Enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Chez Loma before the Lamb’s Players show. The prix fixe menu delivers! Wonderful food. Great service. Highly recommended.
We requested to sit with the view on street level, they sat us in the restaurant with a great view of street and open bar. Our waitress was new, very pleasant, food knowledgeable and took 4 patrons orders from appetizers, salad, first course and wine without writing it out. Impressive! Great service and our food was delicious! Try duck tacos, beef Bourgogne and seafood bouillabaisse!
Wonderful food and a great value, especially the salmon with the mysterious sauce beneath. And don't even get me started on the mousse----
We usually go to Chez Loma before seeing a play or musical at the Lambs Players Theatre. My husband likes the boeuf bourguignon and reported it was good as always. I usually have the duck but this time it was sauced with orange rather than the usual cherry sauce so I opted for bouillabaisse instead. The fish stew wasn't as good as I expected - had potatoes for some reason and a lot of them - I would have preferred more fish and less potatoes. Would probably not order this dish again. The bouillabaisse at Tartine Bistro is much better.
This was our first time to the restaurant, and we loved it! The food, service, and ambiance was inviting, quaint, and delicious. We will enjoy again when in Coronado and refer friends to this lovely place. We enjoyed the prize fix menu from 5-6 PM for $31.
Great place! Love Cheryl, best bartender in Coronado! Highly recommended.
Great place, reminded us of Paris.
The Chez Loma visit is always a teat as was this last visit. We enjoy their wine menu choices and their rose wine. Eggs Benedict is a standby and always tasty. I hop that once when I order mussels they will be available, I don’t know if it is a supply or seasonal issue, but this place has the best ever mussels I’ve ever eaten, but recently they’ve been unavailable. Service is always polite and attentative. I ended up with the steak and frites which both were tasty and nicely prepared.
I dined at Chez Loma when visiting Coronado last year with my daughter who is a French teacher. We both loved it! This year a daughter-in-law arrived for a few days and I knew I would have to take her to Chez Loma also. We both had the rack of lamb, as was the choice last year. It was every bit as good as previously and my guest was delighted with our dining experience as well. It is a bit spendy, but certainly worth it for a special guest or occasion!
Excellent meal of Chilean Sea Bass. Michael, our waiter, was patient and knowledgeable.
I've been dining here for several years and the chef is excellent and extremely consistent. All he needs to do is have a more varied menu, not the same thing ALL THE TIME!
Please get a little creative and add a few specials each week, we'd love to try them.
We'd also go to your restaurant more often if we knew that something fresh and new might be on the menu... but it's usually just the regular menu. By the Way, Your regular items are amazing and always excellent, don't get me wrong. I know I can always bring guests there and it will be superb, however, we like a little culinary adventure once in a while. Please, Chef, figure it out.
Our all time favorite restaurant in San Diego! Menu, hospitality and ambiance make this gem sparkle.
We enjoy the ambiance of Chez Loma especially on the porch. The bar tender Cheryl served us a fabulous tasting champagne cocktail of her own recipe. Eggs Benedict are always a staple tasting good and spicy hollandaise. The Mexican dish was bathed in delicious mole sauce and salad toppings. We enjoy the weekend brunches and occasionally the evening dinners, good value dining before 6:00 p.m.
My wife and I really enjoyed Chez Loma very much. The atmosphere and service really helped make our anniversary great. Thank you!
Just a overall great place and food is incredible. Must go place if in the area.
Loved this restaurant! I brought my husband here for an early birthday celebration. Our table was upstairs and it was very romantic and quiet. The wine menu offered several really good options that were nicely priced and delicious. We ordered the onion soup and Caesar salad, which was quickly served and very tasty. Our main courses were the filet and duck breast; both were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious! We finished with the red pears and creme brûlé for dessert, and both met the high standards that had been set by the previous dishes. Yummy! Our server Siobhan was so personable and attentive and made our experience even more enjoyable. Thank you for a perfect romantic evening!
Will come back
Very small bar area to wait in for your table. The bartender was very stressed out, and she could not handle the amount of people waiting for drinks .
We never miss Sunday brunch (Salmon Eggs Benedict), when we visit Coronado. We love eating in the bar and watching the walkers, strolling on the adjacent sidewalk. The bartender sees us walk in, smiles, and queries, "The usual?" It's a tradition.
Pre-theater Saturday night dinner. We ordered 3 course and it was service complete in under 1 hour 15 min. 1st course we choose onion soup and heirloom tomato salad, main course was Seabass for her and Beef Bourguignon for me. We ended with a shared gingerbread. Overall very good. Beef entree was smaller than hoped for, while fish was a good size serving. Desert had a wonderful whipped topping but the baked portion lacked ginger flavor.
Wonderful service and meal! We met our friends for dinner, a couple we hadn’t seen for several months. Our waitress and table service was very nice, the chef was kind to come out and greet us, and the food nicely served and excellent: short ribs, fish, and two lamb racks.
We were celebrating my husband's 72nd birthday and it was a very relaxing intimate dinner with our family. The food was excellent, our server was helpful and I would definitely dine there again and recommend Chez Loma to our friends.
Food was delicious. We had sea bass and salmon. Service was great. Sabrina was attentive and pleasant. Dessert was. ..,, aaahhhh.
Excellent French cuisine.Requested appetizer of sweetbreads and was accommodated even when not on menu
Wonderful service, superb food and wine add to the charm of this vintage building.
The only downside to our visit was our wait for our table, it was almost 40mins past our reservation time.
Chez Loma is a little jewel of a restaurant! Everything is absolutely amazing; the salads, the ceviche, the entrees & for dessert: the pavlova!
Well thought out pre fix menu for Valentine’s Day
We have been to Chez Loma a number of times over the years and this particular visit was the best to date. Everything was prepared perfectly, the server, although new, did a fine job. The entire experience was very we’ll executed
Not a good experience at all. The server was very inexperienced, she wasn't able to talk about the food with any knowledge at all. I ordered escargot , which the menu stated came with sweetbreads. Whelm the dish came I noticed that there wasn't any sweetbreads in the dish. The server had no idea what sweetbreads are and looked confused when I stated that there where none in the dish. I asked her to speak with the chef, which she did and reported that "the chef said we are out of sweetbreads". No apology or offer of substitution or compensation. My beef bourguignon was tasteless and appetizer sized. The room very cold, music to loud.
Don't go to this restaurant it is very disappointing and not worth the money. We spent $100 for 2 entrees and 1 appetizer and 1 glass of wine, totally not worth it !
Dining at Chez Loma is a treat. If you’re an onion soup fan, it’s a must order. Their mussels are also scrumptious and little bread rolls addicting. Poached salmon was delicately flavored and served on a unique blend of tasty vegetables. Dessert poached pears are also excellent unless you’re getting the gingerbread Carmel sauce cake, yum. We enjoyed their courteous and friendly wait staff .
Menu was very good, but a little limited. Service was professional.
as always the meal was delicious and Sabrina was excellent as always
My server was inexperienced and did not ask if I wanted a second glass of wine. The bus boy did not fill my water. We were celebrating our anniversary. I don't eat meat and asked that bacon be left off the dish. She brought my meal with bacon. The food was good once it was right but we were completely ignored. The waitress knew she messed up but made not attempt to make us feel better. I was very disappointed.
The food and cocktail were well executed. Kudos to chefs and bartenders. The wines by the glass were exceptional and superbly recommended by our service staff. The dining area had the classiness we recalled from years back.
Dinner for four, asked for a quiet table, had to ask twice for music to be turned down. Food was OK but not great. Ran out of fois gras which two of our table had ordered, when the waitress who seemed overwhelmed returned she only brought one menu to re-select from. I had the filet for a main, undercooked and cold when I got it. Two had the seabass which they liked. Gingerbread was dry and looked like a large brick. Mehhh.
Food was good, but quite pricey. Server was attentive. A little disappointed that I indicated on the reservation it was a milestone birthday celebration, and there was no acknowledgement by the hostesses or wait staff. A restaurant at this price point should do better than that.
Food was very good, reasonable prices. Service was a little slow. We were asked if we wanted more water when our glasses were empty, then didn't get water until we asked later. Only one waitress for the upper floor.
Food was really outstanding. And they handled by food allergy successfully too!
I love Chez Loma. An icon in Coronado, it has maintained its authentic French cuisine quality, it has friendly wait-staff and servers, its atmosphere is superior with the right balance of quiet energy. Very European without being stuffy. We stumbled onto Wine Wednesday and their Happy Hour keeps the prices manageable, but we keep this as our special occasion dinner destination.
