Chart House - Waikiki Ratings and Reviews
Chart House locations around the country have certainly had there ups and downs. This store looking out over the canal boat basin in Honolulu was very good. We were nicely greeted and escorted to our balcony side table. Service was well paced, friendly and efficient. The server was happy to split a caesar salad and prime rib - and embellished the serving of asparagus on his own. Nice wine list that had some affordable bottles. We had a Decoy Cab. Validated parking was $5.00
Overall a very pleasant end to a week in Hawaii.
Restaurant is a little dated, but the view and service was fantastic. The menu selections were wide and tasty and spanned from steak to seafood.
We made reservations (obviously), we were greeted promptly, seated promptly to a romantic table overlooking the Waikiki Marina, and service began immediately with full explanation of special menu items and special dinner offers.
Both my wife and I enjoyed our meals, the view, and our waiter (Alan). Given the opportunity return to Waikiki, we will return to The Chart House.
Visiting Honolulu and The Chart House was recommended. Went at sunset and was seated immediately, beautiful table with harbor view, and friendly attentive staff. Maybe the best Prime Rib I have had, and my wife's fresh fish was phenomenal. Good wine selection, and will return next visit to Honolulu. Highly recommend!!!!
Been going for years, and always welcoming and comfortable. To loud and no booths like in the passed. The food was not memorable. Maybe it was due to being in Honolulu that make it seem so rushed and uncomfortable, however I will try other locations. My favorite one was Santa Barbara or Data point. Thanks for everything else over 30 years.
We had relatives from Okinawa visiting and had a party of seven people. Five people ordered the special New York steak dinner for $35 per person which included soup or salad, selected entrees and selected desserts. The steaks were ordered from one medium rare, three mediums and one well done. All five said the steak was not good - tough and not tasty. All five were not happy and disappointed. We know it was on special, but maybe they can serve a smaller portion and better cut of meat. We are so sorry we brought them here and wish we had just spent the money and had gone to Hy’s Steak House where we are never disappointed and the quality of their food is well worth the price. I wouldn’t even say you get what you pay for because the steak served at Chart House would not even be good if it was half the price.
We got there and new immediately it was not the CHART HOUSE restaurants we new. This location has NO connection with the Chart House chain although the restaurant is on the waterfront most of the tables have no views and the back tables are very warm. The food for half of our group was on the money but the half that had the swordfish found it over cooked and like rubber. When we called the waiter over (never came on his own) he apologized but did nothing for them.
It would be questionable if we would return.
They should advise when booking a reservation that they are not part of the Chart House chain instead of living off their reputation.
We did have a reservation but still had to wait over an hour for a table that was "near" the front instead of being in the back of the restaurant.
Excellent food and drinks! We were on vacation in Waikiki and saw this place as we were walking by. I made reservations on open table and was lucky enough to find an opening at the time/day we wanted. This Chart House is not part of the Chart House Group you find in Daytona Beach, Fl. It is a stand alone location. I ordered the filet and a side of shrimp. Filet was very good, shrimp was amazing! I thought the shrimp tasted like lobster. They were so big that I had to cut them up on smaller pieces just to eat them! I would definitely go back just for the shrimp. Everyone else in our group ordered different items. We all seemed pleased with our choices.
The special menu was great, will definitely come back for dinner. Not good if you have trouble with stairs. Bathroom is a flight and another short flight of stairs down and then coming back up the stairs are blocked by people waiting to get seated so if your balance is not great this can be dangerous. If there is an elevator it is not clearly marked.
Sat night had an excellent older waiter who was quick and brought a replacement lobster when I mentioned that it looked more the size of Langastino than Maine lobster. Sun night had a young lazy waiter. Tuna was awesome fresh and tasty. My sister had the sizzling Sicilian steak med rare both nights, it is from bar menu only but they served in dining room. Huge portions and delicious with onion and mushroom. Band in bar was OK. Sean bartender is the best. Prices reasonable for Hawaii, great harbor views, I reserved the liani tables each night for best view.
Wonderful food. I had the $58 dinner which included appetizer, soup or salad, entree, and desert. I had crab stuffed mushrooms served on mash potatoes, Cesar salad, crab stuffed shrimp (4) with jasmine rice and asparagus, and creme brulee for desert. It was all yummy and I took some home and shared with my honey because the portions were so large. They also have a fixed price dinner for $35 which includes soup or salad, entree, and desert.
I suspect the restaurant is typically a great place to gather & dine; however, our experience was not a good one. The dining room area(s) was very hot upon walking in and unbeknownst to us until after we were seated, there had been some sort of generator fuel (diesel) leak in an office space above the restaurant and the fuel was still spewing down along the front of the dining area. The fire dept was actively working to resolve/contain the leaking fuel and the restaurant obviously opted to maintain operations despite the fuel leaking from above. In fact, they chose to simply close the balcony windows in an effort to prevent the fuel from spewing into the dining area. Unfortunately, closing the large windows/sliders caused the interior of the restaurant to heat up significantly. Even our would-be waiter was amazed (a bit peeved actually) that management hadn't closed the restaurant under the circumstances. Anyway, it was too uncomfortable for us to remain in the dining area, and, coupled with the fact there was an ongoing emergency situation on the other side of the glass, we decided to leave the restaurant and go elsewhere for our special dinner (was our honeymoon trip). Perhaps we'll give them another try if/when we're in the neighborhood again.
We wanted to have a nice dinner on our last night in Hawaii. My husband and I had stumbled upon their late night happy hour and fell in love with the food. Since Charthouse was within walking distance of our hotel we decided to go back. The food was fantastic. Our server was nice. However the place where we were sitting wasn't so great. We were sitting on the balcony area and placed next to a very noisy large family. They were so loud we could barely hear our server. There is a busy street on that side of the restaurant and there were a ton of buses streaming by. People on the street were smoking cigarettes. It really killed the romantic mood of the evening. But that isn't the fault of the restaurant. Bad timing I guess. If you're looking for a romantic evening, perhaps sit somewhere a little quieter and away from the balcony area.
