Chesapeake Inn Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Strawberry blonde cocktail was too sweet. Orange crush cocktail was delicious. Calamari was good and came out hot. Wife enjoyed the oysters but $3 per seemed high. Crab cakes were fantastic. Filet was ok and will try fish next time. Great view of the river.
The service was good (especially on Valentine's Day). One thing is that we had to ask for bread and felt sort of rushed.
I was disappointed in my meal. I ordered the penne pasta with crab, shrimp and scallops. I had it on New Year's Eve and it was absolutely delicious. Whoever made it on V-day went a tad crazy with red pepper. It was not that spicy and was more of a blush sauce.
My husband ordered the stuffed oyster shells appetizer was very skimpy and the jumbo shrimp was large at best. He ordered sushi also. Needless to say, he was hungry when we left. Our guest ordered salmon which was grilled and dry. Her replacement was raw inside. They took the salmon off of our ticket, and gave us a coupon for another visit.
THe Service was wonderful. The shrimp special was outstanding and creative, with the greens and black-eyed pea cake adding extra flare. The atmosphere is awesome. We went from dining to comedy show to dance floor and back to patio bar and had such a wonderful date night. Then walked back to our B&B!
A $34 filet mignon should not have an ounce of fat on it or be tough to cut. For $3 side dishes the Au Gratin potatoes were very dry as well as the Mac n cheese. Pork chop was very fatty. $86 meal turned into us feeling like we would’ve rather have eaten at a fast food joint. Very disappointed. Service was decent. However Server smelled of cigarettes and had no details on the list of specials she went over so I had no idea what she was talking about until I was eavesdropping and heard the male server next to us explaining everything I’m fine detail to the couple beside us.
This was our second visit to the Chesapeake Inn. The first time, we came for dinner before we went downstairs to the deck to see a band play (on a Saturday night). We didn't order any appetizers and it took 45 minutes for our food to come, but everything was delicious. This second visit was a date night for us, and we were looking forward to having a quiet dinner on a weeknight and revisit the menu we enjoyed the first time. The service was excellent; our server was attentive and friendly. Although the appetizers looked great, neither of us are big eaters and opted for crab bisque and Caesar salad. The crab bisque was creamy and delicately delicious. The Caesar salad was also good. My husband ordered the Penne, with wild gulf shrimp, crabmeat, and scallops which was excellent. I ordered the Eastern Shore Chicken, also very good, but it seemed a bit heavy on the salt. I love the location in quaint little Chesapeake City, an historical little town with well-cared for homes lining the streets that took us to the restaurant right on the bay. If you're lucky enough to sit by the windows, the view is lovely. The deck in the summer is just as lovely - and we're looking forward to eating out there in the future.
Despite making a last minute reservation, the Chesapeake Inn delivered. They called as soon as they received the reservation to explain that the restaurant had a busy night ahead of them and worked with me to understand how they could best accomdate my request.
My brother and his wife, who were visiting from Colorado, were treated to a beautiful water front view and outstanding service from our server Elaine. She timed our meals perfectly. Everything was cooked the way we requested.
Five of us had a very pleasant birthday lunch here for my wife. Everyone enjoyed their meal - a crabcake sandwich, a club sandwich, vegan platter, a wrap and sturgeon Sicilian style; three crab bisque's and an onion soup. Outstanding coffee (and I'm a home roaster, so used to good coffee). Service was attentive without being intrusive. It was a quiet Tuesday, so no problems with noise or crowds.
