They closed permanently so we paid for an uber to go all the way there for nothing. Your services needs to be more on top of things like this
reliable neighborhood French bistro with excellent food
The overall dinner was good, however, the fish entree was not fresh.
Service was fine, ambiance is good.
Not garlicky enough for a restaurant that purports to be Provencal cuisine.
This restaurant is an old favourite that caters to Greenwich Village locals. The food is standard French bistro, always tasty, reliably good; the ambiance traditional French country style; the service friendly. Their pre-theater menu is especially good value.
there were 3 of us and we all order the same dishes and they were delicious and the portions were just right, the goat cheese croquettes were way too small and only 4 on a plate, they should of gave us 6 so each of us could have 2 each. Keep up the great food and hope u last another 40 years.
Have been going to Cafe Jacqueline for years and have never had a bad meal or experience. Easily my favorite restaurant of this ilk in the Village/Soho area. Def on the Real !
Great food, good atmosphere, a lot of profesionalism. Very good restaurant.
CJ advertises that it has been in existence for 30 years--and it feels like it. The best part of our experience there was the waiter. He was excellent, but nothing else was. The glass of wine was fine, the martini not (avoid). At 8:00 on a Friday night there was one other two, the rest of the restaurant was empty and stayed mostly that was until we left. A very strange feeling....The bread was fine, the pasta okay, the mussels not. And the bill without dessert but with tip was over $100. We won't be back.
Excellent dinner with friends. Delicious food, charming ambience, caring service.
A perfect little gem - we stumbled over it by pure luck - their meat was excelent and the service was perfect
We were able to take advantage of a prix fixe meal: an outstanding value. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the portions were not smaller despite the value. If you are in the city between 5 and 6:30, you can't find a better dinner than this.
If you are looking for authentic French cuisine with a quaint, rustic ambiance and fantastic service Chez Jacqueline should be on your list. The onion soup, trout almandine, & the daube nicoise were standout items :)
We met friends from DC and had drinks at the bar our table was ready on time . The service was professional, the food was very good in addition to an interesting menu the specials were great.
A good meal for four with appetizers and dessert, meat and fish specials were both excellent. They had menu items that are rare, and authentic.
Informal, cosy, great food, nice jazzy music.... Perfect! We were a group of 20 and they had no problem accommodating a large party (unlike most places that impose a set menu and a booking fee), very friendly staff
Chez Jacqueline serves Provençale style bistro fare in a pleasant vaguely old-world/genteel-but-slightly-run-down setting. It's a very good neighborhood standard.
We'very eaten there many time and have never been disappointed!
Food and service are always wonderful! It is a gem that stands on its own despite all the neighborhood gentrification.
One of my favorite restaurants. Everything is great. Great food, friendly service. Quaint French restaurant. My go to place.
Good food , we each had lamb
Wine was good
LOVE this place. My husband came in after running several blocks in a downpour. We were DRENCHED! They offered us napkins to dry off and then the waitress brought a table cloth for me to wrap up in as I was cold. The service was friendly and on it. The food was fantastic and we particularly enjoyed the Onion Soup. I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning when I return to NYC next year.
A really lovely experience. Food was wonderful, service was good, and the environs were charming. I want with my daughter, and we were able to relax and eat well for 2.5 hours. Get the foie gras if it's available.
Wonderful place. So accommodating and fun. I Staff if great and so is the food! Love going back. I have been there to celebrate several birthdays and they help to make them special.
Perfect find for a birthday dinner! Louis was amazing and so sweet! Def will be back!
Wonderful onion tart and mussels and great wait staff.
Recently had dinner on a weekday night with some with colleagues. Decided to go to Chez Jacqueline since it's near the office. The weather was beautiful this night and the window of the restaurant were all open and the lights fairly dim. It was a lovely ambiance. We shared appetizers which were all good - grilled shrimp, haricots verts with chicken livers and olive tapenade. Meal was spaced out just perfectly. Entrees came out of the kitchen still steaming and were all outstanding. I've had too many meals at pricey NYC restaurants where the entrees are served barely warm. Ugh! I had the black linguini with seafood which was fantastic. Portion sizes are more than generous. Bread is delicious and served warm - no charge for bread which I know some restaurants are now doing. Geez. Will definitely visit again and highly recommend.
Had the red snapper special, deliciously fresh. Bandol rose complemented it perfectly. This restaurant has everything you would expect in a traditional French bistro. Wonderful service on a consistent basis.
Excellent bistro fare. Most recent visit I had mussels with white wine sauce and a potato gallette. So filling I declined a dessert -- but highly recommend the tarte tatin.
The food was excellent, the service was very good, the staff was friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is comfortable and quiet, you can hear each other speak.
Creme brûlée was the best part of the meal!
I took my family to Chez Jacqueline for a pre-theater dinner. I have been here before several times. I have always had at least a good meal here, but this time everything was perfect! The food was delicious and our waiter was very friendly and helpful. All around it was simply a terrific meal.
Service is outstanding but food just alright. Overall value good. Would go back just to deal with the wait staff and manager
Had a really pleasant dinner here - quite a small place; soups and entrees (I had a black pasta, my wife had the cassoulet) were all very nice, tasty, etc. Nice service, nice ambiance, quiet but nice music. Also a very nice price (and a moderately priced wine list by NY standards). We will add this place to our list.
Knowledgeable server with great recommendations. Quaint, intimate ambiance.
Honestly, everything was really good, carpaccio was fantastic, desserts impressive, steak perfect temperature and the price was reasonable... I'll be back.
You should be aware that Chez Jacqueline will cancel your reservation after you've paid your check. Yes, they cancel it with Open Table so they don't have to pay any thing. This is the third time this has happened, and each time I call back it was a "mistake" THREE TIMES!?!?
The food has gotten worse, and the attitude as well. Very snooty for such a casual Village place. We will never go back again and would definitely NOT recommend it!!
I've eaten here a couple of times, when attending events at the Greene Space (in the neighborhood.) It's friendly, warm, cozy; and the food is reliably good. Only disappointment on my most recent visit was the cheese board -- inadequately described by the server, and not sufficiently varied -- just 3 cheeses (including a mess of stilton which had fallen apart, and a tiny wedge of brie...) I know this place can do better than that. Cheeses notwithstanding, I will come back to this enclave of warmth, civilization and (mostly) good food.
kind of ok. I won't elaborate.. but it isn't what it used to be..
and they could definitely cook their food longer.
One of the best meals this year. Great food. Awesome atmosphere. Terrific service. We will be back!
Chez Jacqueline has re-opened and its adoring patrons breath a sigh of relief!
