Underwhelming for the price. Lovely setting but staff are overstretched and the food is overpriced.
Quiet Tuesday night. Given a dark table in corner made darker still when lights were over dimmed. Difficult to read menu. Service VERY patchy - spent a lot of time trying to attract attention whilst bar team studiously avoided eye contact and tapped away at phones. GRRR. Food pretty good, pricing ok. If they pick up the service levels could be a cracking place.
Fantastic value lunch menu. Food, wine and atmosphere that you expect from a ££££ restaurant, with a bill that you could easily run up in Pizza Hut. I would not hesitate to recommend it.
Rather too much raw onion with octopus starter but Manager appreciated the feedback as this was a new dish. Slightly too much butter in my risotto but otherwise excellent. Great evening overall. Outside area looked very welcoming too.
Great it’s just a tad bit expensive
Made reservation. Gave credit card. Travelled hour across London. We walk in and they said we are closing early. Disappointing.
Stunning food, freshly prepared and of a high quality. Well worth the price and another visit to try more from the menu
Friendly service, not to fussy but attentive at the right times
The food was delicious and Charlotte’s has a good vibe, but there were a few things which were quite disappointing and undermined the experience a bit, eg being sent to the bar on arrival because people were still eating at our table, only to be shown to a table which was empty all along 10mins later; finding out on a Saturday night that over half the starters on the menu had already gone; waiting for 45mins for our main course; being served the wrong pudding despite the waitress writing it down twice.
First time here, not going to return. Really slow service and it wasn’t very busy, starters were pretty poor and the main (ribeye) was tough meat. Ambience didn’t feel very good for a quiet dinner with my wife, tables are very close to each other to pack people in. Not impressed, though I would say that this same chain’s restaurant in Turnham green is a thousand times better, so would still go there.
Food very tasty, but... my chocolate pudding was overcooked and a bit dry!
Very nice environment. Great food and reasonably priced. Very much to be recommended.
Had a pleasant time, sweet potato gnocchi itself was slightly chewy which was a battle - otherwise everything was delicious, well presented and the staff were good. The only detractor is probably the industrial vibe coming from the exposed piping and air conditioning which ruined the atmosphere slightly
Food was really tasty as usual. However, we needed to wait quite a while in between starters and mains.
Lovely quiet Monday so a good chance to chat without too much background noise.
Great food and service
Service v slow....
Nice ambience, average food but slightly overpriced.
Good for after work dinner with a few mates. Food was well cooked and presented, but a bit unimaginative. We had a high table with stools opposite the kitchen which was a bit bright and felt sort of temporary.
They were clearly training up new staff, but that meant that the experienced staff were run off their feet and doing pretty much everything - so service got worse as it got busier. Most of the food was okay, but one portion of the beef Sunday roast was undercooked and gristly, but we eat it as it would've taken even longer to if we'd complained about it. In general, the food is good and we enjoying going, but it wasn't at the standard we would normally expect - we gave up on dessert in the end and just paid and left.
Been twice, excellent
Will go again
Staff, food, atmosphere excellent
Fine, but not great. Service really patchy. Probably 50% of the dishes I've tried have been good
Food was smashing, ambience was good, service was patchy although the manager was excellent in helping redress this. A tiny bit of effort is required with redecoration.... it’s not difficult guys, invest in some sandpaper.
Really poor service, average food but great cocktails.
This was an awful experience of Sunday roast. If you are looking for the full trimmings in terms of vegetables do not go here! The vegetables consisted of 1 roast potatoe, 1 carrot, 1 Yorkshire pudding, kale and cauliflower cheese. When we asked for an additional potatoe each we were told that we would need to pay for a portion which is 4 potatoes. When I asked if I could change my cauliflower cheese for a potatoe or carrot I was told no. I enquired why there was only 1 carrot and 1 potato and was told that’s what we do. A terrible experience.
The evening was very pleasant and the food well prepared and served. I have a couple of niggles:
The menu has not changed in a long time.
The lighting was turned down to such a low level that I had to use the light in my phone to read it. This problem is made worse by the lack of contrast between the ink and the paper used in the menu.
I visit the restaurant regularly. It’s always good whether I’m having breakfast lunch or dinner. They have some very good offers from time to time. The August one was excellent, a % off your bill with no conditions or exclusions.
Unfortunately it overlapped with a very noisy adjacent reception (Ealing Artists?). The food was excellent, albeit a bit pricey, but the service, was superb! Salma, our server was extermely helpful, responsive and very pleasant manner. It was a birthday party so for dessert they have brought a little candle on the dessert so the birthday boy could make a wish! It was fun, pitty about the noise level.
The Waitrose was rude, we didn’t receive the drink we had requested on arrival, the food tasted ok but didn’t feel like good value. The presentation of the food should be better for the price.
I had a lovely supper at Charlotte's W5 on Monday with my husband. The food was tasty and beautifully presented. The staff were welcoming and gave us excellent service. The restaurant is tucked away behind the shops but is well worth hunting out.
Two of the meals were very disappointing - the pork (tough) and the chicken salad (tasteless). Otherwise, we had an enjoyable lunch and enjoyed the other food and wine.
Nice and friendly family environment.
Been here a few times now and a great hidden spot in Ealing.
Just a bit of a shame as we went here for a Sunday roast recently and were advised we couldn’t order the beef as it had run out so we opted for the chicken. A couple then sat next to us after we ordered and I noticed they ordered the beef, thought I must of heard wrong but then once half way through our roast chicken I see them being served the beef. Bit of a shame on the service this time but the chicken wasn’t disappointing.
The food here has always been good just experienced a few moments where managers have been rude to staff members which made us feel a bit awkward.
Good value for money with the Summer offer of 25% off but the music was a bit loud for some of us and we were all a bit disappointed with the desserts.
Quite a lot of gaps on the wine list, no Pinot Noir by the glass.
We made a big mistake choosing the W5 for dinner with old friends. We've had many lovely meals at Charlotte's Place, and the food here was also very good, and an amazing bargain on the Summer offer. However this Charlotte's is very echo-y, which made conversation a strain. Then a large crowd gathered in the narrow space behind us, for the chatting and greeting stage of a celebration, as they were going to have a birthday dinner much later. Very jolly, but it meant our chairs were continually bumped and it became virtually impossible to hear each other, disaster when you're hoping to catch up!
Great neighbourhood restaurant. Sat outside for pre-dinner drinks which was lovely. Food was delicious but service not very good. Inexperienced waitress who struggled to take quite a simple order.
The service was very poor from the start. Drinks were extremely slow and when they came the orders had been confused. The food was also a long time coming and it took forever to get sauces.
My chicken was very greasy and pretty tasteless, my husband’s salad was heavy on the beetroot and very light on the smoked salmon.
A lovely smiley young woman tried to help but she was new and spoke almost no English.
Despite informing staff that we had received an email about the summer discount this was not applied to the bill,so we waited again.
We have had equally awful experiences here somewhile ago and had hoped for better things- sadly no change.
Great location, pricey but lovely outdoor area in the summer. Attentive staff and food was also very tasty!
Charlotte's location is very nice and the atmosphere is particularly warm and relaxed, which makes it the perfect place for a romantic dinner. The night when my partner and I went, the staff was very polite, and all in all the service was very good. As for the food, the wine and the starters were of an extraordinarily high quality (the burrata was one of the best dishes we have ever had in our lives) . The desserts were also very good. The only (slight) disappointed was that we could not rate our mains as positively as the other dishes (as they were a bit cold and their quality was pretty average).
All in all, we were very satisfied with the experience and we will surely come back.
We haven't been here for a while as feel it's overpriced for the quality, but received a special offer so thought we would give it another go. The waitress wrote our food order down while looking over her shoulder at something else. The starters were mediocre. The mains (both medium cooked steak) were extremely disappointing, one half was well done, the other half was rare, in both cases. I suppose you could argue that meets in the middle, but I don't think that expecting a chef to be able to cook a steak evenly and to order is too much to ask; its a fairly basic skill that even I can achieve. The chips were inedible. The waitress did cursorily ask if everything was OK but didn't slow down as she walked past the table so had to stop and come back when I said it wasn't! Half the wine on the wine list was crossed off, perhaps they are winding the place down? I was a regular of the original Charlotte's and find this extremely disappointing quality and customer service in comparison. She did take one of the mains off the bill which was appreciated but it spoiled our evening and if I had realised that the discounted summer offer meant discounted service and standards, I wouldn't have bothered!
It is normally a great place to eat but the food was fairly average more a sort of mix of Cote and Bill's but with higher prices. The atmosphere was unusually flat as well.
I can only think that it was the Friday before Bank Holiday as it was quieter than usual.
I have liked this place since it opened so will try again but this time wasn't exceptional. Staff were pleasant enough.
Curiously unseasonal menu serving winter greens and quince in high summer. Quantities all over the place so one massive and one appropriate starter. Ditto main course. Veg so al dente as to be problematic. There are other better cheaper places to eat. Nice atmosphere.
