend for a quiet date.
Chez Vincent is always wonderful! It is a charming neighborhood restaurant.
I'm a French man living in Florida and their food brought me back to France in the best way. Great service. Definitely coming back for special occasions
The ambiance is so nice. The vocalist was wonderful!
