Chateau Morrisette Ratings and Reviews
We love to visit this restaurant when we visit the Parkway. It is such a beautiful area with a nice view. Whether eating outside or inside the ambiance is great. We enjoyed the warm, cozy fireplace on our visit and found everyone to be friendly. The food was great!
My husband loves their wine, so he normally gets a couple cases of the wine to take home. The winery has a large tasting area and there are tours as well. Lots of nice gifts are available for purchase.
We visit “at least” once a year and sometime more often.
We love coming to the "Chateau" as we call it. Our experiences have always been very good and we enjoy the "Chateau" for over 17 years. We have seen staff come and go over the years. This visit was not as memorable. The waitress that we had "Taylor" is the worst we have seen over the years. No personality, no smiles, flat and cold was her service. Taylor should not be in the wait staff business. Unfriendly, pasty face, just doing her job - almost. I gave her my usual tip of $30.00 but she was not worth it at all. All other staff members were top notch as usual and we love them for their congeniality and helpfulness always and take time to talk with us. Bravo to the Chateau staff who are so kind.

Very nice place, the drive to get there is beautiful. It is located in the va mountains, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, the scenery is just fabulous. The buildings are very stylish and the staff very inviting. Fireplaces throughout in season make for a nice touch. We ate lunch and it was very good. I had the lamb meatloaf sandwich and parmesan ff and it was excellent. My wife had the cheese and meat try which was good also. We had a bottle of merlot with lunch and it was good.
There is a large patio for outdoor dinning when the weather is warm enough with a very nice view.
Then it was off for a wine tasting at the winery building and also very good.
We have dined there many times and love the place. Usually go for special occasions or during spring or fall to enjoy the scenic drive (app. 1 1/2 hours from home.) The location and scenery are absolutely beautiful, the service and the food are great.
Our waitress, Jennifer, did an outstanding job. We realized in talking that she was our waitress the last time we were there. Hopefully she will be again on our next visit.
Very nice for a special get away to have a nice above scale meal paired with some great wine. The fire in the fireplace was an added bonus on a cool windy day. Service was polite and timely. The deserts are always a great finish to any meal. Always a great experience ever time we go.
It has been some time since my last visit to the restaurant and a new chef is in the house.
Our party ordered three different lunch entres and tasted each other's food. Everything was spectacular!
The lamb meatloaf was my favorite with a side salad and Chambourcin wine.
A perfect meal with friends at a perfect setting!
We ordered a burger/fries. Two in our party of four ordered their burgers well done. At the waitresses recommendation they ordered them medium well. She said they would done with no pink in the middle. When they arrived one of the two cut her burger in two. And you guessed it, it was pink inside. The other cut her's it was also pink. The waitress apologized and took the burger back to the kitchen. We waited over 30 minutes for these burgers to return with no explanation given?? The burgers here are great and highly recommended but the fries come up short. They come to you precooked and cold (stiff). They need to work on the fries and then they would have a winning combination. All in all we still recommend eating here
We have never been disappointed at Chateau Morrisette. Be sure to leave time before or after your meal to do a wine tasting. The grounds are beautiful, the people are super friendly, and the food at the restaurant is fabulous. If weather permits, sit outside to enjoy the wonderful view!
We brought a family friend to the winery to spend the day. We had a wonderful time at the wine tasting and the tour. Ray was our host and he was awesome. He was informative and funny and an all around great person. Thanks for an awesome time and THANK YOU RAY! :) Then we enjoyed lunch at the restaurant and went back to the gift shop afterwards for 8 bottles of select wines and jelly too !!
No issues-we come from Danville maybe 2-3 times per year. Never had a bad meal and service/wait staff always accommodating. This time we regret we could not sit outside but it was a bit windy and no outside tables available in the sun- did not want to wait for one to be available. We had a corner nook at a window and one of the best locations yet.
I have one suggestion-maybe a bit of bread while waiting for the entrees but not sure that's done at lunch. Your waiter suggested a bottle of wine ($28) which was outstanding.
We enjoyed our anniversary celebration with some friends there. My husband had brought his guitar along and we took our wine out on the deck after lunch and he entertained our group playing music. Folks all around joined us and it was a blast. Made some instant friends.
While service was adequate, we were disappointed. First of all, several items on the menu were not available ( of course, it was what we had planned on ordering). Once we were seated and the waiter arrived he was pleasant and tried. We had reservations, and when we checked in on time, the hostess proceeded to seat several walk in customer who arrived after us. This place does not live up its reviews and I would not recommend it.
To the Staff at the restaurant - Chateau Morrisette
We love Chateau Morrisette and come here a much as possible. We have been coming here for over 17 years. The food is always great and the wait staff and managers are very helpful and gracious throughout our visit. They also give us our space so we can talk and have private moments with our conversation. We do not rush in and rush out we savor every minute of our visit which is usually 3hrs each time. We travel many miles to get here so we are going to enjoy the time.

My wife and my granddaughter had the shrimp and grits and they were pleased with their meals. Personally, I think $22.00 for six shrimp and a few grits is a little too expensive. I had the lamb and mushroom omelet with a cup of soup, and neither were remarkable. Both were bland and the quantity of the soup was skimpy. Service I'd rate as average and our waitress was not particularly friendly. This is the forth or fifth time we have eaten here, but my first review. We have a place there in VA but live elsewhere.
We have frequented here several years for our anniversary and love this area. I ordered the vegetarian risotto which was delicious, just a very small portion for the $28. My husband ordered the pork chop which was HUGE and he was very happy with the preparation.
The food was superb and I would say some of the best lunchtime food we have ever eaten.
The service by the server was fantastic.
We were fortunate that we had time, however, when we arrived we found that they were telling people without reservations that the wait was one to one and a half hours. We asked if we could sit outside and were told it was full. Fortunately we had a reservation and after 15 mins were shown to our interior table. To our surprised only half the tables were oppupied inside and out.
We heard the table next to us complain about the length of time it took their order to arrive. Our food also took a very longtime. As I said we were happy to take our time. But, they have a problem somewhere. We heard kitchen to small, a party of 14 got us behind, etc etc.
This restaurant food quality was superb, the table server was fantastic but they have a problem they need to fix.
We had reservations for 2PM and got in about 2:15. The server was super nice, but timing was lacking. It was about 10 minutes after being seated before a server came to our table. We heard the front desk turning people away that didn't have reservations, but there were many empty tables.
One family of 4 that came in before us, didn't get their food until WAY after we did.
2 tables that came in after us, were served before us. They had sandwiches, we had sandwiches, so it wasn't what we ordered.
We also observed a table of 2 be seated by us and it took about 15 minutes before a server came to their table. They were getting frustrated.
Love the winery, but not sure what was going on at the restaurant.
Normally we have a delicious lunch at Chateau Morisette. This time we found the food not very good. Both vegetarian dishes were underseasoned and quite plain. The lamb meatloaf was very salty. Our only other disappointment was the restaurant was out of Chateau Morisettes Cabernet Sauvignon...we were told unapologetically that we could go purchase it at the winery. They did not offer to assist us in any way.
We sat outside and it was a beautiful fall day! You can not beat the view. We hope the food improves on our next visit.
