Chelsea's Chowder House
Good food, 2 hours for dinner and appetizer. Fish doesnt take that look to cook.
Food was amazing and would recommend!!! Exceeded my expectations. Lovely decor and nice view, too.
How are you out of “famous Chelsea chowder house bread” 2 hours after you open? Why would you plate slaw on a piping hot plate? Why would you serve a medium burger almost blue? And why would you bring soda glasses back to the drink station to refill and return the same glasses?
Overall good experience. My husband thought hamburger tasted not grilled but pan cooked which he doesn't prefer. I had roast beef Ruben, not my favorite for a Rueben.
Ambiance tristoune comme le reste de l’interieur du bateau, éclairage lugubre, nous avons mangé un hamburger très bon, le verre de vin a 14$ aussi. Ce n’est pas incontournable.
The view from our table was divine and the Queen Mary provided the setting for a long overdue reunion with my niece. We enjoyed our visit very much!
Every thing was great!
It was expensive for the quality with a very limited menu. The service was good though. The checked regularly to see if we needed anything and to fill our water glasses.
For our family dinner I chose this restaurant first time on the Queen Mary, seated right away, portion sizes Large we ordered crab cakes and I was full when y dinner came. Great view of Long Beach. Needs better lighting in the parking lot was a challenge getting out. Will visit again.
Atmosphere was great. Service was great. A bit pricey for what you get and not the biggest selection, but you are on the Queen Mary afterall! Overall it was nice.
The ambiance is neat because you are on the Queen Mary and the view over Long Beach was amazing at sunset. The temperature of the room was very cold. The food was well priced; the lobster roll was good but the clam chowder was mediocre at best (too bland and full of huge potato chunks). It was a disappointing meal for all the great reviews I had read.
Quite cold in restaurant. The service of the waiter was very nonchalant, ignoring attempts of help or conversing of menu. However the bus boys were exceptional in their attentiveness and help, being more like a waiter.
The food is Extremely Overpriced for the quality. The $26. Lobster roll was cold lobster salad with no flavor and was on a stale hard french roll on a plate all by itself. Nothing else on plate. It did come with a small bowl of clam chowder But had to pay extra for bread rolls.
All in all a Very Expensive dinner and NOT A GREAT Experience.
Unfortunately for Chelsea's, my review is based on expectations. Admittedly, it has been several years since our last time at Chelsea's. It being Valentine's Day weekend, I had expected more, but instead we got the Queen Mary in ScottsFestival mode. Instead of their regular menu, Chelsea's was serving an abridged special menu for ScottsFest. Probably a poor decision for Valentine's weekend, as the abridged menu offered none of the better high-end seafood dishes off their regular menu or even a shrimp or prawns cocktail, but instead offered Bangers and Mash and Chicken Pot Pie. Additionally, we could not even order their bread, as they did not make enough to last through the dinner service, since they had to be open for additional hours for the festival. The quality of the food was just ok, and priced about twice as much as it should have been for each item. Also, because of the festival, romantic ambiance was not even a possibility. I wish there had been some mention of the menu changes and the festival changes on the website, or on Open Table; but there was no indication anywhere. I would have gone somewhere else. The experience was not worth the cost, and it certainly was not the best choice for Valentine's weekend.
We had dinner while staying at the Queen Mary Hotel. The view was great, service was excellent, and food was fabulous. Would definitely dine here again if in the area.
Was our first time at Chelsea's Chowder House. Had a GREAT time! We had friends visiting from out of state, and they loved it too! Was unique it being on the Queen Mary. Made it special for us because that's how we met...on a cruise a few years back, and kept in touch. Food and service were exceptional. The only thing was that corkage fee at $35 per bottle was very steep. Still had a fabulous time though. Totally recommend it.
We had a wonderful meal on the Queen Mary! The meal was great, cooked to perfection and the setting was perfect!
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Service is great and the ambiance is nice but food is way overpriced for what you get. The food is good both nothing great. And for what you pay, I’d expect a lot more. The restaurant seemed updated but the rest of the ship needs a renovation.
Great food and service . Will go again when there.
Our server was amazing and very attentive, definitely will be going back. Thank you so much.
Chelsea's location aboard the Queen Mary cruise ship is outstanding with lovely city lights views of the downtown Long Beach over the water. The food is excellent, though the menu is a bit limited. I have eaten at Chelsea's twice. The first time we ate here the service was outstanding, this most recent time the service was fair at best. Hopefully the next time we return we will enjoy the same great service as our first outing.
We had prime rib which was tough... we could have used steak knives. The creme brûlée was really a chocolate tart. The windows leaked so we were cold all through dinner. Over priced and under par. Wish we’d gone elsewhere.
Chelsea’s has become our new Christmas tradition. This was our fourth year for Christmas dinner.
Looking forward to year five
Very pricey and the quality of the meal doesn't match the price. Disappointing.
We ate dinner at Chelsea's Chowder House while visiting the Queen Mary for their Holiday events. The food was outstanding. My grown children had burgers, and my husband and I had the clam chowder. Our server was very attentive but allowed us plenty of time to stay and enjoy visiting. I believe his name was Juan. We will be going back!
Very Pricey for Turkey dinner, (It's the Queen Mary after all)! ... It was very loud, too many little kids or babies yelling or crying. Not good for a nice romantic 'birthday/Thanksgiving dinner. Thought they would be at home having a 'Family' Thanksgiving dinner. Lesson learned!
My wife and I decided to visit the Queen Mary kind of spare of the moment since it was close to the hotel we were staying at. We had a fun evening that included dinner at Chelsea’s Chowder House and the 2 hour Paranormal Tour. We had the wedge salad, fried avocado and crab cakes and a couple drinks. The food and service was excellent!
The food is pretty pricey but overall it had a great taste. About 80 for two soups and some bread
The long island tea was not very well served
The waiters took a while to tend to us and it was not that busy
Angel was our waiter. He was exceptional. He was kind and informative with the menu. The service was fast. The food was some of the best I have had. We ordered the bacon wrapped scallops with chorizo and corn chutney. (Ugh, yum). Also, we ordered the lobster roll and clam chowder. Not only was this the best deal on the menu for all of the lobster you got, but the clam chowder stood alone. Putting the oyster crackers in it would have been a travesty. We liked it so much we met the chef!
The food was really good. I had a simple dinner, but it was still great. The waiter was nice and helpful too.
Great food and great service! Would definitely recommend!
We really enjoyed the two times we dined here during our stay aboard the Queen Mary. We were time constrained the first night and they were able to help us and change reservation time with no problem. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Food was delicious and displayed well.
Food was overpriced & average. And the service was worse.
No points given. Not happy with the service, lukewarm soup, hawaiian bread found in a grocery store.
Overrated. The bread shouldn’t be the best thing about a meal. I’ve had better shrimp at food stands.
The setting had a Nice atmosphere. Dinner menu was good but stemmed a little pricey. Server was good but a little slow and seemed exhausted. View was outstanding.
It was terrible service, asian lady took forever just to give us a cocktail shrimp, and oyster! I understand if have to cook them but not! She just show off once, never ask if we’re ok, but also one mexican boy (bussboy) he was incredible so kind at least!
Great for a special occasion. The menu doesn't offer a huge range but the location is fantastic
A pleasant experience. Food was well prepared and very tasty. Cost on the high side.
Food is all ala cart... So burger is just a burger. The fries are good... But on the side. And the rest of the food was fair. Not great.
