Chez Loma Ratings and Reviews
Wonderful experience! We arrived a little early before our reservation time, but still got seated without a problem. The servers were so helpful and very enthusiastic - they made us feel very welcome. Food was outstanding - so good! We definitely will spread the word about this great restaurant. Thank you.
In general, the meal was very good. The mains were excellent, the steak a particular highlight. However, we had a reservation at 645 & weren’t seated till 735. All throughout, the hostess did a poor job managing expectations & no one more senior came out to apologize. While the desserts were free, the initial wait left a bad impression.
There was a time in my life when this would have been a special occasion place only. Now, I must say it serves as simply delightful ambiance, excellent service, and masterfully executed food. It can be your favorite neighborhood nook, your special date, or your celebration splurge. Any way you cut it, it is delightful. Clearly well managed by a talented manager and a skilled chef.
Went to Chez Loma for Thanksgiving, 2 adults and two children 12 and 7yrs. Food was super. Service, while friendly, was slow to deliver menus after seating, take our order for beverage, entree, desert, bringing the check and collecting payment. We were at the restaurant for almost 2.5 hours. Maybe the staff thought they were leaving us room to relax? Maybe, but parties who were seated after us had their orders taken before us, and served before us and had their accounts settled before us. We could not get the staff's attention to communicate our desire to speed things up. While a quiet location, I would not say the table/seating is comfortable enough to be considered worthy of lounging. Luckily, our two girls have good manners so there was never a tale side difficulty. Nether the less, we did release them to sit on the porch during the final 15 minute wait for our payment to be collected.
Regardless, we would return for the food. And the deserts - so good! But not for the coffee. And we would be more circumspect about who we brought as dining companions next time.
First before anyone else was there it was good.
As soon as other people came we were ignored, there wasn't enough staff and no one came to the table without us having to say something.
The steak was fatty and tough. When I said I was disappointed, the waiter started yelling at me.
I'll never go back. Horrible.
It was a lovely, quaint little restaurant in a beautiful neighborhood just 2 blocks from the Hotel del Coronado. The service was excellent! We were taken to our table right at the time of our reservation. The food was very good. My husband had a duck entree and loved it. I had salmon but was quite disappointed. The side dish was delicious but the salmon was lukewarm and overdone with very little flavor. They surprised us with a yummy creme brulee for our anniversary which was nice. The ambiance was wonderful but since it's such a small intimate setting it can be a little annoying if a few of the other guests are overly boisterous.
My husband and I just wanted a quiet, intimate place to have dinner before going to Lamb's Players. We arrived a little early, were seated and given plenty of time to enjoy our wine before ordering. We chose the early bird menu and were pleased with the choices.
Service was good, food was good and location was good.
This has been a must stop for us when we visit Coronado. The food is excellent, but the service has traditionally been slow. Don't believe it's the servers, but the kitchen area. That said, it seems they always have only one server for the entire restaurant. This visit was no exception and perhaps the longest dining experience we've experienced. Rethinking if we will return. Great venue and food, but be prepared for a long evening.
We have been meaning to go toChez Loma for a long time. It was OK---nothing fantastic.
It took probably almost 10 minutes for a server to acknowledge us once we were seated. She was pleasant and knowledgeable. We had the pate and french onion soup as appetizers. They were very ho-hum. Entrees stood out more: Lamb and duck. Pretty good. My husband ordered pears in wine for dessert. It was good, not WOW! Although we live in Coronado, Chez Loma won't be a regular destination.
