Chez Philippe - The Peabody Memphis
A Southern take on an elegant English tea service, The Peabody's Afternoon Tea is served in high style in Chez Philippe.
Excellent service by Auston and entire staff. The 4 course menu was outstanding. As each dish came out, it was explained in detail. The presentation of each dish was beautifully presented. We were celebrating friend's 40th birthday and it was definitely a memorable one. We had the best time. Thank you.
My daughter and I booked a late afternoon seating for tea. Everything about it was amazing.
Great place for a private meal. Service is close to perfect.
First and perhaps most importantly, that a French-inspired restaurant at this price point was willing to produce a tasting menu for vegetarians that was not explicitly offered on the menu was great. It is also worth mentioning that they clearly have worked very hard at producing a very well oiled machinery around their service. That said, if I contrast this with a restaurant like August (in New Orleans) which, in theory, should be somewhat comparable, August wins in almost every imaginable dimension. The food is ok, though there were taste, balance, and seasoning issues, nothing that said wow, nothing either of us would want to enjoy again. The service was mechanically great, but not human at all. So take this review with a grain of salt, I am sure we are not the target audience given that we requested a vegetarian menu. Perhaps the meats are worth the visit, but the vegetables are not.
We had a wonderful meal, perfectly prepared, and fantastic service from our waiter, Jon. He was helpful and engaging while allowing us plenty of time to enjoy our meal.
We will definitely be back again!
This is a great place for special occasions. I wish they had an a la carte menu instead of the 4 Course Menu.
We had such an incredible experience! The restaurant is lovely. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The food was delicious, creative, and innovative. We had the 4 course meal and the wine pairing. (No way we could have managed the 7 course meal!). It was well worth the price. I would definitely go again!
As always, our dinner at Chez Philippe was amazing. The service was phenomenal. Our service was kind and welcoming. The chef even came out to see how our evening was going. His food is amazing. It is delicious and beautiful. This is an excellent choice for a special occasion.
My friend had perfect food and a perfect evening. I will be back soon
This not just a meal. It is a dining experience and priced as such. The food and service are about as good as it gets. Expect to pay for it. It is expensive but worth it for a special occasion.
Very romantic and casual upscale environment—It was perfect for any special celebration. Ours was our 1st year Anniversary. The presentation of the food was superb. We were so full we had to take the “after dessert” dessert to go. The food was very flavorful & enough to fill my husbands belly! Don’t miss this jewel!
Everything was excellent! The food was creative, beautifully presented, and the flavors were perfect. Each course that came out was an exceedingly pleasant surprise and there were between course surprises too! Service was gracious and attentive. The wine pairings were fantastic and we took down several names to buy when we get back home. Anyone who has a chance to dine here should not hesitate!
Always an exquisite experience! Well worth it for special occasions.
Undoubtedly the finest restaurant in the Memphis area. The service was outstanding and the food was impeccable and imaginative.
First-time patrons. Had a wonderful 7 course paired tasting menu at Chez Philippe for our anniversary. What a great experience, trying a variety of the chef's dishes, presented in creative ways on various artsy plates, along with some nice white and red wine selections. Our server, Solomon, was very friendly and professional, and he and his colleagues were attentive while not rushing us. The ambiance and noise was negatively impacted by hotel lobby noise (entrance to restaurant is just off lobby with no doors), as well as noise from music being played (mostly bass from dance music) in one of the ballrooms for a party or wedding reception. The wines with dinner were tasty and well-matched to the food, but for the cost, none of the selections were special or expensive, especially when compared to the wines on the full wine list. Quite expensive, but worth it for a truly special occasion!
We have the four course meal with wine pairing and it was excellent! We enjoyed the extra treats that were added to our meal as well. Our waiter was excellent and the staff worked well together. Our food was very tasty and perfectly cooked. The food is pricey, but it is occasionally worth it to us on special occasions.
The service and food was excellent!
Our first true French fine dining experience. Had the four course meal and left fulfilled. Appreciated the surprises during and after the meal that we’re off-menu. Great experience and good food. Excellent service with extreme attention to detail.
Beautiful grand room
Food over ambitious
Everything on the sweet side of the palate
Lobster bisque too sweet
Red wine reduction for the beef to sweet
Dessert Perfect ....
Wine tasting menu + $50, way to expansive for the wines served
Amazing food, just right portions. Great service with friendly staff. Worth the visit to Memphis. Expensive but worth a spurge.
It was a most pleasant experience. We felt as if we were the only customers in the restaurant. The atmosphere was warm and romantic. The staff made us feel as we were there main priority. We were not rushed between courses and the staff assisted in helping my husband who is disabled with going and coming in the restaurant. The food was delicious and the portions more than enough. Each course through out the meal seemed to build upon the next and at the end we were more than full. Many thanks to the staff and chef.
We had such an amazing time. Jon and Carolyn took great care of us and made the night one to remember. So happy we were able to get a reservation and experience Chez Philippe. Great for a date night or special occasion.
Beautiful surroundings complement the exquisite tastes you will experience when eating at Chez Philippe what a wonderful place. Will definitely have to go here again!
Dinner at Chez Philippe was exactly what we expected. The food was superb and service excellent. The room was beautifully appointed. A perfect evening indeed!
My husband and I traveled to Memphis for a weekend getaway and decided it would be fun to take in a nice dinner while visiting the world-famous Peabody hotel. Little did we know we were in for the meal of our lives. Our server, Auston, made feel immediately welcome and explained the dinner options to us. We decided to go with the 4-course meal with the wine pairing. The sommelier (Priyaank) took the time to pour each wine himself and tell us why it was chosen with the course. Our meal was exquisite; the wines were perfect and our dessert was delectable. In between courses we were treated to surprise goodies. Apart from the customary palette cleansers such as sorbets, we were given melt in your mouth cheddar biscuits, stone fruits cold soups, pre dessert sweets and post dessert treats. We were even sent home with bags filled with additional snacks and a hand written thank you note signed by the staff. We travel often and love to sample local restaurants wherever we go. Chez Philippe easily ranks among the best meals we have ever had. I recommend that anyone who finds themselves in Memphis, TN do themselves a favor and book a table for dinner.
It was a really good Dino g experience!!! Our waitstaff did a good job and food was excellent.
This was a wonderful experience, from the greeting when we arrived 'til we said goodnight. Every dish was wonderful and our servers were great. I especially loved the beverage we were served to start. I look forward to going again.
I loved it. The service and food was fantastic I enjoyed it and would definitely go back. It’s a special occasion dinner.
Impeccable service with an Incredible array of menu choices. Gourmet fine dining. Atmosphere was serene and intimate. Our waiter, Byram, was attentive and personal. It was a wonderful experience.
By far the best French restaurant I’ve ever been to. Superior service and attention to detail. John took very good care of us.
Tea service was wonderful!
Great food and service that is second to none.
This is a gem. Inventive food, excellent flavors. Impeccable service. The highlight of our trip to Memphis
Wonderful gormet dinning experience! Ambiance, staff, presentation all excellent.
Our waiter was poor at best, never asked if we wanted a cocktail before dinner and never asked if we wanted coffee or anything else with our dessert. We needed to ask him.
The new menu, not a fan and won’t be back until that changes.
The restaurant has been our go to for special occasions for years and an A+ every time. This time a C- at best. Very disappointed.
Chez Philippe was everything and more. It was the complete dining experience we were looking for. Hoping to come back someday
My friend and I enjoyed a delicious and beautiful afternoon tea at Chez Philippe to celebrate our birthdays. I can think of nothing negative to say about it. It was perfect. From the food which was divine, the servers who made us feel like royalty and the atmosphere that was gorgeous. I don’t usually write sappy sounding reviews, but it really was THAT enjoyable. I am still dreaming of the delicious blueberry scone...
Elegant, pricey, and a wonderful experience. Just go!
I rarely get the opportunity to eat restaurant desserts because of food restrictions. Chez Philippe was able to prepare several desserts that I could eat and they were fabulous!
Fine dining at its best in Memphis.
The overall experience is five star.
