Online reservations at CHEFBAR at the Gerry Thomas Art Gallery can only be made directly on their website.
Restaurant appears closed for renovations. Should not be in reservation system.
Worst experience ever!!!! Booked on Open table for New Year's Eve dinner for me and my partner. We showed up at the restaurant on time and the restaurant was closed. No sign on the door indicating close for holiday. Also OpenTable took the reservation as it was open. Literally the worst experience ever on the worst timing also.
My partner and I had to call 11 other places to try to get a table. I was planning to propose on the New Year's Eve also but it definitely killed the mood a big time !
We had an amazing supper at Chefbar. The four of us were celebrating the end of a major project and went out for a treat and couldn't have chosen a better place. The service was spectacular, the drinks were playful and tasty (probably too tasty!) and the food was delicious. We asked to be served the chef's choice of dishes and we weren't disappointed. And above all, it was great to be served by staff who are genuinely enthusiastic about the food and drinks they're serving. We were treated like royalty. One of the best overall experiences I've had in Calgary.
The food was amazing - definitely a hidden gem. Surprised not busier but glad we got in as its a small intimate venue.
I loved this little gem. Great food - pork belly was delicious - both full of flavor and crispy as it should be. The lamb was equally as good, cooked to perfection, not under nor over cooked, I was disappointed when I was finished! Unfortunately the service was below par but it may have been a one off situation since there was an event on the lower level going on.
The best. Hidden gem in the Beltline. Amazing food and wine
The food is spectacular, presentation is incredible and is well worth checking out
Always a great experience. The patio is a lovely spot during the summer and the dining room has a cozy atmosphere during colder months. The share plate concept works well and the seasonal rotation of ingredients keeps things fresh. Brice mixes up cocktails ranging from classics to original recipes. The Bouretto Sour and the brussels sprouts shouldn't be missed!
There was a lot to like about this restaurant, if it was just about the food and drink and ambiance I would have rated higher. There were two servers helping us, which perhaps sounds like a good thing, but in fact it created a lot of confusion for both. One was clearly more experienced than the other and was trying her best but she seemed to be needing to take care of all the tables and picking up all the slack where the other, more junior server was lacking. They were also both doing the job of bartender as well. We had to ask multiple times for things. After sitting there for close to an hour we had to track someone down to put in our dinner order as we were all very hungry by this point. One of the tables was very uneven and wobbly which made eating dinner challenging. There was a dietary restriction that the one server kept having issues with, she clearly was not familiar with the menu, ingredients, and didn't bother checking with the kitchen until the food came out wrong. We were there for a special occasion so I will admit I was disappointed overall, we were out to celebrate and treat our friend for her birthday and I was hoping for an much more polished experience. I would give it another try in a few months for a casual lunch or something to see if the service has improved.
I've been here on three occasions and enjoyed each time. Not equally, but mostly because the specials change. The scallop dish was my favourite and was only offered the once. An added advantage is the gallery downstairs. Very nice to browse after dinner or lunch, if open, and Wednesday Wine and Art evenings are worth attending. Very nice patio with a fireplace as well.
