Chez Colette - Sofitel Philadelphia Ratings and Reviews
My family went for Sunday brunch after a fund raising walk on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. We all had the buffet. It was a great value for 23 dollars per person. The eggs , bacon and sausage were all well prepared and delicious. Additionally, there was fresh fruit and very tasty pastries such as croissants and Danish. We were all very pleased and will return.
I was expecting a grander buffet from a Sotifel, a brand I have positive associations with. The buffet was, though, a limited, predictable selection, and a lot it was looking tired -- mounds of French toast piled in a covered tray that looked like it had been there a while by the time we arrived; some tomato thing that looked half-uncooked. I bagged the buffet idea and ordered off the menu. We ordered salmon eggs benedict, and it just wasn't very good. The pancakes were pretty good. The coffee, I will say, was very good, but apart from that it was just shabby -- closer to what I'd expect at a cheaper chain hotel than a Sofitel restaurant named Chez Colette. The sparse crowd on a Sunday at 11 -- when it's hard to get in elsewhere -- should be a clue to management that it's time for some improvements.
Took several minutes to be seated let alone acknowledged-- and quite a while until our breakfast was served. Another couple who arrived and was standing in line behind us left after they were seated and didn't receive any service or acknowledgement for 10-15 minutes. Fresh squeezed OJ was a treat and delicious. Enjoyed blueberry preserves, chocolate croissant and raisin cinnamon pastry.
Breakfast was good at the hotel. We got the buffet and loved the various food that was presented in two rows of tables. My favorite was the smoked cold shaved salmon/lox and the fresh fruit. My husband liked the scrambled eggs, sausages, and the assortment of breads.
We had an 11:30 reservation on a Saturday and when we walked in we were told they close at 12:00. We asked why they take an 11:30 reservation when they close at 12? When I looked on Opentable again, I saw you could even make a 12:00 reservation. They staff was so rude, we left and had a delightful brunch elsewhere. They obviously did not want to seat us and had somewhere else they needed to be. A DISGRACE!!!!
I love Chez Colette. The food is wonderfully French-inspired and the service is impeccable. The croissants are to die for. The coffee is served in a stainless stell press pot at your table. I've dined there many, many times, for business breakfasts as well as for social meals including lunch and dinner and it's always a pleasure. Never a disappointment, from start to finish.
We had Mothers Day brunch . Our reservation was for 12:30 and they were not ready to open. The service was awful. We had to ask for everything, drinks, flatware, to have plates removed after each course and when we asked for something it took a long time to get what we requested. The food was OK but for the price, one would think they would have someone serving us on the buffet line! Over all it was a disappointment and we will never go back!!
We reserved for a special Mother's Day Brunch. They gave us a time for 10:30 a.m. and when we arrived they said it didn't begin until noon, but we could still have breakfast in their other dining room. There was other parties that were disappointed as well. It took a long time to be served anything. We will not be going back.
Restaurant was supposed to be fully booked and they made us wait one hour when we tried to make a reservation... the dining room was empty, maybe 10% occupied. The brunch (buffet) was good but nothing out of this world and the staff rather friendly. Why the attitude?
We went for brunch. Food was excellent! Leave the kids at home though, not a thing for them to eat. Jazz band was nice but much too loud. Hard to have a conversation. We considered "tipping" them not to play since we were meeting people from out of town and were there to catch up. Service was good initially but hard to find a server if you needed something. And when she did appear she would ask one person at our large table if they needed anything and then disappear quickly. But the point is, the food? Outstanding!

I don't think you are doing your job.
You confirmed this reservation for me, but when we showed up for lunch
today we were told that Chez Colette serves only breakfast so we were seated in
the hotel's bar area. They said that this change has been in effect for
some time. We would not have gone to the Sofitel Hotel for lunch if we had
known it meant eating in their bar area and not in the separate dining room
restaurant. It was not what we had in mind. And I don't even know if I got the 100 points!

This was one of the worse restaurant I have been to. Great food but the service was horrible. They were rude and right away when they found out we were in our 20s they judged us and slacked off very poorly. I was very upset with how this dinner turned out to be.
We went for a special Christmas buffet. For the price, La Croix would have been a lot better choice with greater variety, more exquisite dishes and much better ambiance. There was no music playing, and by now I expect that from a restaurant. The service was quite terrible from an awkward server reluctant to pay attention to change plates and neglected to greet us for 8 minutes after the host notified him. He also charged tip in the check that's usually done for groups over 5 or 6 people.
I am extremely disappointed with Sofitel for allowing an establishment to operate in such way, unlike any of their other locations I go to whenever I'm traveling on business.
