It was buffet night, which we didn't realize, and it was not possible to order from a menu. The food was ok but the price was outrageously high. It was great to be beach-side but we were taken by surprise.
The Chatham Bars inn Beach Grill is a buffet-style dinner set in a spectacular ocean-view setting at a beautiful hotel in Chatham. This cape cod beauty is unlike anything I have ever experienced. The back drop is picture perfect with boats sitting in the harbor, and a beautiful, sea inspired, dining hall with outside seating. There is a bon fire and tug of war for kids on the nearby sand, and if they are old enough kids can play on the sand, while you sit back and enjoy a drink and the scenery with friends and family. There is a lot of food to choose from. I would have to say the food it good, but not top-shelf, but it's a buffet, you can't expect the best. This year I noticed the clam chowder wasn't very good.
Our evening at the Beach House Grill started off very well, lovely table outside but 1/2 hour into our meal it started to rain and chaos ensued. The staff was clearly unprepared and we were left to fend for ourselves. We were told to "grab your lobster and find a table? Really for a meal that was $150, grab your food and find a table? CBI you can do better than that!
Go for lunch on a beautiful summer day and have the lobster roll. The setting is lovely and the rolls are delicious.
We had two meals at the Beach House Grille on our recent Cape vacation. It's in a perfect spot and the atmosphere is really fun and enjoyable, overlooking the water. It's quite pricey, but in my book worth it for the experience. Lunch was enjoyable and tasty. We also did the evening clam bake. There's a great selection of food, some quite good and others with that classic overcooked buffet taste. But the atmosphere is fun and the food was plentiful. Our daughter loved the organized games on the beach, and we were thrilled that the meal was not rushed at all. They really expect you to sit back and relax and stay for a while.
Eight of us (including 4 children ages 7 to 16) went for the dinner buffett one evening in July 2011. The wait staff was really green. Nice kids, but they were out of their element. Our waiter forgot to mention that lobster was included in the price of the buffett. You need to ask to it, as it comes directly from the kitchen. My mother-in-law was really dissapointed about that. Otherwise the food in the buffett was better than average and the kids had a great time. Great location, great view and when one of our kids found glass in her salad the manager went on a hunt to figure out what happened. Turned out the broken glass was in the dressing. The manager took one of the meals off our bill as a courtesy. V. classy!
Outstanding for seafood and lobster. The meats that were grilled were only okay, and the kids buffet only had french fries, chicken fingers and pizza.
Excellent evening out - perfect weather (IMPORTANT!) and service was impeccable. Clambake was top notch.
I thought $37.00 for two Bud Lights and two mojitos was excessive.
A wonderfully festive evening with family and friends. The buffet was delicious, the service attentive. Great people watching and music to boot! We're so glad we chose Chatham bars for our last night on the Cape. What a beautiful setting to dine in.
Great clambake! Amazing amount of food for all tastes.
Great price-- breathtaking view.
Lots of families
There is nothing more classic New England than a Summer's eve at the Chatham Bars Inn. The Beach House grill features a traditional NE clambake during the week & it is packed with all the staples! The backdrop of Chatham's picturesque Pleasant Bay is breathtaking at sunset. The menu includes offerings for children. Our only issue: the waitstaff wasn't very attentive, our server seemed to be handling too many tables. Since it is a buffet, the servers seemed to be scarce; made it tough to enjoy a second cocktail ;-). Overall, a must if you are in the area!
Our clambake dinner was better than expected. There were so many choices that it was hard to try everything that was included, but what we did have was excellent. You need to plan on pacing yourself and enjoying all dishes slowly - there is only one seating so no rush and the view is beautiful.
All of Chatham Bars Inn facilities are outstanding. The Beach House Grill under Jared Schulefand's leadership has become a must-visit place.
