Chez Catherine is superb dining. We each had the filet and it was perfectly cooked. The only issue we had was the service. Service staff were very friendly and helpful when they were with you. We were the first to arrive for the 8 pm seating and the last of that group to be waited on and served so the service was kind of random. There were only two of us. Staff kept walking by but we felt slightly ignored. Took awhile to be asked if we wanted a drink, etc. I guess I would not go back on a Saturday night . We never had this issue before so I will attribute it to the fact that every table was booked and full.
This restaurant continues to improve with every visit. And it is already the most outstanding dining experience in the area, perhaps in the State. Stephan has grown as a host and proprietor, contuing the tradition of Catherine and Didier, who preceded him. Dining here is a very special experience.
Lovely experience. Delisious food. Cozy atmosphere. Definitley would return dinner.
We were delighted to see the changes in the restaurant. It is brighter and more modern. The owner and staff are very friendly. They welcomed everyone warmly. The appetizers were delicious. I loved the salad. My husband enjoyed the escargots. Dessert was to die for. However, our main courses were good, but not great. My husband had the duck and said it was a little too chewy. My cassoulet was very nicely seasoned, but lacked continuity. The fish was tasty, the sauce too thin. And whatever vegetables were in it were not cooked enough.
Having said all that - the good overweighs the not so good. We would go back in a flash to enjoy other choices.
Disappointing. Not much to do with French food... The staff spoke French but that is about it. In summary, French food price for amateur cooking.
It was our first time dining at Chez Catherine and it was Valentine's Day. We were seated in the basement in a very brightly lit "wine cellar" room. For Valentine's Day, it would have been nice to dim the lights. Only one choice was offered on the prix fix menu for entree. It was Short Ribs. Since Valentine's Day was on Ash Wednesday, a fast day, it would have been nice to have a non-meat entree.
In any case, the food and service were excellent. I'd like to come back when there was a full menu rather than the extremely limited prix fix Valentine's Day menu.
Valentines dinner. Staff excellent
Food quality. Should have offered his choice or vegan ‘ only beef
Food quality ! Ok. Your forced to order something you may not like
Dinner many fancy restaurants. Food average.
The food was magnifique and the service was friendly and professional. Very much enjoyed our experience.
Very good, near excellent experience. The food was very good, the fennel in the cassoulet was tough and difficult to cut with the knife provided.
Great Service! Excellent French food - I am looking forward to going back.
The service was impeccable as was the food. We were there celebrating 3 birthdays and my son was taking the ACT next day. They were so nice and wrote Happy Birthday on our desserts as well as "Good Luck on the ACT" on my son's dish. How thoughtful. My son really enjoyed himself and they made the night very special. The owner came by several times to check how things were and she was extremely friendly. The whole entire staff was friendly and engaging and the food was spectacular I highly recommend Chez Catherine if you want a truly special dining experience.
Welcoming and easy. Mussels were tender, pate was excellent. Dover sole was perfect. Staff was attentive and pleasant.
Had a delightful lunch with a good friend. The service is wonderful and the food is amazing. My friend enjoyed a red pepper soup and the monkfish and I had a salad with scallops. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The bread pudding is served warm with homemade ice cream. Can't wait to go back!
Wonderful restaurant but pricey for the a la carte menu we had for lunch. If we had it to do again we would have chosen from the business lunch menu.
Delightful authentic French cuisine and service, exceptional service
The restaurant is located in a Best Western Hotel with a separate entrance, but don’t let that stop you. The food was delicious -authentically French. The service was friendly and prompt. The decor is lovely -quaint old world French. The bread was the best I’ve ever eaten in a restaurant. The desserts were fantastic and the mussels were very very good.
One of the best dining experiences in a long time. Never felt rushed. Very attentive staff very professional. Wish they had a no cell phone policy for the idiots that feel like they are the only ones who can be on their phone.
What a remarkable restaurant! This is my second visit and certainly won’t be my last. Everything was prepared perfectly. Service was well timed. My only semi-negative is that the food is so rich, I find it hard to make it through the 3-course prix-fixe. Believe me, I’m not sure that’s a negative! Food prices are more than reasonable. Drink prices are extremely high, so be prepared for that. Cocktails are impeccably prepared.
Good french restaurant. Overpriced, wait staff ate owners. Table side service for diver sole silly. Bar drinks, well stocked, ridiculously over priced.
Incredible food & drinks and incredible service. The staff treat you like a friend. Only comment is that the decor is a little uninspiring .
