I ate there yesterday for the second time. The first time was a couple of months ago and I had a filet - great. It was cooked well and seasoned well. Last night I ordered the NY strip. Nothing about the meal was good. My salad looked like it was a couple days past edible. The roll was two days old. The steak did not appear to be a strip but more of a rib eye. It was fatty and of poor quality. I took most of it home to my dogs. Service wasn't great either. I asked for a refill on my ice tea, and she didn't bother to put more ice in it. It was a luke-warm tea. Not many people there. Prices are rather high especially for that quality. I won't be back.

My date (spouses) enjoyed the half duck dinner and I went for the pork loin recommended my my date because he enjoyed it our last visit. We both loved our dinners and my husband enjoyed the half portion of the pork for lunch the next day. Really great house made food by Chef Mike and hosted by his wife, Kathy.

Been there so many times but had never tried the "whole chicken dinner for 2" menu option. We really loved it and it is a great value.
This reminded us of a regular Sunday night dinner my husbands mother fixed at least once a month...she split a chicken and broiled it in the stove with fresh lemon juice.
Chef Mikes grills it, splits it before serving it along with roasted potatoes, mixed vegetables, salad and house-made dinner rolls. Now that is a "Sunday" dinner but available any day of the week.

The server didn't come back to check on us. When he came back to pick up the check, he was on his cellphone. That was a first for me.

Three meals were very good good chicken 1/2, white fish special, chicken/ribs (note ribs Re not smoked if that's what you like) special although BBQ sauce very hot if that's your thing, strip steak a house specialty was not very special while large piece it was flavorless, and tough with a lot of gristle. Vegetables very good. Desserts small selection, coco loco pie is good and a reasonable sized price. Peach tart was ok but tart dough was hard and tough.
Service was very good especially considering a very argue group showed up without reservations wait staff was scrambling.
Almost 100% of times are made in house, including breads and most desserts.

A must try is the Buffalo Brussel Spouts appetizer....and don't forget to ask for Ranch or Blue. Yeah I know....weird, but delicious. Service is always friendly and accommodating. Bar/Beer list is better than average. Simple atmosphere where finely grilled food is generously served by a wait-staff who pays attention.

The charcoal grill makes ALL the difference!! Fabulous burger, cooked perfectly to my request, & the fries were even smoked and were mesmerizing. I can't say enough about my wonderful experience! Mike's is tucked away next to the Holiday Inn Express so GPS (Waze) didn't get me there, so I drove until I found it. I signed up for the rewards card & I will DEFINITELY return!

Food was good, but over-priced in my opinion, especially given the setting - older bar type place in small older strip mall (can't imagine overhead is that high). 7.50 for 7 asparagus spears? - they were very good, but really? On a better note, my daughter thought the fries were fantastic :)

This was our first time here and we would probably give it a 2nd chance but were not overwhelmed. We thought it was more of a BBQ restaurant but mostly steaks and chicken and sandwiches. My wife both described it as good not great. I had the brisket which was good and she had a filet but it had a strip of fat on it which made us question whether it was really a filet or not. The sides were serviceable but not outstanding. Again we would give it another try and order something different.

Just move to the northwest side. Looking for really good restaurants it's hard to find. This is a great steak restaurants with good atmosphere. I am so impressed with the service, reasonable prices, and great food!

Chef Mike's Grill seemed like a good choice. The prices were a bit steep. I think they should add more appealing appetizers and a few more dishes to their menu. The chicken Alfredo was delicious. My colleagues had a hard time ordering off the menu.

We had a late night steak dinner before closing. The owner was cordial and a great conversationalist. Tina's service couldn't have been better and the whole staff was nice and accommodating. The bar looks like a great place to watch sporting events.

We went to Indianapolis for a nfl game on Thanksgiving day, was trying to find a place to have a nice thanksgiving dinner for my girls. This was not it! For the price we paid was ridiculous! I'm a server and have worked all different venues and this was absolutely not worth the price we paid. The food was NOT good at all!

I have been to Chef Mike's on several occasions. However, this is my first time visiting for lunch. Lunch menu has a nice variety and the prices are very reasonable. I tried the Philly Cheese Steak w/fries. Fantastic!

Went with family in town they loved the beer selection had some rare three floyds beer on tap. I had the hamburger which was excellent. Good kids meals especially the pizza. All items are cooked on charcoal grills by the chef. They often have a few rotating specials as well.

I had 4 meat with chives (light) 8 oz hamburger hard to beat this one with very good fries
She had special lightly fried crappie with veg medley and potatoes excellent
Shared a salad that was very good
Dessert special coco loco ice cream was very good light on coconut with chocolate and coffee ice creams shared as it was enough for 2
All foods prepared on site from breads and hand cut lfries to meat mixtures. All items grilled on charcoal grill.
Food is tops, service is good, prices are mid range.

Positives: The waitress was very nice;
Negatives: The food was cold. One of us ordered T bone and the other Fillet. The T bone was missing the fillet and it was served chopped up to the other person. The meat was leathery and poor quality. The whole experience was disappointing!

the waitress was ok, but the timing of the food was bad. The salad didn't come out for 20 minutes, the steak was ordered well and it was very pink,had to send it back after waiting a very long time for it and the potato was not hot. It took too long for the food to be ready and it wasn't crowded at all.

We are frequent diners at this restaurant. Everything is delicious. Our most recent visit was on New Year's Eve. I ordered off of the special 4 course menu and the filet mignon and lobster tail were cooked perfectly. The goat cheese salad with raspberry vinaigrette was wonderful and the cheesecake and champagne at the end of the meal was a perfect finish to the meal. The service on this occasion was slow ( but it was NYE and the restaurant was packed). I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that enjoys a good burger AND likes gourmet food. This restaurant also offers special wine tasting menus on certain nights and I've heard those are excellent as well. Great, affordable kid menu as well.

The service is incredibly slow. I think they need to hire more help. Quite a conundrum on whether to go back--the food is really good, but the wait is interminable.

We've been to Chef Mikes numerous times and he never disappoints. The filet mignon was so tender and juicy you barely needed a knife. I highly recommend the eggplant fries, they were delicious. They always have special packages for different holidays that can't be beat. My favorite place!

Chef Mike is a Master of the grill. We love the pork chops. I usually get the mandarin salad because Chef Mike's home made dressing is so good with the mixture of mandarin oranges, Chinese noodles, and romain lettuce. The rolls being warmed on the grill make them taste extra special.

We were looking for a place to have a nice Fathers Day dinner and I found Chef Mike's on Open Table. I had heard some good things about them. We were really surprised to find that we were the only customers in the restaurant the entire time we ate. The food was very good and we loved the charcoal cooking technique. The atmosphere was a little too much of a roadside bar for us though. I may go back for lunch with a group of guys but I won't be taking my family as it was TV's and bar mostly.
