About
Great new menu as Chavez becomes Violet
Everything was great!
Food was very bland for Latin food. Drinks were great.
Very nice "hole in the wall" spot for Mexican cuisine
Unique and tasty food and cocktails. Delicious fresh guacamole. Great service.
Loved it! Second time there and have been very happy with food and service.
Food and service were great. Good drink and food options. We will come back!
It’s been a while since my partner and I left the restaurant so happy! Every bite hits the spot. Will definitely be back when we are in the city next time
Chavez is always great! Bartender is so nice and offered some tasty Mezcal. Mama Chavez (chef’s mother) was making the amazing stuffed peppers at a corner table. Food is great!
Chavez is awesome
Chavez is one of our favorite places to dine in the city. Consistently excellent food and service. We’re loving they’re specials too! Some of the best Mexican food in the city with some of the best staff.
The cocktails were very good, and one of our mains was amazing. The shrimp appetizer was over-cooked, and the masa in our other appetizer was over-worked, and so was tough. Over-all not worth returning for another visit.
The team at Chavez was so accommodating of our group. I’ve truly never experienced such quick flexibility to accommodate a larger group than expected and the food was absolutely wonderful!
Chavez continues to be my favorite restaurant in Seattle!
Good authentic food, though a bit expensive for things like the appetizers.
The food is delicious, but it is super spendy for what it is. Price alone will keep me out, as there are plenty of foodie-grade Mexican options in Seattle that aren't as astronomically priced.
The space is comfortable, clean, and quiet. Good for a date.
The service is professional and polite, but they had trouble splitting a bill in half for a table of four. I wouldn't have minded under normal circumstances, but they put $120 of a total $170 tab on one card and $50 on the other???(that is pre-gratuity, no dessert meal with drinks)
Food is always outstanding. Service was under par due one of the staff not there hat night. Other wise we’ve always had excellent servise and food
We were forgotten about. Food wasn’t worth the poor service.
You can taste the work that goes into the food. You taste the love that went into making it. Reminded me of home. Will be back for sure. Thanks for a great dinner Hector
We went for Restaurant Week 2018 and everything we ate was flavorless, bland at best. The Restaurant Week menu was really nothing special. We had to wait extraordinarily long for all of our courses although it wasn't even a full house on a Wednesday. The waiter apologized twice for the wait but did not offer any discount or free drinks. I had heard that Seattle had terrible Mexican food but I was not expecting the dinner to be this tasteless. I hope this is not the case every night (maybe the chef was sick and they had someone who had no idea how to cook Mexican food in the kitchen) or in other Mexican places in Seattle; but we were very disappointed and will not be going back as the regular prices are not even on the lower side.
Chávez continues to be my favorite restaurant in Seattle, and tonight was no exception. Brenda is a fabulous waiter, personable, warm, knowledgeable. The ambiance is fantastic, but the real star is the food: authentic, healthy, fresh, creative. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough!
Very average tacos. Over saturated with lime. Super bland. 4 small tacos $18.
Open table let us make a rez for brunch but there is no brunch. It was closed!!
Super cute! The waitress was very attentive and the tacos weren't super messy!
It is hard to find great Mexican food in Seattle, but Chavez is at the top of the list for me. It has become my new favorite restaurant in Seattle. I love bringing people here for the first time—and to a person they have been wowed!
What a great meal the 4 of us had. The carne asada was given rave reviews by the 2 of us who had it.. The best I have ever had. The rice and beans that went along with it were freshly made and we're amazing. Our friends ordered fish and pork tacos... Not a morsel was left on any of our plates. I would recommend this restaurant for any day of the week meals with a couple or friends as well as perfect for a date. My only issue was the was a bit of an unexpected taste which was fine, but was not what I expected. Could not pinpoint the flavor, possibly heavy on Brandy? Either way I drank it just the same. We will definitely be coming back again!!!
This was our first time there and we LOVED it. Great service & Great food.
This is my new favorite restaurant! I can’t say enough good things about the dining experience here. And, finally! Authentic fresh Mexican food in Seattle! Make a reservation, though, as this place is popular!
Best dining experience of the month! The food was fabulous and service outstanding. Would choose Chavez again in a heartbeat when hosting out of town guests or gathering with friends.
Awesome Mexican food! They have natural juices :)
We arrived right after as the restaurant opened at five thirty, in fact we were a little bit late. they were very accommodating and forgave our tardiness. great service. good food. all-around excellent restaurant
This was our first time at Chavez and we took our friends in from Atlanta there.
Our waiter was very attentive, the food was delicious and we were very comfortable taking our time-we never felt rushed.
We had a nice evening and our friends were also impressed.
I received a message from open table indicating that I had missed my reservation. I was at my reservation and had a good meal.
I came here for brunch with two friends on a Sunday morning. We made a reservation but didn't need to as it wasn't very crowded. Absolutely loved the atmosphere and decor. I had the huevos ahogados and a spiked mexican coffee and both were delicious. One of my friends got tacos, and while they were good, the portion was way too small. The dish came with three small tacos - no side of rice or anything. Aside from this, I had a great experience.
We got there for our 8:45pm reservation but the table wasn't ready until 9:15pm. We sat down, but it wasn't until 9:40pm that we got our menus (after asking the staff a few times for it). Drinks came after the appetizers, and then meals. Taste and food quality were very good.
When the time came for the bill, I had one of those prime cards I wanted to use. The waitress proceeded on a 5 minute monologue on how difficult it was to process those, then after arguing with her for awhile, I just asked for the check and tried to get out as fast as I could with my friends.
If you want terrible, unfriendly and unorganized service, Chavez is for you. Although the food was quite good, it is highly unlikely I'll be back.
Always delicious, Poblano Chili outstanding as well as short rib tacos. Fish tacos need a boost.
A little tasteless
I wish I could comment on the quality of the food here, but all I can say is that I received the worst service of my life here. Showed up at 9:28 for my 9:30 reservation. The place was not packed, but it looked like there were only two people on the floor. It took about 5 minutes for anyone to acknowledge me, but the hostess confirmed that I did not want a seat at the bar, that I had a reservation, and told me a table was just closing out now and she would clean the table off and seat me, and to sit and wait. I watched the table close out and leave, a few minutes later it was wiped down, but once again I couldn’t even get anyone to make eye contact with me. I kept waiting and then a large group walked in. The hostess came over and told them she just had to make a table for them and disappeared to push tables together and wipe them down, and then came back and seated the group. When she walked by the waiting area again I tried to get her attention to ask when I would be seated, but she put her hand up to shush me and told me she’d be with me in a minute. I gathered as I was waiting that she had mischarged a table and was fixing it, but when she was done she did not come back over. I stood up and tried to make eye contact with literally anyone else working and at 9:52 a gentleman that I think was a waiter came over to check in on me. I explained that I had a 9:30 reservation and had been on time and waiting, and that another group had come in after me and been seated even though I was told a table just had to be wiped off for me, and he just said ‘Well, the table is clear, you can sit there now’ in an annoyed tone. At that point I was really hungry and I honestly didn’t want to end my night tipping these people so I just left and went to Dick’s. Actually the most disappointing dining experience I’ve ever had.
Edit: I reached out to Chavez via email about my experience and was completely ignored. I recommend Tallulah’s, about 5 minutes by car or a 20 minute walk.
Improve service.
Great atmosphere complimented with a simple but delicious menu. The bar is no joke—custom Mexican inspire cocktails that are reasonably priced for the neighborhood.
Food is delicious and well presented. Service is excellent. Our water glasses never were left empty. Server not only knew about all the food on the menu, he was accommodating, thoughtful and attentive. The food is creative. Definitely try the salsa with dried ants and the guacamole with grasshoppers. There's something for everyone here.
