Chateau Morrisette Ratings and Reviews
Our experience was lovely. The waitress and kitchen were accommodating for substituting one side for another. The food was absolutely mouthwatering and did not disappoint. The wines were wonderful. A real experience. If you visit during the day you will be able to take tour of the winery and gift shop. Chateau offers many other events of which we have not yet had an opportunity to experience, like the concerts and wine tastings.
My husband and I have been visiting Chateau Morrisette for at least 25 years and have loved every visit and meal! We love having Jennifer as our server in the restaurant. Often, we have our family and friends join us and so far all of them have enjoyed their experience as well!
We do miss the rack of lamb that was on the menu last spring. Please consider adding that entrée back to the menu.
The good: great views! Food well prepared, service was great, warm fire burning, very cozy, great to do wine tasting beforehand.
Bad: several of the dishes we ordered were not available and we had an early dinner time. We were misled about the happy hour prices. Portions are small and very pricey. Only one vegetarian option and limited gluten free options.
Was a nice experience but probably wouldn’t eat there again.
Have been to the Chateau multiple times. Food is always excellent, although this visit food was not quite as outstanding as usual. Duck was a bit tough. Risotto was just too “plain”. Plus, given the high price points, entrees should really include a soup or salad. $25+ for a small portion of risotto with 4-5 asparagus spears, no bread, no salad, no soup is simply not a good value.
We love the setting and enjoy the food. There are three dining areas inside; the largest space of the three is attractive BUT the lighting is not romantic at all. We always ask to be seated in either of the two smaller dining rooms.
If you want to dine outside, you MUST reserve a table. It’s hugely popular for the view and the setting.
We have only one complaint, the bread at the table is awful. The local FoodLion artisan bread would be 1000 times better. Chefs come & go but somehow the restaurant maintains the quality. (Except the bread).
We were somewhat disappointed in our experience. Maybe this is a place to go in the summer - they have gorgeous views and outdoor areas. However, the restaurant was uncomfortably cold. When we asked about the temperature we were told that the person who brings wood was sick and they couldn't build fires in the fireplaces. Odd on the surface, and there was a full cart of wood near the entrance. The food was adequate but uninspiring. We were there for brunch and had burgers. One was ordered medium and one medium well. They were cooked identically and both were charred on the surface. Fries were bland. Doubt that we will return.
We come to Chateau Morrisette on special occasions and to bring new friends in the area to see what wonderful places we have. We celebrated Christmas with my mom this time and from beginning to end, we could. It have been happier. We were seated immediately and because mom is in a wheelchair, I asked to be seated closer to the entrance. We were. We were also seated next to the fireplace, so we were warm and had a gorgeous view by a window. All of the servers were excellent, helpful, and friendly. Our food was delicious. We had dessert, too, and it was wonderful, as was the coffee.
Our family has been visiting Chareau Morrisette since it first opened many years ago and have enjoyed watching it grow. Fortunately, it has gotten better and better. This is one of our favorite places.
We’ve been coming here snce 1999.The restaurant has gone through a lot of chefs, which always makes me wonder what we’ll find. The food is always good, sme chefs more creative than others.
The scenery is wnderful, and esting outside in the summer is my favorite.
We have never had a bad experience at Chateau Morrisette.
The food, wine, and service is always great and it was very easy to make our lunch reservation online. We look forward to various events throughout the year, especially the Beach Music on the Mtn., and the Christmas Tastings with great discounts on wine. We only have a 1 1/2 hour drive to the winery so it’s very convenient for us to visit. We would definitely recommend the Chateau to others! Until next time.......
We love to visit this restaurant when we visit the Parkway. It is such a beautiful area with a nice view. Whether eating outside or inside the ambiance is great. We enjoyed the warm, cozy fireplace on our visit and found everyone to be friendly. The food was great!
My husband loves their wine, so he normally gets a couple cases of the wine to take home. The winery has a large tasting area and there are tours as well. Lots of nice gifts are available for purchase.
We visit “at least” once a year and sometime more often.
We love coming to the "Chateau" as we call it. Our experiences have always been very good and we enjoy the "Chateau" for over 17 years. We have seen staff come and go over the years. This visit was not as memorable. The waitress that we had "Taylor" is the worst we have seen over the years. No personality, no smiles, flat and cold was her service. Taylor should not be in the wait staff business. Unfriendly, pasty face, just doing her job - almost. I gave her my usual tip of $30.00 but she was not worth it at all. All other staff members were top notch as usual and we love them for their congeniality and helpfulness always and take time to talk with us. Bravo to the Chateau staff who are so kind.

Very nice place, the drive to get there is beautiful. It is located in the va mountains, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, the scenery is just fabulous. The buildings are very stylish and the staff very inviting. Fireplaces throughout in season make for a nice touch. We ate lunch and it was very good. I had the lamb meatloaf sandwich and parmesan ff and it was excellent. My wife had the cheese and meat try which was good also. We had a bottle of merlot with lunch and it was good.
There is a large patio for outdoor dinning when the weather is warm enough with a very nice view.
Then it was off for a wine tasting at the winery building and also very good.
We have dined there many times and love the place. Usually go for special occasions or during spring or fall to enjoy the scenic drive (app. 1 1/2 hours from home.) The location and scenery are absolutely beautiful, the service and the food are great.
Our waitress, Jennifer, did an outstanding job. We realized in talking that she was our waitress the last time we were there. Hopefully she will be again on our next visit.
Very nice for a special get away to have a nice above scale meal paired with some great wine. The fire in the fireplace was an added bonus on a cool windy day. Service was polite and timely. The deserts are always a great finish to any meal. Always a great experience ever time we go.
It has been some time since my last visit to the restaurant and a new chef is in the house.
Our party ordered three different lunch entres and tasted each other's food. Everything was spectacular!
The lamb meatloaf was my favorite with a side salad and Chambourcin wine.
A perfect meal with friends at a perfect setting!
