The owner, Stephane Bocket was born in Dunkerque, France. Stephane was the Maitre d'Hotel for 12 years before purchasing Chez Catherine in 2016. His career spans many years at Alain Ducasse's restaurants in NYC and France and before that in a number of other restaurants throughout France.
The Chef de Cuisine is Christine Migton. Christine graduated from the Culinary Institute of America. Her dishes revisit traditional French cuisine but use different flavors and tastes. She works to provide lighter and healthier ingredients wherever possible while maintaining that special French touch.
Food was extraordinary, interesting cocktails and fabulous wine list. The service was a bit slow as there was only one waiter for the room who was also the Host at the door. This was a small inconvenience as the overall meal was spectacular. Will definitely go there again. Prices were high but for a special occasion well worth it.

It was such a wonderful experience. Me and my boyfriend had an amazing dinner there. We had the best foie gras. Foe Entree we ordered the steak and duck leg. We plan to visit again for our anniversary！

This is a place that I have heard such good things about for years. We finally decided to try it and we were trilled by the meal. Everything was delicious , the pace was perfect and two words: Dover Sole. Really a treat. And the icing on the cake for me ( not literally ) was the cheese course for dessert. They served on if my favorites of all time, Epoisse. We will definitely be making a return trip.

This long time French mainstay in Westfield has been revitalized by Chef Chris Migton. The cooking is not elaborate but tasteful and right to the point. Everything is perfectly prepared. In past years I felt that non-regulars got lesser treatment, but that is no longer the case. And a calm noise level makes conversation easy.
I would recommend the food , the atmosphere and the service. I still believe though that the fix price menu is too expensive.
I found both the food and the service to be excellent. I believe I will be coming back soon.
We had a lovely evening, food was good but not overall impressive. We both thought it was overpriced, our dinner was good, ambience was lovely, quiet, and service was good but slow.
Food was absolutely terrific,as was the waiter he was such a gentleman. My only complaint would be the mirror on the wall. It's kinda weird because the reflection angle makes you stare at a stranger while you eat. But all in all the food was sooo good.
Hubby and I dined at Chez Catherine to celebrate Valentines Day. The restaurant was full, but there are only 9 tables so that would be expected. The meal we enjoyed was amazing. I had the Dover Sole cooked table side and have to say it’s one of the best dishes I ever had! Hubby said the same about his onion soup and his apple dessert. Definitely recommend!
This is the place to go for a special occasion. The food was outstanding as was the bottle of wine. The service was exceptional and conversation is easy as it is very quiet.
Their $28 2 course lunch is the best value in NJ or NYC!
It’s simply outstanding. I cannot think of a better service than this. Food has been always fantastic as this is one of many times that I have visited this restaurant. It is simply exclusive dining experience.
My friend and I have dinner at Chez Catherine every January between our two birthdays. This year it was very crowded (Friday at 7:30 PM) and the service was not at it's usual high standard. We had to wait quite a while after we had our menus for someone to take our order. Perhaps they were short on staff.

our 3rd time at this place, over several years and two different owners, but it's been always good for a little French cuisine - the only "miss" this time was that dover sole was out on us.

Food was spectacular - especially the foie grad, duck, and chocolate mousse! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Expensive but worth it!

This was our first time here and we weren’t disappointed. It’s a small restaurant, very intimate. Our waiter was very nice and funny. The escargot was perfect as was my duck breast. My wife’s scallops were delicious.
Charming little restaurant but a bit pricey. Being small, conversations from various loud tables interferes with enjoyment of the (expensive) meal.
This venerable French upscale spot in Westfield has been revitalized by new chef Christine Migton. Our meal was superb beginning to end. The decor is warm and inviting, and the old slightly snobbish vibe is gone. The only flaw was that the coffee I ordered was never served.

This was our first visit and after reading all the great reviews we were expecting a great dining experience for our anniversary. Well our visit actually exceeded our expectations! Truly exceptional service and attentiveness by the staff coupled with food that was exceptional. My wife commented that the scallop dish she had was one of the best meals she has ever had. We dine out frequently so that is quite a compliment. We now know why this restaurant has been rated as one of the best in the state for many years. We will certainly be back.
