We offer snacks and cocktails from 4:30-8pm on our porch, making it a great gathering spot for anyone with guests, out for the day on the boat or meeting up prior to dinner. Enjoy the beautiful sunsets

We only went for dinner but found the inn very homey. There is a wrap around porch for dinning and lounging. The food was delicious; the portion sizes were such that we had room for dessert, which is a must. Beautiful view of the water.

Lunch at the Inn was a throughly enjoyable experience. We were pleasantly greeted and taken to our requested table on the screened in porch overlooking the golf course and the bay. The waitstaff was prompt and attentive throughout our meal. The Bloody Marys were “top shelf” and very spicy as requested. Our wedge salad and mussels appetizers were especially good as was the fish and chip offering we had as our main course. The lunch menu is somewhat limited, especially for repeat luncheon diners, but the ambiance of the setting, especially on a clear and sunny day seated at a table on the porch or on the grass, makes a return to the Inn a definite.

Took a little while to get the boat up to restaurant, but food was great. We had a 9:45 am reservation for breakfast and when we arrived at 9:50, ( we got to mooring at 9:30 and walked up hill to the Inn) we were told kitchen closed at 10 so we would have to place order quickly. Our waitress was wonderful and we didn’t feel rushed after all.

We had brunch and it was delish! I personally recommend the Lobster Benedict, which was a daily special. We ordered french toast for the table to share -- is amazing and the lemon scones are some of the flakiest I've ever tasted. Others in our group loved the Smoked Salmon Tartin -- you can add a poached egg to it, too. The restaurant also has cappuccino and espresso and some outstanding organic herbal teas from SerendipiTea.
A nice touch was live jazz music, which occurs every Sunday during brunch.
We arrived by ferry from Cousins Island, Yarmouth and the Inn's staff picked us up and brought us back down.

I dined on the porch and enjoyed the beautiful views. Then was fortunate enough to enjoy the amazing food. The heirloom tomatoes were sheer perfection and o only made better being paired with buratta. Tomatoes featured prominently again in main course of bavette steak, fried green tomatoes, grilled pattypan squash with some more heirlooms in the mix. Overall, it was a wow. Thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing stay. Thanks!!

We’re New Yorkers staying in Portland and curious about the islands in the Casio Bay. We eagerly took a ferry to go to Chebeague island and have lunch at the Inn. Food was mediocre. I ordered a strawberry green salad and paid extra for the addition of chicken salad. I was hungry after and asked to see the menu but the waiter told me the kitchen was closed. I asked if there was cheese or nuts I could munch on. We had another hour before we were leaving for the return ferry. The waiter apologized but said nothing was available. As I sat there waiting for my friend to finish her meal, I saw the waiter bring out meals to other diners. Eventually he brought me some sugared nuts, said that was all they had and charged me $8 for the small bowl. I have never had such inconsiderate service.
Unfortunately the Inn is run down though it is in a beautiful spot. On the same trip we drove to the Farnesworth museum in Rockland and stayed at the Strawberry Hill Inn with a view of the bay (Penobscot) and a lawn and landscaping that puts the Chebeague Inn to shame.

After making an Open Table reservation and requesting a table “on the porch”, we arrived twenty minutes prior to our reservation and checked in. We indicated that we reserved a table on the porch and asked if it would be OK to have a drink in the outside section of the porch (unscreened area) with a clear view of the bay before proceeding to our table. We were advised that would not be a problem. At that point, the screened in area of the porch where the vast majority of tables are located was virtually empty. We returned to be seated five minutes before our reservation time expecting to be seated in the screened in area where we always sit but were told that all of the tables were reserved. When I informed the person working the checkin desk that we had made a reservation for the porch she condescendingly stated that the restaurant considered all of the outside dining tables to be “on the porch”. We were then seated at one of only two tables outside of the screened in porch area. I had the water serving station approximately a foot from the back of my head throughout our meal. Had this occurred in the evening when mosquitoes are a problem we would have walked out.

We own a home on the Maine island on which the Inn is located and have been summer patrons for over twenty-five years. We have never encountered a problem with screened in porch dining during that entire time.

Following the initial problem, the service was very good. The menu is very limited but the food quality/taste was also very good. The quantity of mussels served was on the low side.

Nice lunch - very limited choices on the menu. Staff was pleasant but didn’t seem fully engaged or trained - and yes there were enough staff. Major problem was that there were at least four flies and a small wasp where we were sitting indoors. A little surprised by the lack of attention to detail given the prices. Also - wouldn’t it make sense to use umbrellas for the tables you have outside if you have them? A couple of easy fixes that would improve dining experience.

Beautiful setting and lovely porch. My friends and I came over with our bikes. We were hot and sweaty from our ride to the ferry from Falmouth and welcomed the porch and cold water. There was no regular iced tea available, but we did try the flavored tea which was nice, but disappointed that it was not automatically refilled. The food was good, though the portions are small (over $5 for a 1/2 cup of chicken salad on our green salad??). Service was slow but we wrote it off for "island time" and as long as we had water, we were fine. The nicest feature: the bus girl filled up our water bottles with ice water so we were well hydrated for the remainder of our bike trip. Thank you!

I was not prepared for the cost to get there. Using the Chebeague Island Transit - the Ferry ride over was $18 a person on top of $15 for parking at the bus location. As a local, I thought this was steep for the experience. I wished the Inn had offered a discount or something for those wishing to eat at the restaurant.

We were disappointed to learn on the day of our reservation that the launch service to bring boaters in to the dock was not working. As a result, my husband had to wait on the boat until a space opened up on the dock and was late for the reservation. We would have appreciated a heads up. Also, they were out of some of the menu items, and the service was slow. This was out of the norm for the restaurant. We will go back, since we love it there, but it was not their best showing.

Situated high on a hill above the ferry terminal with sprawling views of the water and a gorgeous golf course, the setting of the Chebeague Island Inn can't be beat. We were a bit surprised to find, then, that the service did not live up to the atmosphere--we had requested to sit outside, but were instead twice offered a table on a covered porch with plastic curtains covering the windows (kind of strange on a gorgeous sunny 75 degree day?). It took 20 minutes until we were finally seated outside and 20 more until we got water and were able to place our order. Luckily the drinks were cold and the food was delicious (BLT and mussels). Our server professional and polite. I would say go for the stunning atmosphere and just don't expect a world class dining experience and you'll do just fine!

Ferry ride to island was well worth it. This is a "throwback" establishment not fancy and in your face like most inns and restaurants around here now. Don't ever change! The Chebeague Island Inn is a dying breed. Simple and elegant.

The Chebeague Inn is quintessential Maine. It’s sophisticated but not fussy, yet cozy and welcoming. The food and service was excellent. It did take time to get our meals but it was busy and I imagine staffing was a bit limited. Overall we had a lovely experience.

From beverage service on the gorgeous porch overlooking the ocean, lovely gardens, and the 9-hole “island golf course” to friendly, efficient service at our table, we enjoyed a wonderful several hours at the Chebeague Island Inn. The lobster rolls and french fries were delicious! As day trippers, we thought that getting there was half the fun, from the Route One parking lot by bus to the ferry slip, and then a short but delightful crossing from Cousins Island to Chebeague. What a way to spend a memorable day on the Maine coast in the summer!

Lovely island location, we went out on our boat on a busy day for brunch and service was “leisurely” but we weren’t in a hurry. The food was average but satisfactory (in past years the food has been more interesting and higher quality). The real reason to go is the summer island hotel ambiance. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, from the boat launch drivers to the front desk to the servers, there’s a cool sea breeze blowing through the restaurant, and there are board games to play in the salon afterward. All in all a very pleasant afternoon “getaway.” If they could up their gastronomic game a bit it would even better.

I ordered the eggs Benedict with ham, which was the priciest dish on the menu. The presentation was very plain and the flavors unmemorable. The fruit bowl added color to the table and I enjoyed the fact that the oranges did not have their skins.

Our dinner reservation followed a large wedding party on the premises. While the service was good, the food served seemed to reflect “fatigue in the kitchen”. The mussel appetizers were fine; the pork entree was dry and fairly tasteless. Lesson learned: if you cannot get served before 8:15 offseason, ask why!
