Chef Rolf's Tuna's Seafood Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We visited the restaurant on New Year’s Eve prior to going to the movies. 3 of us had veal Oscar which was delicious and the 4th had a fish dish with shrimps that was delicious as well. Portions were plentiful and creatively plated. Will definitely go back. Great neighborhood find that I had forgotten about.
Not sure this place knows what it wants to be-- fine dining with steaks and
cream sauces and "Continental" food, or a top-notch seafood place? It's both... but inside the restaurant is musty, heavy furniture and very un-Florida vibe. Both times I've eaten outside at the bar (both inside and outside have lovely service staff) and it's so chill and low-key. Either way the food is just terrific.....
Remember the good old days at La Paloma (sic) in North Miami? Same menu. Same quality entrees, delicious salads and deserts and the same chef! Chef Rolf recreated that gourmet cuisine in his own signature restaurant. We frequent this restaurant on a regular basis. Nobody does Long Island duck better. My wife swears by the wild Scottish Salmon. This is the first time we have ever eaten out on Thanksgiving and were not disappointed. The four course Turkey Dinner couldn't have been better.
This was the first time we ate at Chef Rolf's Tuna's Seafood Restaurant but will definitely not be the last. Our waiter was excellent, very good at making recommendations and very attentive. Our appetizers and entrees were all delicious. We saw a number of items that we want to try on our next visits. Can't wait to go back there soon.
Ambience was good, the food wasn't bad nor great but the bread was the best. The bartender very sarcastic and claimed she knew how to make alcoholic beverage and the only thing decent drink was the pina colada. Overall the waiters and waitresses were very nice.
A nice place to dine. We would of never been aware of this restaurant, if it weren't for Miami Spice! The food and the atmosphere was great, however, the restaurant does need some updating. Our waiter was not as attentive as he should of been, which was a down side. Despite such, we are likely to return for the food.
Service was fine and accommodating to special requests- for plainer versions of food- simplified! Food was awful. Little to no air conditioning made for the atmosphere being unbearably HOT. Been there before and it was "fine"- not great, not awful. After this experience, never again.
It was the worst dining experience for the past 10 years in Miami. Went there with my wife based on reviews and a menu that looks good, including oysters, anchovies, soups selection and other appetizers. oysters were not pre-cut and blue point russian oysters that were advertised with two kind of caviar were dusted with some sort of tiny fish roe colored in black and red.
For the soup we selected clam and corn chowder, chefs special preparation. This was more like a cream of bacon with potatoes. Anchovies (advertised as fresh) where out of a can or package that is exactly the same I bought two weeks prior at one of the supermarket chains (Wegmans) in Northeast.
Finally, my wife ordered pasta with grilled shrimp. Shrimp was hardly even warm and looked like it was just defrosted in a think. The only dish that was more or less tolerable was a european salad, but it could not make up for the overall Awful experience. I believe it was a new location for this restaurant and not sure that all the reviews were related to the old location, however based on our experience this place will not survive in a highly competitive restaurant landscape of Miami. I feel terrible having selected this place for dinner and wasting a beautiful evening that could be spent in 100s of other places we've enjoyed in miami and miami beach over the years.
Based on Yelp reviews, I chose Tunas. First, the location is almost impossible to find, with no clear signage in a run down almost vacant mixed use development. There's an outside bar that was fairly busy, most customers locals and there was even a guy who rode his motorcycle directly up to the bar area through pedestrian walkway! The loud juke box is located directly next to the entrance to the restaurant, and when someone entered or exited that door, the music drowned out conversation inside.
Appetizer selection was fairly limited and defiantly overpriced for the portion size, however the food quality was good, but not great. Lina hard to screw up bacon wrapped prawns.
Service was bad to fair. Server was nice but was never around nor did she seem to be really interested. Cocktails were small pours and way overpriced
Entree selection was ok with typical fish beef and pasta offers. 3 of our party of 5 ordered the evening special fish dishes, which were unimpressive presentation waist, but flavorful. Salad and sides were basics like wedge salad and roasted potatoes and again, not bad, just not great.
Will defiantly NOT go back, and I'm really glad I didn't get a chance to see the kitchen area, as I'm fairly certain that the cleanliness would not have been up to par.
Really good food at a reasonable price. Staff is very welcoming and take excellent care of us every time we visit - which is often. This is one of our favorite neighborhood spots. Two options: traditional dining indoors or a more casual, laid back atmosphere outdoors with a bar and simpler menu items. Good time either way.
This place does not know what type of restaurant wants to be. The formal area seems like a diner with white tablecloths in a converted outdoor area. The informal area off the bar it's just that, but with the same food. Then there's an outdoor area with a big bar scene which was actually crowded and hopping. That place look like a tiki bar ... not in keeping with more geriatric crowd outside and higher higher-end food . The food was pretty good overall and the waiter Ramon is a gem. But the ambiance was totally lacking.
This was our second visit to Tuna's Seafood Restaurant, and was even better than our first!
The food was excellently prepared, the ambience was great - there was even a keyboardist there who provided nice background music during the meal (only there on Friday evenings), which was something we didn't experience during our first visit.
The fettucini alfredo was heavenly, and the wienerschnitzel was perfect. Nice selection of draft beers and a good wine list as well.
We will definitely be back - Tuna's Seafood is fast becoming a fave for us when visiting South Florida!
