The food was amazing. The service was exceptional. This was one of the best fine dining experiences I’ve ever had. They personalized our menu and presented a special birthday dessert for my husband. We would eat here again and again.

It was such a memorable evening at Chef Mavro to celebrate my birthday! Food was outstanding from the start to finish and the service was impeccable. Loved the Chef Mavro’s’ table side preparation of special risotto and that was super delicious too! Can’t wait to visit there again.

Unfortunately, there was a smell of old oil that both my guest and I picked up as soon as we entered the restaurant. My guest is an excellent chef and could not tolerate the smell so we were moved to a table in the back. The servers were very attentive and the food and wine were excellent.

The room is lovely: warm and gorgeous. Chef's wife welcomed us and this personal touch was appreciated. The food was excellent. I was not too keen on what I thought was a fairly aggressive attempt to up sell both an expensive mushroom dish and the truffles. Wish there was a better selection of less expensive bottles of wine. We settled on a good Sancerre at 90 which is pricey. The whole meal is gulpingly expensive but worth it.

We’ve been dinning at Chef Mavro for seven years. Specifically for very special occasions. Chef Mavro is the Jean Georges, La Bernardine of NYC. Impeccable ambiance. Service that should be cloned and sold to all new and old restaurants and food that seems to get better, more refined and more creative every year. I am and will always be someone who totally dislikes wine parings. Chef Mavro has chosen wines that truly mary each and every dish. Perfect acidity, delicate fruit and tannins that are refined. Reward yourself. It’s worth every penny, $$$$ of your bill. .

The tasting menu was a work of art, every dish was extraordinary. The service was superb. Literally one of the best dining experiences my wife and I have ever had. Kudos!

If you are going to go out and have a great meal, have a place that offers quiet elegance, this is the place. Neither of us could handle a 9 course so we opted for a 4 and 5 course menu with wine pairing. For $45 or the price one bottle, you will get wine that has been chosen that will enhance the meal. Even if both parties select the wine, it's still a bargain at $90. Otherwise you are kind of stuck in no-man's land regarding the wine and food which results in compromising one aspect or the other. Since the 4 course is already set, I chose the 5 course menu based on plates that were not offered on the 4. This gave us the "9 course" without having to stuff ourselves silly. We could share bites and wine, enjoying all the offerings the Chef Mavro brings to the table. I have a fondness for risotto or pasta and the risotto with shaved truffle allowed us to indulge in the special offering of truffles during the season. Chef Mavro still makes it a habit and "work the room", interacting with the guests of the establishment. His staff are all well trained and versed in the dishes. You cannot give them enough accolades regarding this and you will not be disappointed.

Wait staff always friendly and attentive. Great attention to detail. Timing of service for 6 course menu was perfect. Plating was beautiful. Enjoyed every course with the egg/prosciutto truffle being my favorite followed by the truffle risotto. Truffle was shaved onto the risotto table side by chef Mavro himself. Great dining experience.

We loved all of the course dinner served. Although the price is rather high, we felt it was worth the price. We would go back again for another special occasion.

We were very disappointed with the dinner. The service was good, but the food seriously lacking. For an expensive dinner- $600+ for two, sadly we walked out very disappointed with both the food and the associated wine pairings. Undercooked, over seasoned and pretentious, it was simply not a good dinner. It seems like culinary ego got in the way of serving a good dinner.

Have been there in the past several times, even rented the entire restaurant for a party, but never experienced such terrible service and food any where, especially with a price tag of $650 for 2 people! Seated late and first course one hour later! Wine pairings arrived 20 mins before the course and 30 minutes between courses. Terrible experience. My reservation was for 845p, left at 1130 before finishing my 4th course. Left behind our remaining courses in disgust. Never going back

Went for Valentine’s Day. For the price of the meal, which was very expensive, I’d typically expect a lot more. The service was mediocre; took about 10 minutes to get greeted by the server and they weren’t aware of our dietary restrictions which I had spoken to the restaurant about on multiple occasions. Overall, just fair food and not worth the price.

Great overall experience. Food was fantastic, best I’ve had in a while. Where they fell short was on service, it was a busy night for them (valentines day), but the waiters forgot to bring us certain requested items at multiple points in the evening and most importantly forgot to bring my requested anniversary dessert, despite reminding them right before the set was over. It tainted what could have otherwise been one of the most amazing dining experiences.

Went for the special Valentine’s Day menu - and it will forever go down as one of the best meals we have ever had! The service was attentive without being overwhelming, the atmosphere was upscale but casual enough to feel comfortable and not at all stuffy, and the food was incredible! Each dish was small but was enough to enjoy the flavors, and we ended up feeling perfectly full by the end. The wine pairing was delicious and complemented the dishes perfectly. The bill was high, but we know about how much we would be spending heading into it so there were no surprises - and it was totally worth it! Wouldn’t recommend for everyday dining because of the price tag but would recommend 100 times over for a special date or special occasion. Thanks, Chef Mavro!!

Everything was thoughtfully prepared to really put the emphasis on what you were eating. The subtle spices and flavors were masterful, enjoyed every bite. Every wine pairing was perfect. Staff and service were first rate.

My boyfriend and I had an early Valentine’s dinner, and as he has dietary restrictions, we had to plan the menu a week in advance. Chef Jeremy Shigekane kindly modified the dishes so D could eat them safely- but you would never guess that they weren’t what is featured on the menu. Everything was stellar!

We had buckwheat blinis as light and tender as clouds with osetra caviar, scallops that tasted like they were only hours out of the ocean, and enjoyed an inspired pairing of wagyu and crispy breadfruit. The lemon dessert was to die for.

Chef Mavro rightly deserves its reputation as a world-class restaurant.

We had an amazing and memorable dining experience at Chef Mavro's! It was our first time and definitely wont be our last. First impression from hostess greeting us to server and server assistants checking up on us, sommelier ensuring our dining experience is well complimented with the wine pairing offered and Chef Mavro himself stopping by our table to greet us and asking how our experience is thus far. Everything was top notch and perfect in celebration of our early Valentine's Day. Thank you so much for making this one of the memorable dining experience we had. We will be back!

We were expecting a two star Michelin as advertised about Chef Mavro but the dinner was quite disappointing. One of the worst French cuisines I ever had and I used to live in Paris and quite familiar with great Michelin rated places like Robuchon. Chef Mavro overly uses salt that hides most tastes and some dishes like the lamb were impossible to swallow. My wife could not have more than one bite and returned the plate untouched. My lobster was barely cooked and totally unenjoyable. Wine was overly expensive for a 5 ounce Chateau Musar at $29 when a bottle sells for less than that at wine stores. I wish we had taken the time to read some one star reviews here or on TripAdvisor which could have saved us a $450 wasted evening dinner.

Best restaurant in the West hands down. Service is excellent and detailed plots the food is meticulously made. The flavors all meld into one and magically separate where you taste the different notes.

Love that the place is not noisy and you can hold a nice conversation.

This is our favorite restaurant and we have been eating here everytime we come back to Honolulu since they opened.

It makes a big difference that Chef Mavro is always in the kitchen.

Our table of eight's expectations were met! How does one really describe food like this - innovative, beautiful, gastronomically superb, each bite a delight! And let's not overlook the wine pairings. It's food to be savored and appreciated. Made for the best 70th surprise birthday party for my "sistah" !

Many have raved about Mavro and I can see why. The food is notches above anything else in Honolulu, but the bar is low. It's clear the restaurant aspires to greater things (like a Michelin star), but isn't detail-oriented enough to get there yet. Some dishes on the grand tasting menu worked (the diver scallop) and some not so much (keahole lobster). The menu on their website should be taken as a guide, not the actual dishes served. The decor is dated and carpets need a serious clean, but the service and wine pairings were excellent. I recommend Mavro's to anyone wanting to try something a little different than your usual Hawaiian fare.

the most interesting kitchen in Honolulu, potentially the best. however the vegetarian menu (135 usd!) turned out to be a bad joke. 5 courses ridiculously inconsistent and so small as to leave you starving. after discussing it with the maitre (who specified that their menu is designed for those who want to eat little and stay light), I pointed out that even vegetarians want to eat and fill their bellies, since they are not perpetually on a diet. At this point the chef remedied giving us a tasty portion of local cheese, but this was not enough to make up for the mockery of spending $ 135 for 3 pieces of vegetables.

It's stuck in a questionable neighborhood where a security guard is employed to watch over your vehicle, which I thought strange but then I don't live in Honolulu. Just visiting from Big Island. From what I remember, which more than month ago, everything was enjoyable, no complaints, and now wish I had ordered the white truffles.

元旦のディナーで利用しました。
お料理は繊細でどれも素晴らしかったのですがところどころに混ぜ合わされていた和や中華のテイストが
気をてらい過ぎていて微妙な仕上がりになっていました。
食前にその日使用するトリュフをテーブルまで持ってきて見せてくれた割には出された料理にそれほど
使われていなかった。
常連さんと初めてのお客様への対応の違いもあからさまで残念でした。

In this price range everything should work perfectly. Most of the dishes in tasting menu were tasteless and gluten free substitutes were also dissapointments especially rasberry sorbet as a dessert. I don't know what happened at the end but they kind of forgot us and we had to wait desserts for half an hour. They looked confused, but didn't apologies.
