Among all Rittenhouse afternoon tea places, this is the worst. We have been waited for over 40 mins for our appetizer to be serviced. Guests who came way after us has been serviced earlier.
First of all. It's held in the liberté lounge not Chez Collette. Service was good until more than 5 people showed up. Bar was hopping but tables not so much. Food was ok. Hit and miss.
Afternoon tea - traditional tea and excellent service!
It was our second time and as expected we were never dissappointed. Will come back again.
Fantastic as always. Joann, Zoe, and Klodjana are all ACES!
The server was subpar for restaurant like this. He seemed either very new (in which case, I felt like he should have been shadowing or shadowed) or he was just not very good at this. We went for tea. Tea service (cakes, etc) came out before the tea. No cream/sugar was offered. When he showed us the tea menu (a box like thing) he told one of our party that he showed us the wrong one - ran away with it then came back and tried to tell her what she could have from it... So odd. The champagne drinks were either the dregs from the bottom or just not mixed properly. The cakes and sandwiches were delicious. They let us sit and chat for far longer than most restaurants would have. There was no rush. This place is very nice. It was a Groupon deal for the tea for 4. I got it last year as well. It WAS nice. But I was truly disappointed in the server that seemed confused and a bit all over.
The food wasn't as good as the previous years and the drinks were kind of dilute/thin is taste.
Afternoon tea was amazing as usual. Afternoon with friends - we come here at least once a year
I took my daughter to tea. It was a very nice afternoon. Good selection of teas, delectable tea accompaniments and a nice glass of champagne. I would definitely go again.
I have been here several times for afternoon tea. I came on MLK day because I had the day off. Of all my experiences, this was probably the worst. We were seated right away, but it took a half hour before someone checked in on us. Another 10-5 minutes before we were asked if we wanted champagne. Our tea orders came out at pretty much the same time as our tea tray. Then, our bill was wrong, which took another 10-15 minutes to correct.
This is a shame, because I have had lovely experiences here before at afternoon tea. The food and tea were served on Monday was delicious, but I felt like the servings were smaller. Or maybe I was just really hungry after having to wait so long for everything!
Tea with a friend was wonderful. The food was terrific and Miguel, our server, was prompt, personable and funny. It was a great time!
We had a lovely waiter. He was very personable and efficient
Second time doing the Tea Service with my kids. Making it a Xmas tradition. We had fun as usual. The tea was excellent and the finger sandwiches and scones and desserts were delicious although I don't think they provide enough for 4 people. Wanted to order from the menu but although requested one was not provided. Will come back again; enjoyed the champagne!
Our all girls gathering for the holiday at the Sofitel was more than we could have hoped. There are few places that serve high tea in the city anymore so this find was a gem. A wonderful selection of flavored teas and not the ordinary fare. The tea sandwiches were hearty enough for lunch. We have decided we will continue this experience until and unless Sofitel retires this excellent offering.
The afternoon high tea was not at all like others have experience. Food was very poor quality and not much was given. They brought a tree out with all the items on it before the tea even arrived
Our sever Miguel was great. The champagne was a French Brut and was very good. The restaurant is at street level therefore there isn’t a great view but the room is comfortable and decorated with French related prints. Overall a very pleasant afternoon in Philadelphia.
I took my aunt, daughter and 9 year old cousin for tea and the tea was lovely but the food that served was not very good. The food wasn’t very good and since we didn’t have the option to chose the kids didn’t eat anything. Very pricey for what was served (138 for 4 people for 4 teas and one three tier platter of picky items)
Great food, great service. A little pricey but great for a special occasion!
What an amazing experience Chez Colette was! The staff was unbelievable, going above and beyond our expectations. Our server Jo Ann was so attentive and clearly knew how to take care of her customers. The food was absolutely delicious! I am a vegetarian and they had plenty of options to ensure I got my money’s worth. What a wonderful way to spend Thanksgiving, I will surely be back!
The server, miguel and the manager, Chris were both professional and accommodating. Very nice. Went for afternoon tea. Will definitely go back
Server was not so attentive but other staff picked up the slack
A disappointing Mother's Day Brunch. We had pleasant expectations, when we were told about the open bar for Bloody Marys and mimosas. Then, it was downhill. The buffet table was far from plentiful, although there was shrimp. There were comparatively few salads and vegetables. The roast beef looked strange. The dessert collection was unglamorous and sparse. While the service personnel were pleasant and nice, recycling the forks onto the bread and butter plate should be a no-no.
Took my mom here for Mother’s Day brunch. The service was great (shout out to Esther, who was attentive/pleasant/funny), the food was good ( the braised short ribs and scallion mashed potatoes didn’t disappoint), and the dining space was very nice.
I took my family for a pre brunch Mother’s Day breakfast and was very happy with the outstanding service, delicious food and overall value. I would go back for sure!
since gratuity is already included it would have been nice to have someone come to the table more than once. i know it's a buffet, but i wanted coffee and i had to ask the hostess for the check. that being said, we love it, and will absolutely be back
Easter brunch was all that could be asked for...great food, excellent service, and a beautiful venue. A wonderful experience!
Awful experience, terrible waitress. My friend and I were seated at 9:45 am and left the restaurant at 11:45am. We waited, waited, and then waited some more for food and beverages which took forever to come. I should point out that most other patrons were eating the breakfast buffet, so there was no reason for slow service from the kitchen. The restaurant was about 3/4 full during our time there. We had no idea what was taking so long. As the time passed, and as we waited for our food, the place had less and less patrons. By the time we walked out the door, there was only one table left. It was outrageous! The waitress was outrageously incompetent and spoke at the top of her lungs. I will never step foot in that place again. And to add insult to injury, the prices were ridiculous ($56 for breakfast for two). The only reason we stayed was because everywhere else was solidly booked. It was Christmas Eve.
Our group of six was so excited to celebrate Mother's Day together at this restaurant. But we all left feeling that the experience was average at best and since I chose the restaurant, I felt terrible for disappointing the mothers in the group.
Our waiter seemed harried at every interaction. The buffet, while substantial, was very much a lunch buffet and included no breakfast items at the noon seating. In general, we all found the food to be somewhat bland. Bread was in loaves and required every customer to handle the bread in order to cut off slices or pieces without being wrapped in napkins. So everyone in the restaurant was handling the bread - this doesn't seem consistent with good health code practices. Bloody Marys looked watery when served without garnish while those at other tables had fun, robust garnishes. Mimosas were served with dramatically different levels of fullness. All of this is indicative of the indifferent service from our harried waiter.
We won't be back and hopefully others can avoid our mistake.
We went with my wife and 2 kids for Easter brunch. Fantastic experience with a great buffet including a raw bar and a prime rib carving station. Very nice atmosphere and overall excellent service attentive, friendly and caring for my 2 boys. Will definitely go back
Perfect for Easter brunch. Very pleasant experience, good food, friendly, professional service and lovely ambience.
We had a party of six for Easter brunch and everyone loved the food and that we could eat at a leisurely pace. The only drawback was the lack of vegetarian options for one of the guests. I guess we could have asked for something else. I was surprised there were no egg dishes or even a quiche.
Perfect breakfast spot before the Eagles parade!
Best Thanksgiving cuisine in a real long time!! Food was incredible!!! A new family tradition.
My family went for Sunday brunch after a fund raising walk on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. We all had the buffet. It was a great value for 23 dollars per person. The eggs , bacon and sausage were all well prepared and delicious. Additionally, there was fresh fruit and very tasty pastries such as croissants and Danish. We were all very pleased and will return.
The service was slow and it was early and not crowded. Food was just okay; kind of disappointed. Had to take our check up because we waited so long to pay
I was expecting a grander buffet from a Sotifel, a brand I have positive associations with. The buffet was, though, a limited, predictable selection, and a lot it was looking tired -- mounds of French toast piled in a covered tray that looked like it had been there a while by the time we arrived; some tomato thing that looked half-uncooked. I bagged the buffet idea and ordered off the menu. We ordered salmon eggs benedict, and it just wasn't very good. The pancakes were pretty good. The coffee, I will say, was very good, but apart from that it was just shabby -- closer to what I'd expect at a cheaper chain hotel than a Sofitel restaurant named Chez Colette. The sparse crowd on a Sunday at 11 -- when it's hard to get in elsewhere -- should be a clue to management that it's time for some improvements.
Took several minutes to be seated let alone acknowledged-- and quite a while until our breakfast was served. Another couple who arrived and was standing in line behind us left after they were seated and didn't receive any service or acknowledgement for 10-15 minutes. Fresh squeezed OJ was a treat and delicious. Enjoyed blueberry preserves, chocolate croissant and raisin cinnamon pastry.
Service was great!
