Chef Rob's Caribbean Cafe Ratings and Reviews
The food was pretty good and flavorful. I just wish there was more meat on the bone in the stew chicken dish.I didn't like the roti bread. My husband said the oxtails were ok.Our waitress was very sweet and attentive.I would like to return and try another dish.
The meal wasn't authentic. It wasn't a real carribean restaurant. The food was very salty and had mostly bones in the oxtails. Over priced and wasn't worth the money spent. If you are from the islands don't bother to use your money here.. I will never go back to this place nor will my business friends.
Still a hot spot & great neighborhood place to get your 'caribbean thirst' fulfilled. Been around since the beginning and love that Chef Rob has perfected the recipes, diversified the menu, has added the food truck, AND expanded to an 'Upscale Lounge' for a more 'grown & sexy' crowd. Stay terrific Chef!
The food was delicious , it was my best friend's and I first time dining there. I had the ox tails and she had the special Thai chicken which I tried it was so good!!!! She had never had ox tails before, and she absolutely loves them now. We will definitely return hopefully the next time the lounge area will have more singles males that will dance! The dj played age appropriate music, it's just men don't mingle like they use too!
Food was very good. Our service started out great, but something must have occurred in the restaurant while we were there bc our servers switched and the initial one seemed to be upset. I would have loved it much more if I didn't think everything was overpriced. Our tab seemed pretty high considering we both drank water.
I was quite disappointed in my experience bc I had dined there earlier this month and BRAGGED BRAGGED BRAGGED to my friends on how good the Chicken Marsala was... My boyfriend and I ordered the $30 appetizer platter that was lacking flavor, soul, Caribbean flare and authentication! It was something straight out of Walmart freezer section consisting of Popcorn Shrimp, Cocunut Shrimp, Egg Rolls (One of the 2 things I did get to enjoy) & the Jerk Chicken Wings (My boyfriend enjoyed)! Now on to the drinks... We both ordered a Bob Marley! And the only thing we tasted was Pineapple juice! The drinks were so far watered down, I was highly disappointed. And the for the main course... We ordered the jerk chicken and Oxtails combonplate. The chicken was not cleaned well and I had to spit the food out bc I had a big piece of chicken fat still attached. The Oxtails that EVERYBODY bragged about were lukewarm and tasted like they were cooked in a beer broth! Not an original Caribbean flavor! I ordered Mac N Cheese (LOVED IT) vs the rice and peas and yet rice and peas were delivered. I was so out done that I didn't even bother to tell my waiter. I really had enjoyed my meal the week before but the last time resulted in a dining experience I never want to experience again. Definitely NOT worth the $80 spent!
I purchased a groupon for dinner because I had eaten at chef Rob's at three times previous and the food was pretty good. But this evening they were busy because of a party and the food and service was very poor. It took at least 15 minutes for our server to come by and at least 30 minutes to get our food, maybe longer. Some of my food was cool and some of it was luke warm. My jerk chicken was tough and bled in several areas. My oxtails were bland, lacking any flavor. Our server didn't give any refills on drinks nor did she ask. I gave them another chance even after my last visit was so so. I won't be returning to chef rob's.
I have been living under a rock not to have found this place earlier! Lived in Sandy Springs for over 30 years - an interesting Groupon took me to this gem. Can't wait to go back. Simple but tasty and different fare. Coconut rice - yum!! Go for yourselves. Hidden secret in Sandy Springs. Service was exceptional - suggested what I was looking for and the friendly and knowledgeable waitress suggested an option that was an altered version of a menu item. Enjoy!
The restaurant AC was not working, the server was fanning herself with a to go box while taking orders. The food was ok. Didn't really remind me of authentic Jamaican food. One of my guests is from Jamaica and was very unhappy with the taste of the food. The snapper was overcooked..very chewy and smelled fishy when they delivered it. The oxtails tasted like bland brown gravy had been poured on it.
I ordered curry chicken, mac & cheese, collard greens and plantains. The chicken, collard greens and plantains were served nice and hot. The mac & cheese was barely warm and a bit stiff. The curry chicken and collard greens were heavily seasoned with sugar. The sugar overpowered the curry flavor. The collard greens were also too sweet. The plantains were the only item that didn't have added sugar. The portions were sufficient.
The server, Lexi, was fantastic in serving us. She got our drinks and food to us swiftly. Speaking of the food, the kitchen staff did an amazing job on the food! My plate was completely clean, save for the two bones from the oxtails! Lexi periodically checked to ensure our drinks were full.
There was a total lack of service. Parties seated after my group were served first. No one came to check on the table only to take our order and bring the food. I won't be visiting again and advise others not to either if they value customer experience.
Food was good.
I truly enjoyed my dining experience at Chef Rob's. The food was excellent. I took my cousin to lunch there for her birthday. I would have rated 5 stars for everything, but I did not like that 18% gratuity was automatically added to my bill. I like to decide the amount of my tip. I would have given 20%, but since the server made the decision for me, I left it at 18%.
Find great food and a cultural flair with this find. Enjoy something new and have fun. Great with groups or a date. Only thing I would say that would help make this a great place for kids is to prepare to bring some crayons for your child. They have the pages to color and keep your child busy, but no crayons :/ All in all, the food is delicious and I look forward to hanging out with wifey again in the near feature.
