Lots of character, downtown Santa Barbara. Well healed crowd. Good Italian. Lasagna was solid. Chicken parma was ok. Service was very slow, with the excuse that a bus boy did not show. Waiter argued with us when we took exception to her order of service... salad, then drinks, then main course within 5 mins of salad. Weird.

One of my favorite Santa Barbara restaurants. The food never disappoints. On this trip it was a Saturday night and they were very busy and a tad short on staff. Still a great meal. Calamari Picatta is tremendous.

I usually don’t write reviews but in this case they really deserve the kind words. We made reservations for 8 people using OpenTable and indicated it was a birthday dinner. As soon as we walked in the the hostess asked me who’s the birthday guest. We ordered appetizers and main courses, the food was exceptionally delicious. I wasn’t expecting this level of service and food from this place, but luckily I was wrong. Best experience I had in Santa Barbara in a long time. Bravo!!!

Despite living in Santa Barbara for many years, I had never visited this restaurant. Sad that I was missing out! This is a great "special occasion" spot. Reminded me of the many old, established Italian restaurants that we favored while living in midwest/Chicago. Ambience was great. Food was fantastic. The owner checked in on us. Our only complaint was that our waitress, while competent, was curt and pretty chilly. This, of course, affected the whole experience. For such a warm and friendly spot, this was the one letdown.

We are SB locals and this was our first visit. The traditional decor of the place reminds us of some of our old favorites in New York and New Jersey. Cocktails were nicely prepared and served. I had a filet mignon and my wife had the salmon. Both were excellent. The service was prompt and pleasant. We will return.

We ate dinner recently at Chase. Food was good, but not great. Nice Italian meal. Lots of food. Nice ambience.

Perfect in every way!!! Recommended to us by the staff at Fess Parker and we loved it. On our anniversary get away to Santa Barbara we were looking for a warm, romantic place with great food and excellent wine list and this is it. We were seated promptly in a cozy corner booth by the friendly host. Our server Noelle, was excellent in every way. She expertly opened and served our wine and from there it just got better. The food was the best Italian we have had anywhere!! It reminded me of how my Italian grandmother made hers. We were in heaven. We will be back with our friends. Thank you for the best anniversary in years.

The restaurant host (he MAY have been the owner) made us feel very welcome.

My only complaint would be that, for parties of 6 or more, they automatically include a 20% gratuity.

Thank you to the staff at Chase Restaurant Bar and Grill for helping make our mom's 75th birthday very special. The service, the food, the ambience....everything was perfect!!

We had a terrible experience! In spite of trying to get someone to wait on us, it was one-half hour before anyone came to our table. We explained we were needing to make it to the theater and needed to order. The food came late and was cold. Our drinks were never ordered, until we asked again for them. The drinks came after we had eaten our first course. After what should have been drinks or the meal “comped,” we were insultingly charged a 20% tip because their were six of us. A formerly wonderful place that has sadly gone down-hill.

I normally enjoy a meal at Chase. However, this time the service was bad, the waiter was rude, our orders were messed up, and the food was over-cooked. Unfortunately, even though I usually like Chase and love the Christmas decor, we will not be returning any time in the near future.

Everything was excellent as usual. This is old school Italian and we loved it. My wife had the Chicken Parm and said it was the best she has ever had and my Shrimp Scampi was really good too. We were seated exactly on time and the server did a wonderful job of taking care of us. My checklist is this: atmosphere - cozy, inviting and romantic with great nostalgic music, service- helpful and engaging, food- the best Italian we have had, drinks- great martinis, overall- a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this place.

After many years eating at The Chase, we found food remains tasty, with some specialties and many reliable Italian staples. Especially good are White Bean appetizer, Calamari and Marinara Sauce. Service has fallen noticeably in past year - e.g., lackluster greeting and servers, no name for server, no Specials information, no offer of ground pepper, and not touching base with our party for other requests. We are disappointed!
