As always we had a wonderful evening. The staff are so polite and accommodating. The food is delicious and we felt very safe with the covid precautions. We will be back
Great Indian food. Friendly service. Would prefer if wsiters wore visors and if we didn’t get approached by 4 different staff to minimze risk of Covid infection
My partner and I went to Chez Mumtaj, which is our favourite restaurant - we spent our first day there in September 2019. We were given our favourite table. The food was outstanding as usual. The service was first class. The rice arrived a little late so we were given two glasses of champagne to apologise. I wish them well during these trying times, and pray they will still be running when the COVID is in the past.
his place serves the best Indian I have had and I don't say that lightly. I really enjoyed my evening here. The dish portions were spot on, and the food was unbelievably tasty. As for the restaurant itself, the staff are lovely, all chatty and very friendly and the atmosphere was buzzy but no loud. If you go, I recommend the Duck Samosas and the Chicken Biryani. My husband had the Lamb Rogan Josh and love it.
This was our last dining out the experience before lockdown part 2 So we took the advice of our children that highly recommended Chez Mumtaj as the Best of its kind. So Pleased to report we could not have enjoyed it more ;-)
Great meal and flavours.
Good atmosphere in the restaurant and service was efficient - especially with current time restraints although didn't feel rushed.
Enjoyed dahl and chana dishes from the vegetable sides. Friends enjoyed lamb dishes. Plenty of choice so you will need more than one visit to experience then menu.
We’ve been here a number of times this year and booked it for a 50th celebration and took 2 new timers. It was like a ordinary Saturday night curry house, poor service and average food but high prices. We ordered our first set of drinks 3 times and it took 30 mins to get them, not acceptable.
Disappointed and embarrassed that we dragged our relatives up to St Albans for a special dinner with just average food. Disappointed.
The staff need to also understand that when wearing gloves you don’t keep touching your mask that also sits under your nose! Poor management on PPE!
They couldn’t find my booking at the time of arrival and after 50 mins waiting they could give us the table(booked for 7:30 pm) and we didn’t get our main course until 9:25 and we’re not able to finish our dinner by 10 pm and was denied the desert.
Fantastic night, thank you very much! Highly recommend to others.
I love this restaurant -
we usually go mid-week -
so the atmosphere was busy/active...
I prefer the quieter mid-week experience.
Will come back soon
We were in St Albans for work and were recommended this restaurant. It did not disappoint, the menu had so much wonderful choice we ordered 3 starters between 2, a main course each and 3 sides. A lovely bottle of wine and great service. I definitely recommend it and will come again if I am ever back this way
This was our second time to visit. Lovely meal. Friendly service. Shame it wasn’t busier. Would definitely recommend. Salmon Tikka was extremely tasty!
The experience - very special
Always enjoy our curry at Chez Mumtaj. Service very good as always.
The food here is really great. The dishes are varied and full of flavour. A little gem in st albans.
The food was very nice and so was the service. We’ll be back!
Staff were lovely and food was delicious. `Masks worn and staff kept there distance.
Such a lovely evening in Chez Mumtaj! We’ll be back soon
It is now an Indian restaurant - not fusion. Very expensive for an Indian. No longer has the fusion special touch.
The food was good, but nothing special. Good Indian food.
The only thing which was different for me was the desert of pear stuffed in zaffron.
Excellent food and setting, well managed within covid constraints
Wonderful to see Chez Mumtaj open again and observing very strict procedures. The fusion menu is not being served yet due to the limited numbers but there's an excellent choice of Indian food and ours was to the usual very high standard.
Highly recommended
Absolutely incredible. I cannot recommend chez mumtaj enough! Some of the best curry and crafted fusion dishes I’ve ever tasted
This was our 3rd visit and we were not disappointed. It was a special meal to celebrate my husbands 70th birthday. The service is impeccable as is the food. We will return.
Lovely people, excellent service and tasty food
Great food & we had no issues with the service- we went on a Thursday evening. We really enjoyed ourselves and would go back
Excellent food, friendly staff. Third visit, will keep coming back
This restaurant is by far my favourite.
The fish dishes are amazing. The staff are lovely and welcoming
We go chez all the time and we’ve never had a bad meal or a bad word to say
Keep it up guys see you soon
Superb food. Service was excellent. Nice ambience for a Valentine’s Day meal with a great menu. I would definitely recommend dining there on any occasion.
Chez Mumtaj is consistently excellent. Food is imaginative and delicious; service is impeccable; the restaurant is stylish without being stuffy. It is always a treat to go there.
From a service and seating perspective CM is the best in St Albans. Nothing to beat sitting back in those well upholstered seats and be served by the best service crew I've come across.
Thank you for a fantastic evening, we both enjoyed the flavour and originality of your creation.
Thoroughly recommend to everyone!!!!
Probably the best place to eat St Albans bar none.
Remains our favourite place.
Fabulous food as always. Chad’s award winning cooking never fails to delight.
Unusual flavours, outstanding service and a great ambience. Will definitely be going back and would highly recommend.
Fantastic evening from start to finish. Made very welcome, great service and gorgeous food.
Food was superb. Service was a little slow
Very good - as always.
The food was fantastic - as always. The only downer is the wine list - cheap wines don’t go well with excellent food.
