Chefs di Domani Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I went here for a date. We had not been to the restaurant for over a year. It was nice to see that they are still serving the same high-quality, delicious food with high-quality service.
Our reservation was recognized when we arrived. We started off with the arancino appetizer. This week's stuffing was beef short rib. (Short rib was also available as an entree). There were three on our plate. They were placed on top of a creamy white (yogurt-based?) sauce combined with drizzles of balsamic vinegar. Some sprouts were added on top for a pleasant looking garnish. The outside coating was crispy, the rice inside was al dente, and there was just enough short rib and carrot to give some bites a good chew.
I ordered the delmonico (boneless ribeye) steak. I asked for it to be cooked medium well. It came out what I would consider to be medium since it was pink all the way through but not bloody inside. However, I didn't send it back before my first bite was delicious. It was so large, though, that I took it home for two more meals. The steak was served with a generous amount of crispy, fried onions on top. They were tasty, but I don't care for fried onions very much. The fried onion lovers out there will probably find these to be some of the best that they have ever had. It also came with some creamy mashed potatoes and crisp, cooked asparagus.
My wife ordered the fried chicken and waffle. I tried a little bit of the waffle. It was delicious because they put real bacon bits in it.
They gave us a complimentary dessert because our special occasion. There was a flaky pastry with fluffing frosting and berries in between the layers, and there was a ball of chocolate mousse with a chocolate cookie crumb crust underneath. I enjoyed every bite of the chocolate mousse concoction.
This is the teaching restaurant for Platt College culinary arts school. As such, it is a bit sparsely on the decor and the menu is rather limited. However, the food is very good and well prepared. The portions are a bit large. Maybe some work portion management would be in order. Overall, I would recommend it for a nice evening out and it's also gratifying to know that you are assisting folks who are learning their profession. We will be going back
This was a wonderful experience for my birthday dinner. People don’t think to go here, so it is pretty quiet. The food is prepared thoughtfully and was cooked just right. My husband and I both had the ribeye which was cooked to perfection and was more than either of us could finish. It was accompanied by asparagus that was cooked to just the right doneness. They served an artisan butter with their soft rolls that was delicious too. We were too full for dessert, but will definitely be back to try it.
Chefs di Domani is a nice dining experience.
They have Arancino which vary weekly. Ours were crunchy and savory.
My wife had the Duck Breast. The sauce served with it was a little too sweet, but nice brussel sprouts accompanied it.
I had the Delmonico ribeye.
It was cooked perfectly, and served with delicious tobacco onion straws.
Was the food out-of-this-world?
But it was plentiful, very reasonably priced, and we had a nice time.
The service was bad because only 2 waiters on Fri night. We thought the food was excellent. My salmon could have been a little less cooked. My husbands Fried chicken was as good as a southern grandmas . Everything took a long time. Ordering , getting served , etc. We ordered a second glass of wine but had already finished our meal when we said to forget it. Our fault not to catch it but we were still charged and paid for the second glasses of wine. We want to try it again but hope they Staff it with more help.
We had a group of eleven people dining all together. We were started off with rolls, plus three types of butter. The butters were cinnamon, garlic, and regular. My favorite was the cinnamon butter. A group of us then shared some scallops as appetizers. I'd never eaten a scallop before (land-licked Oklahoman!), but I loved whatever was used to crust them. I personally had the Del Montico special, and my steak was cooked exactly as asked. I got a to-go box for half of my entree so I could have room for dessert. I chose triple-layered mousse, and it was delicious. One aspect of dining was that every dish set before us was beautifully plated. I'll be saving money to go back!
The food was wonderful. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. The only problem I had with Chefs Di Domani was the wine list. My friend drinks red wine and I drink white. There was no red wine at all and only 1 kind of white. I don't even know what to say about that. I have never been to a place with that kind of a problem.
The waiter was great. Loved the wine I had. King Fu Girl Resisling. Best mashed potatoes I've ever had. Steak Cooked correctly but terrible quality of meat and so greasy which should ever had been an issue. There was only one dessert option, which was bread pudding, something I do not like at all. Needed soft music playing. And there were guys washing the outside of the building with a power sprayer right where we were seated. Super loud and annoying.
We have been here 3 times. Normally the food is very good and the service is sketchy at best. Chefs in training do not make good waiters. This night we got an off bottle of wine that was awful and the waitress spilled a whole glass of red wine on my friend. All they comped was $15. His entire meal should have been comped. Service was extremely slow. We were there two hours. If you catch it on a good night it is a good value as the prices are reasonable and the food is usually very good. This night the short rib was way over cooked and dry. The salmon was also over cooked. It is a nice quiet atmosphere. We may give it one more chance.
We have eaten at this restaurant before and was impressed by the food and service. However, this time was different. We did not get the Open Table points because the person who seated us did not check us in...even though we specifically stated this was an Open Table res. The server was not very smart, knew nothing about the menu and when we asked about a special she brought over a pad that you would take orders on and said her it is written down "cause I aint gonna lie" I don't even know. She was more interested in standing at the booth next to us and visiting than taking care of any other diners. Other staff hung out at that table as well, carrying on a conversation and ignoring everyone else dining. At one point, I saw a lady across the room stand and wave her napkin in the air trying to get someone's attention. Service was horrible. The food was good as always. When it came time to get the check, it took 15 minutes for her to figure out what we owed. She made several mistakes. It was a horrible experience. I have been here several times but am not sure I will ever return. This is a culinary school so I not only expect great food, I expect great service. I at least expect to get my Open Table points.
I had a reservation with specific instructions regarding the reason for eating at Platt (birthday celebration). When we arrived I wasn't asked who I was or if we had a reservation. After being shown to our table it took 10 minutes to place our order. Then it took almost an hour to get our meal. We both ordered the Delmonico steak cooked medium well. Both steaks were rare, and the meat was tough to cut. I kept sliding back in my chair trying to cut the steak. The potatoes were not seasoned properly.
While waiting an hour for our undercooked steaks another waiter came to our table and asked if we wanted dessert. We explained to her that we hadn't eaten yet.
Finally, after the meal was over, the same waiter came back and asked if we wanted dessert. I explained to her that we were there celebrating my dates birthday (which should have been realized if my reservation had been checked). The waiter offered a slice of chocolate cake. The cake was dry. It was not fresh, and had been in the refrigerator. We only ate half of it.
The dinner rolls, and honey butter, were good. That was about the only redeeming quality of the entire experience.
I had heard good things about Platt, but it was from people who had eaten lunch there. I guess the dinner choices, and staff, are different. As a result of our experience I simply can't recommend Platt.
Sorry, but you asked for my review and this is what happened.
The dining room looks like an upgraded Furs cafeteria which made me question my choice. Didn't judge the book by its cover, decided to stay. Service was slow bc under staffed, but our waiter was great and friendly. Carmelized wings came out first - bam, some of the best I have ever had. Would have ordered another set if they came quickly but due to slow service decided to skip seconds. Instead, ordered the duck and it was fabulous - better than many local places that charge much much more. Will go again - but not a place for romantic or special setting. It's a good place if you want a 4 star meal for 2 star pricing. Still thinking about those damn wings.
We had such a GREAT experience! Will be regular's from now on! Plus - we loved the idea of getting in on the beginning of the career's of these chef's! Really a delightful evening, with really good food, attentive and informative service, in a lovely setting! That should all add up to an expensive meal, but it doesn't......a great great value! A hidden gem in North OKC!!
It was nice that the restaurant was quiet and there were white table cloths, but apart from that, everything went down hill from that. The shrimp tempura was not light and delicate, but it was thick and heavy. The shrimp was lukewarm. The tempura should be served very hot. The cabbage salad was entirely yellow and white. It would have been better with more green instead of so much yellow. The mixed vegetables were the only redeeming point for my appetite. I was extremely disappointed with the quality of food. To be fair and accurate, the cheese cake was excellent and we were told it was prepared by the head instructor chef. But few people want to drive to a restaurant for dessert only. I thought because they were chefs in training that everything would be above average. The food for me was poor. I do not desire to go back, but I hope that somehow the school can turn everything around and be successful.
It was our anniversary, but the Thunder were in the playoffs so we decided to try a new place for lunch. We were not disappointed. The dining room was comfortable and we enjoyed visiting with the waitstaff. My husband ordered the grilled pork chop, which was huge and tender. I had the buttermilk chicken. He kept stealing bites from my chicken. We will go back.
