Este establecimiento elegante de fusión francesa y asiática se encuentra en London Road en St Albans y es un restaurante cosmopolita con un toque de glamour inspirado en Josephine Baker y el estilo Shanghai de los años '20. El restaurante es llevado a sus comensales por el equipo detrás de los aclamados restaurantes Mumtaj Tandoori, Chez Mumtaj Restaurant y Saffron Champagne Lounge y es un éxito entre personas de la localidad. Delicious food cooked with Indian spices and beautifully presented. Certainly not like your usual Indian restaurant! Far more sophisticated. Pleasant spacious surroundings and quiet with a slightly old fashioned feel. Good service. A bit pricey but worth it for good food.

Excellent as always, Would have been top marks apart from no mint sauce supplied with popadoms and after being seated at the table no drinks order was taken for over 10mins with only being five tables occupied on a Monday night we could not understand the delay.

First review ever on Open Table and that's because the food at Chez Mumtaj was outstanding. Best food I've had in St. Albans.

Sensational restaurant. The only thing lacking is the ambience! Not enough people dining here. It's seriously undervalued by the people of St Albans. The reason for this is probably due to the look of the outside of the restaurant. It's dark and dingy and looks more like an office than a place to go and dine. But get past this exterior and head for the tables and be utterly delighted by the 5 star cuisine worthy of a Michelin star. Anyone we take to Chez Mumtaj is blown away by the food and can't understand why it isn't full to the rafters. To be fair we've only dined there at lunchtimes and I've heard it's busy on the evenings (esp Fri, Sat & Sun)...I think a large part of their problem, aside from the exterior, is the self titled "French Indian Cuisine" - what does that mean? People generally won't know! "Asian Fusion" might be better. Anyway, I wish this restaurant HUGE success! It deserves it!

Have been on a number of occasions and it never disappoints. Offers a significantly different experience to a more traditional Indian restaurant.

Excellent dining experience. Totally unlike your usual Indian Curry House, this is something special, but not that much more expensive than you'd expect to pay. Exquisite food. Buzzing atmosphere. Great selection of wines. Feels high end but not pretentious. One word of warning though, they've not booked my table 3 times in a row so make sure you call up to confirm your booking and get their name.
