Charr an American Burger bar Ratings and Reviews
Went here for Restaurant Week. Had some of the best wings ever. Not Buffalo, more sweet and spicy. I could eat these all day. The burgers are hand made patties. Fry's were nice and crispy. Overall a great place to gather have a bite to eat, be with friends, have some drinks. Oh, and I love the music. Oldies, and at a volume where you can enjoy the music and yet still talk with the others at the table. I will definitely be back.
Not the best experience. Artichoke dip was overly oily. Burger was not well made. Dry and overcooked. Bun was hard. Fries were warm at best and flavor was not hat good. Poorly made cocktails. Apple cobbler was good but first bite, found an apple stem so threw off the rest.
Bathrooms were not clean. Fixtures had not been finished. Chipped paint and wood all over the restaurant.
Not what I expected from a Phx Restaurant Week suggestion. Long drive from north Peoria for a bad experience.
Loved this place! Very cozy and fun, went on a weekend for an early lunch, not crowded when we got there but picked up after. Great variety of craft beers on tap, the food choices were really cool, I got truffle fries and a salmon burger with an appetizer of fried pickle chips...yum!
Has all the makings of a good dinning experience; good food, good ambience and good beer selection. However the service sucked from a few important points: 1) Their menu is outdated to the point where items are no longer available but still listed on the menu (use a Sharpie, it's not pretty but at least the item(s) are no longer listed. 2) Asked for a chocolate milk for my daughter, she said it tasted funny, I tried it and it tasted funny. We told the waitress, she said that how they make it. I'm pretty sure my daughter is a chocolate milk expert and has never returned a glass before and if it was just her, maybe I could accept that. But I said it tasted funny as well, as in the milk has gone bad funny. Terrible response. 3) The order was completely wrong. My wife ordered a burger on a lettuce wrap with a side salad, she got fries and a bun; I ordered a burger with a bun, I got one with lettuce (sure they swapped it, but our burgers couldn't have been any different). So needless to say the food was good, the service was pathetic and I usually let poor service go, but three issues in on visit cannot be overlooked. Sorry Charr an American Burger Bar, you failed in my books.
Had a friend in town for the evening and this was not a part of town we were familiar with. Wanted a casual place with some Gluten Free options. There were a lot of mixed reviews but we had a great experience. The server was super friendly and the food was fantastic!
We've been to Charr before and it's been really good. Unfortunately this time it was a Friday night during restaurant week and it was far too busy for them to handle. We didn't have one specific waitress, our appitizer came out at the same time as our food, our burgers and fries were okay at best and my mothers card was charged twice. We would have had better meals and service at 5 Guys. Not sure that I'll ever go back unfortunately.
My sister and I were looking for a not-too busy lunch spot for Mother's Day for lunch before a movie. After looking around the area, I saw this place was rated fairly well and booked it. The hostess led us to a booth we asked for in the corner and after that the service went downhill-- there were only about 5 teenage girls in the place and they kept disappearing into the kitchen area. Not enough time on the floor checking up on patrons. The food was awesome, however!! I was surprised since the place seemed to be very simple and no-frills. They have a good selection of items. I tried to be healthy and do a turkey burger, my mom did a Phoenix burger and my sister did a buffalo chicken sandwich. My sister said hers was ok-- but the burgers were very juicy and full of great flavors. I think it was probably the best turkey burger I've had-- it was healthy without "tasting healthy". As far as ambiance there really isn't any. It's high glass windows in an open, modern layout with just a lot of merlot painted walls and strings of bulb picnic lights strung about. Nothing fancy, and they could certainly use some decorating help. The servers were nice enough-- just never around. But overall I would say I would come back just for the food. The sweet potato fries are great, as are the burgers.
Great service, great food! The fries are addicting, I would go back just for the fries! I had the beet salad which was just the right portion and delicious. My friend had the French Onion Soup which he thought was very good as well. Main course I had the skirt steak dinner which was cooked perfectly, tender and juicy. My friend had the Buster Burger, a combination of ground bacon and beef. It was huge and just a great tasting burger. Did I mention how good the fries were? Slightly seasoned with truffle...yum! Will definitely go back again!
My server was prompt helpful and attentive. She knew the first dish soup was not up to par and she took it off my bill. I appreciated that. The Burger was rather dry, not tasteful and the bun did not complement. The Beer was great. Stout.
Went to check out the burgers. Was pretty tasty. Actually all of our food was. Service was nice and polite but not very attentive at times. Must have been early, not a lot of folks were dining but was a nice change from the other gourmet burger places. Here's to trying new spots around town.
