Cheng Du is a fine Asian dining experience in Westborough, Massachusetts, that offers lunch, dinner and a full sake bar to guests who want an upscale version of their favorite Asian dishes. Start with sushi or an appetizer like Cheng DuÕs famous steamed pork dumplings, before diving in to the extensive menu of meat and vegetarian meals.
Whether you want a light lunch, such as the bento box service or the crispy Peking noodles, or a filling meal such as the moo-shi shrimp and pan seared sea scallops, there is something for everyone on the Cheng Du menu. Be sure to sample a sake drink before you leave, as the bar carries some of the best in the world.
My two girlfriends and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Cheng Du, our first time there. Food was great, good value. Ambience was VERY quiet, which was great although we were probably the loudest people in the place. Our server did hover a bit more than we would have liked, but she was attentive and friendly - no complaints!
We made a last minute Saturday night reservation to Cheng Du, and when we arrived at the restaurant 15 minutes later, the manager told us that the reservation had mistakenly gone through. There were NO tables available, and there was a 1.5 hour wait for a table. But the manager was amazingly professional and clearly cared about making Open Table's mistake right, and had us seated less than 20 minutes later - and then proceeded to take our order and serve us herself!
The food was excellent, a step up from usual Asian fare - clearly not your average "Chinese take-out" joint. We got both sushi and items off traditional Chinese food menu - both very good. The kids enjoyed their meals, also - beef teriyaki and noodles, chicken and rice.
Nice choice between Chinese on one side or Japanese on the other side. You can order either one or both from anywhere.
Service was a bit slow and several dished were far too cold when they finally arrived. The Japanese skewers were a great buy and delicious.
This was a special event for my mom's 60th bday. The restaurants owner kept checking in on us making sure the servers were getting food out fast enough (which they were) The ambiance is amazing the place is completely renovated and beautiful. the perfect spot for a date night! oh and the food especially the shrimp tempura is fo fresh very light and taste wonderful!
I made a reservation at Cheng Du for 8/30 in celebration of my boyfriend's 35th b-day. I hadn't dined at Cheng Du in yrs & wasn't sure what to expect.
Our experience there surpassed our expectations! We had a wonderful time, the food was amazing & the service excellent! We will definitely be going there again!
Best lunch special in the area. Can't beat it. $8.95. Pick 1 app, 2 Entrée, and 1 rice or lo mien dish, and soup. Food is made to order rather than from a pot of premade offerings. Eat lunch there at least once a month.
My eleven year old son asked if we could go to Cheng Du after catching a movie together. I had low expectations but was pleasantly surprised from the moment we walked in the front door. We were greeted by welcoming smiles and an earnest appreciation that we had chosen Cheng Du to have dinner. Atmosphere was stylish, comfortable without feeling you were having dinner with the table next to you. Food was excellent, reasonably priced and service was brilliant.
Great experience that I would recommend to anyone.
Great food and great service. We will be back.
Worth the trip. Food was excellent, atmosphere elegant and relaxing, staff was courteous and gracious. A new favorite!
Lemon chicken, beef hunan, were most delicious, cannot comment on the other 7 dishes served, as the rest of the group of nine were not willing to share, but there were happy, smiling faces all around.
I recently heard about the newly remodeled Cheng Du Restaurant while listening to the Jordan Levy Show.
So, I decided to take the ride out to Westborough for by Birthday.
My wife and I arrived around 4:00 PM and asked if we could be seated in the Akamon Restaurant.
We ordered a Blue Hawaiian drink (very well prepared).
We also ordered the Chef's Choice of the Grill Special (eight skewers for $25). The Mixed Vegetable Skewer and the Scallops wrapped in Bacon were my favorite. The dinner included Soup or Salad.
I highly recommend Cheng Du for a new take on grilling!
We are regular customers at Cheng Du's. We love the food and try to order a different dish (in addition to some favorites) every time we dine there. It is our favorite Chinese restaurant! My husband won't try anywhere else.! Everyone is friendly and the service is spot on!
Cheng Du serves by far the best asian cuisine you will have in a great "newly renovated" environment.
Have been coming here for take -out or dine in for over 15 years and the food is always spectacular.
Food was delicious!Service was terrible. We had a very large party, that may have been the reason, but they knew we were coming and should have assigned more that one server to our table.
Cheng Du never disappoints. My family and I have been frequenting for over 10 years, whether it be take-out or dining and a cocktail. The food is always fresh and flavorful and haven't compared others of the years we now know that their is no place with better Asian cuisine, we have stopped our search.
We have been to this restaurant several times. The food is consistent and the service is good. The mai tai's are very good. The restaurant is divided into many small rooms which makes it cozy.
I made my reservation through the open table link on Cheng Du's site and recieved an email confirmation. When I called the reservation to change the time, I was told by the manager that they had no record of the reservation. Since it was going to be an hour wait with three hungry kids, I chose to go elsewhere. I won't trust this site again - if I hadn't called and drove 45 minutes and had to wait an hour, I probably wouldn't ever be back!
Had an extremely enjoyable meal that included spicy cumin lamb, Chilean bass with ginger sauce, hokuhoku (grilled garlic skewers), chicken lettuce wraps, and hot and sour soup. All of the dishes were well prepared and extremely flavorful. It's clear that the chef here understands that Asian cuisine doesn't always need to be slathered with thick sauces - and we appreciated it. We were looking for a more gourmet-quality Asian food experience and Cheng Du delivered.
Also, had a great bottle of French wine that was a perfect complement to the meal.
Service was very attentive and friendly.
Service was incredibly slow, and on a Thursday evening (not busy.)
Wine list is outrageous as well- HUGELY overpriced. Maybe one or two bottles under $50, many over $100 and even several over $300. Doesn't at all fit the rest of the menu.
The renovation has transformed this restaurant into a beautiful upscale dining Asian restaurant.
The wine list is impressive. The service top notch.
It is so much more refined and sophisticated than its rival across Rt. 9 ...Mandarin . The food is fantastic. We loved the Sea bass.
I was there with my husband last Friday, we both had a great time. This was our first time after the big renovations. We have been at this restaurant several times in the past 15 years or so.We always loved their food and their service, but couple of years ago we had gone for a dinner and everything tasted different maybe there was a new chef or something,as a result of this we stopped going there. We had been driving to Natick for a good chinese cuisine.Needless to say our last dining experience changed everything,We will be going there more often.Thank you
Food was great....service excellent! Owner offered wonderful suggestions on trying new items. Will definitely go back!
