Chat American Grill Ratings and Reviews
The food was very tasty (blackened salmon/quinoa/avocado/onions) and beautifully presented.
The server was attentive, in general, but also with respect to my friend's food limitations (made suggestions).
Overall staff experience was positive. Checked in a number of times, but not overly intrusive.
Not in this area, frequently, but would see it as the place to enjoy lunch with friends.
My wife and I had a great time at chat
The service was right on target friendly and prompt
Great vibe and ambiance
Food was prepared to perfection
The Miram glazed tuna was perfect
The spaghetti squash great

My husband and I had dinner with another couple on New Years Eve. First we had a drink at the bar, drinks were well made and served promptly. For dinner we were seated at a spacious table, the restaurant was lively but not too noisy. We shared calamari and tuna tartare, both were very good. The tartare was a unique preparation with plantain chips and a soy dressing. For the main course we had the surf and turf special which was outstanding, one person had a skirt steak, and one person had the orchiette with broccoli rabe and hot sausage. For dessert we shared a flourless chocolate cake and creme brûlée, both of which tasted homemade and very fresh. Our server was polite and knowledgeable. We stayed quite a while and did not feel rushed at all. At midnight we were given party favors (hats and noise makers) as well as a champagne toast. We went to the bar to watch the ball drop. It was busy, and celebratory. Everyone in my party had a magnificent evening and we plan to return soon.
Went with my family for Christmas Eve dinner. The tables were placed so closely together that it was difficult to sit down and we could hear other groups’ conversations loudly. They sat us without menus and then we had to wait. Didn’t tell us specials until we were about to order and we had to ask them if there were any. Server didn’t memorize the specials and couldn’t pronounce most of the words. Mixed up drink orders, tried to blame us, then tried to pawn off their mistake on us. Not happening.
Food - best part of husband’s pasta was broth at the bottom of the bowl. So sad. The chicken in mom’s paella was flavorless but the rice was way too salty. Everyone else’s food was ok - nothing to write home about, especially for the price. Even though their menu and website state that they’re very accommodating to food allergies - they’re not. Very difficult. Server didn’t know what was in any of the food. Said she’d ask the chef and never came back to tell us what he said.
Ruined my Christmas Eve dinner. Will never go back again. Do not recommend.
First time I've enjoyed a meal here. I am not a fan of Chat American nor its sister restaurant in Larchmont, but went during Hudson Valley Restaurant Week and gave it another chance. While the base menu remains overpriced for mediocre food, I must admit to enjoying the HVRW meal. I had mussels, chicken pallard, and the Chat Bits for dessert. The mussels were excellent, with a spicy broth. The chicken was good, with a lot of nice salad ingredients on top. The chicken was nicely grilled, but pounded a bit too thin so that it was very dry. The Chat Bits aren't noteworthy. My dining partners loved the lobster tacos, something we've always felt was a very good item when we've eaten here in the past. One had the hamburger and gave it high marks, while the other had the spaghetti squash, and was pleased.
While the food is nothing to right home about, when the weather is nicer the outdoor patio is pleasant. As for parking, it can be difficult depending upon time of day and day of the week.
I have never had a bad meal at Chat since they opened. whether you are interested in a quick light bite or want to dine on a full meal, steak, pasta, fish, you wil not be disappointed. Delicious food, reasonable prices and a Great staff ; they always go out of their way to accommodate you.
They were throwing a huge party in the main room so we were seated in the far back corner. It was dark and airless. Our server had a very thick accent making it difficult to understand the specials. That being said, our food took over an hour. The table next to us came and left and we still hadn't gotten our food. No apologies or explanation.
Our drinks were watered down (Bloody Mary tasted like tomato water).
When the food finally arrived many dishes were not edible and we had to send them back. The mac and cheese was watery, the spring rolls were greasy and the meatballs were chewy. Pretty much every dish tasted like bad diner food. Overall a totally disappointing meal from start to finish.
come here often. Order cocktails on most occasions. This time the bartender was very skimpy on the liquor and used way too much fruit juice! Result we taste very little liquor and much too much fruit juice. Your price $ 14.00 for fruit juice is to use your own words Outstanding!!
Staff was overwhelmed. Didn’t bring things when requested (marinara for Calamari, Parmesan for pasta).
Moved us to a table that didn’t have one seat back to main thoroughfare (after manager bumped into my wife’s chair along with 7-8 other people), and current waiter said we’d need to place a new order with new waiter.
Didn’t bring me water at new table. Didn’t ask me if I wanted another drink at new table.
Completely unprofessional. A shame because we’ve had good experiences there. They were overwhelmed tonight.
My salmon was good. Roasted root veg was good.
Dined outdoors for a group lunch, perfect environment, staff was wonderfully accommodating, correcting any concerns. Egg white omelette with lox and asparagus exceeded expectations. Croissants and muffins very delicious. We were quite impressed with the largeness of the mason glasses for our beverages.
My major objection is that I smelled cigarette smoke. Customers smoked outside and the door was left open. If I go back I will request a table away from the front door. I did make a reservation and was there on time so I should have had a better table. Disappointed with that!!!
Gathered with friends on the patio for a fun summer dinner. Service was good, appetizers ordered (calamari and spinach dip) were good. Unfortunately my lobster roll (a special for the evening) was very briny tasting....an unusual thing for fresh lobster, making me wonder if it was frozen and not rinsed properly or just too much salt added. Staff is very pleasant.
