We reserved for dinner before a show at The Grand. We were seated promptly and were offered the option to sit downstairs in the wine cellar. Three other couples eventually were seated and we had great conversation as we were all going to the show. It's quieter downstairs than in the main dining room and you can actually hear what others are saying. The service was very good and the Asian Salad and Rueben were excellent. Great venue for pre-show dining.

Great food, so convenient to have dinner before seeing a show directly across the street. Will definitely dine at again and again.

Would not recommend crab panini-- crab was basically mush and bread very hard. Sandwich actually had no flavor. But Caesar salad and raspberry cheesecake were very good.
I have had many excellent meals here before so I believe this sandwich is just not a good item for the menu. Not the best place to go for conversation due to high noise level when they are at full capacity, but extremely convenient for pre-show meal.

When the main course came out, both my husband's and my meals were not hot. The server took the food back to the kitchen. When the dishes returned, my shrimp was hot but not the risotto under it. My husband's food was hot. I give credit to the Chelsea Tavern for taking 20% off of the total bill because of this issue.

Good beer selection and very attentive service. Our group order a variety from Reuben, to steak to scallops and salmon. Everyone seemed please with their food across a good variety. Perhaps a little surprising for.pub food.

The Pastrami Reuben was ok but very greasy. The Veggie Burger was tasty, but the oversized roll turned my wife off. Have had better meals there. Disappointed this time.

We were never there before and were very pleased by the atmosphere and the menu. My friend had such a smile on his face reviewing the beer menu! Our meals were wonderful. The duck was done perfect and his steak was awesome. Our server was so bubbly and personable. Can't wait to go back.

We had a terrific dinner at Chelsea Tavern this weekend! Warm and cozy, this place is has it all ... great food, extensive beer menu and wonderful service. Our server Stacy was excellent! She made great recommendations and helped us pick a fantastic craft beer to accompany our meal. Highly recommend Chelsea Tavern!!!

Brunch before a matinee of the theatre at Playhouse on Rodney Square. The shrimp and grits included a unique Sweet Thai Chili Sauce. The Chelsea Cheeseburger was cooked precisely. The staff was very attentive. Great value for a brunch.

This place is usually pretty good but missed the mark the past couple times. They seem to be short staffed and the waitress we had wasn’t very nice. She seemed extremely put off every time she got a new table. They have a great beer selection but were out of a lot of mixed drinks. This use to be our go to spot for date night but will definitely try somewhere else next time.
**UPDATE: The owner reached out and apologized for the service we received. I appreciate that and would give them another shot.

I have been to the Tavern several times, with the most recent 1 week before this last visit. The food is hit or miss. What my hug is and and I noticed, many dishes come out where they should not be served, but are. Example a week ago we ordered Cesar salad and a pizza to split. The salad was fresh, lettuce fluffy, very good. The pizza cam out with 1/4 of the crust very burnt. The waitress came over to check, we showed the pizza and she made a comment she thought it was too burnt and should not have served it. They made a new one. This past week, we ordered the prix fix dinner with Caesar salad, lamb chops and dessert. The Caesar salad looked like it had been sitting around for most of an hour and should not have been served. Our waitress was no where in sight. We reluctantly ate it, which was a mistake. I saw fresh salads come out a few minutes later. The table next to us ordered 2 pizzas. One had the same 1/4 of the crust extremely burnt. The patron cut off the corner and ate the rest. Our lamb chops were served and looked gorgeous. Unfortunately, they were cooked without any seasoning, no salt, pepper, thyme garlic, so the meat had no caramelized or seared crust, you must salt the meat to get that, and was bland. For the cost, there are other restaurants in the walking area where you have more room around your table, you can hear each other talk and all the plates come out service ready. From our experience, the tavern seems to serve great to subpar plates and only replace the subpar ones if there is a complaint.

We were seated downstairs in a bottle storage room. It was quiet, but cramped and cold. There wasn't any soft music so u could easily hear other conversations which was awkward. The server offered to put a heater on, which was behind my head on top of beer cases. The food was good, service was spotty, which could be because if our basement table

Definitely worth a visit - or more! We four went for dinner in the week and were extremely happy with all aspects of the evening. Initially, the parking was a problem and eventually m y husband found a space a couple of blocks away. Our reservation was for 7.30pm. We enjoyed Grilled Salmon with Artichokes, two different HUGE salads, one with lump crab meat, and the special Risotto of the day with Lobster. All were delicious and we voted, would order again. No room for dessert. The restaurant is lively and pleasant and around 8.30pm it was much calmer with many tables free. Our plan, next time, is to go at 8.30pm. Once the theater has begun.

Great place before or a show at The Grand Opera House, otherwise I would not go out of the way for it. Fast, pleasant service and surprisingly good food with a terrific selection of craft beers. Wine list is okay, but they are clearly about the beer.

Our server made the night. He was busy but didn't miss a thing and got us out in time on a busy night to make our show. Don't let the menu fool you. What you think will be typical bar food is several steps above. The buffalo wings with a homemade sauce much more complex than texas pete's and smooth rich homemade bleu cheese dressing on the side is somehing other places xan only aspire to. The corm bisque is thick and has a nice light bite that'll sneak up out of the sweetness. We'll be back soon.

Dining date was April 6 before a show at the Grand. We had a table of eight. The room was so noisy it was difficult to have a conversation with your nearest neighbor. The pacing of the meal was terrible -- there were long delays between courses and little attempt to serve couples simultaneously. My calamari appetizer was cold, as was my steak and frites entree. We allowed two hours for dinner but in the end had to skip dessert to get to our show on time. Disappointing.

We loved this place on our first visit. You will feel like a regular. They listened to special requests and made lovely suggestions. The duck was very good and we enjoyed the scallops.

We can't wait to recommend Chelsea Tavern to friends who are regulars at Wilmington theater events.
