We always dine at Chelsea Tavern before a show at the Grand or in this case The Queen. It’s in the perfect location for a pre-show dinner. We always manage to get on street parking. The service is always good and the food is great. Last night we had their outstanding soft pretzel appetizer and a cheeseburger and crab panini. Both sandwiches and their sides were perfectly prepared. I’d highly recommend The Chelsea!

I'd heard a lot about the restaurant but do not get to Wilmington often. After dining there, I thought the hype exceeded the actual experience. Service was good, food okay but the ambiance was not as quaint as I was expecting.

As always, the food at Chelsea Tavern was great, the service was outstanding and the the beer list is one of the best, if not the best, in the Wilmington area.

First time here even though I am from the general area. Group of five of us went to dinner and the food was incredible along with the service. I had the best dirty martini I ever had in my life. Fish was fresh, pizza was awesome along with pulled pork. The hummus and crab dip were excellent as appetizers. Will be sure to come back. Thank you for a special belated "fathers day dinner".

Father's Day Brunch. Restaurant is a run down. No easy access to bathrooms. Eggs were overcooked. Pancakes were also overcooked.

This was a reasonably pleasant dining experience, but nothing to write home about. It was conveniently located directly across from the theatre. The place was packed, so just a bit noisy, but terribly loud. The service was satisfactory, again, it was full up. While I would go here again with friends, it is not one of my top picks for downtown Wilmington.

Our server was very attentive. His name is Drew. The calamari was very rubbery, greasy and bland. Caesar salad was good but really over dressed. We had the crab panini, which was pretty good. I don’t know that I would go back.

An exceptional evening before event at the Grand. Food was great. Kaitlyn was professional and energetic. She added to the entire experience I have already recommended the Chelsea!

We came from out of town and were searching for a quick meal before going to the Grand Opera House. This was directly across the street, and we could not have been more pleased with the menu, the ambiance and service. They have an amazing beer list . The loaded brussel sprouts were out of this world.

Prompt & Friendly service. Nice ambiance for a special occasion. We had Sunday brunch as the selection was wonderful. Food was very good. We will definitely return.

We always enjoy Chelsea Tavern. This time we had a table that was at the entrance to the kitchen even though we had a reservation. Very noisy. Not energetic, noisy. One guest ordered a salad appetizer that came with the entrees. A cooked appetizer came before. Why?

A reminder of why we have been here so few times since the restaurant opened. The service is slow and inattentive; 10mins from seating to our drink order being taken, and then another 10mins to get 2 draft beers to the table. The food was surprisingly poor. We had the “large” Caesar salad which was certainly not entree size, and bland on top of that. The mushroom pizza was soggy with an undercooked crust, overloaded in cheese, and oily. We did hope something had changed from prior experiences, but unfortunately not. Off our list.

The food was ok, certainly a good value, and a varied enough menu for anyone. Our server was especially good, friendly, but not overly, attentive, but not overly. She never disappeared for too long. We ate in the wine cellar, which was very quiet.

Chelsea Tavern is our 'go to' place in Wilmington. The food is always great and their prix fix menus are always a bargain. They have an innovative menu with a wide range of choices. Service is always exceptional - attentive but not intrusive. The craft beer menu, both on tap and in bottles, is one of the best around.

They saved my Mother's day! I had forgotten my wallet and had to cancel my reservation, but the amazing staff (I want to say, Ken?) really went above and beyond and was able to find me a reservation. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly. Our waitress, Kaitlyn was great! I was debating between two meals and Kaitlyn suggested the Chelsea BLT. It was delicious and so huge! This is definitely going to be on my go to list!!

Food was good but service was less then spectacular. Difficulty getting beverages and my daughter never had her beverage order taken. We had to remind the waitress of order when it arrived since it was incomplete.

A great location (across the street from the theater) but noisy and crowded on theater night. We were seated near the bar area in the front - it was difficult to talk, and service was not great. The hostess did her best to make up for that by bringing us water after a 15 minute wait, then brought our drinks and took our meal order. Our waitress eventually caught up but forgot to bring a requested item (hot sauce) for our meal. Guessing it was just a matter of a very busy night. Chelsea offers over 250 beers and limited wine offerings. Menu was very good and food was tasty.

I had been to Chelsea Tavern for business lunches but went with my husband for dinner before a show. The service was very good and our waitress was friendly, provided good recommendations and was attentive. The food was really good and my husband, who doesn’t like to go beyond his 3 or 4 suburban restaurants, wants to go back because he enjoyed the entire experience.

We reserved for dinner before a show at The Grand. We were seated promptly and were offered the option to sit downstairs in the wine cellar. Three other couples eventually were seated and we had great conversation as we were all going to the show. It's quieter downstairs than in the main dining room and you can actually hear what others are saying. The service was very good and the Asian Salad and Rueben were excellent. Great venue for pre-show dining.

Would not recommend crab panini-- crab was basically mush and bread very hard. Sandwich actually had no flavor. But Caesar salad and raspberry cheesecake were very good.
I have had many excellent meals here before so I believe this sandwich is just not a good item for the menu. Not the best place to go for conversation due to high noise level when they are at full capacity, but extremely convenient for pre-show meal.

When the main course came out, both my husband's and my meals were not hot. The server took the food back to the kitchen. When the dishes returned, my shrimp was hot but not the risotto under it. My husband's food was hot. I give credit to the Chelsea Tavern for taking 20% off of the total bill because of this issue.

Good beer selection and very attentive service. Our group order a variety from Reuben, to steak to scallops and salmon. Everyone seemed please with their food across a good variety. Perhaps a little surprising for.pub food.

This place is usually pretty good but missed the mark the past couple times. They seem to be short staffed and the waitress we had wasn’t very nice. She seemed extremely put off every time she got a new table. They have a great beer selection but were out of a lot of mixed drinks. This use to be our go to spot for date night but will definitely try somewhere else next time.
**UPDATE: The owner reached out and apologized for the service we received. I appreciate that and would give them another shot.
