Charlotte's - Newtown Square Ratings and Reviews
Charlotte's is a wonderful restaurant. The servers are very friendly and attentive; the food is outstanding (I had the lobster ravioli)! It is very crowded with tables closely packed together (we were there on a Saturday evening with reservations); the sound level was quiet, nevertheless. A great place for a casual dinner and for a great meal!
The restaurant was warm and inviting. The staff from the moment we walked in were exremely nice and attentive. I am a picky eater and our waitress could not be more accomodating. My prime rib eye steak was the best I ever had. My husband raved about the blackened swordfish. I also have to mention the creme brulee was excellent. The prices were a little more than I expected but that won’t deter us from coming back. It was well worth it.
Returned after a lengthy hiatus for a New Year's Eve dinner. What a great neighborhood surprise! We were seated promptly in a area of the restaurant we requested. Nora, our waitress was attentive and timed the meal very well. Salad was a crisp delicious medley on a chilled place. Had fish and beef entrees which were done very well. Portions were generous. Menu choices were limited and there was only one potato and vegetable choice.
Shared a dessert and had a great evening. We will return. Value for price is wonderful.
My husband and I enjoy each and every time we dine at Charlotte's. We are always treated special and the food is excellent. Service is exceptional and our favorite waitress is Melanie. Each time we dine we ask for Melanie because she knows what we like and makes sure we are satisfied and happy with our choices. Often we take our friends with us and they always come back.
Hadn't been to Charlottes in 18 years, went back for a friends gathering.
What a pleasant surprise to find that it was how I remembered it. Comfortable atmosphere. Comfort food done right. excellent seafood choices, and reasonable prices, all great reasons to check out this long in the tooth classic!
Cream of chicken rice soup like flavorful velvet - always served hot. Salad crisp with wonderful homemade dressing (blue cheese). Rib eye with onions and mushrooms was grilled exactly to order, tender, juicy, very flavorful. Brussels sprouts with bacon and onion superb. Only restaurant we frequent where rum raisin ice cream is served. Our server, Nora, was informative, attentive, and helpful in every way. Delightful meal.
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner on a recent Friday evening. This is not a hip new spot but a long-standing fixture in the community. It's easy to see why. Nora, our server, was outstanding and all of the food we ordered was excellent. Nice beer, wine, and cocktail list. Live pianist was very pleasant and not overbearing. Finally, prices were reasonable and portions were generous. I can't think of any negatives. We'll definitely be back.
I made Open Table reservations and arrived about 10 minutes before my wife, who was meeting me after work. The staff had one of our favorite booths reserved. The promptly brought bread, oil, and a the marinated zucchini & tomato dish they serve complimentary. They showed my wife to the table. We dine at Charlotte's often and have held several large-group parties here. We are very familiar with the menu and their specialty dishes. Looking to try something different, we both chose the Dungeness crabs with Old Bay seasoning. The plates held 2 lbs. each. They were absolutely delicious. Our server, Theresa, brought a bowl for shells, lobster bibs and crackers, and shellfish forks. We both brought enough home to enjoy the next night. Jimmy, the owner, always stops at the table to say hello and make sure everything is okay. Everything was very okay and usually is. We will continue to be regulars at Charlotte's.
We have been to Charlottes often, just a few miles from where we live. They have a huge menu selection, food is always presented well and excellent, fresh. We often ask for the same server. People/staff are friendly. Great cocktais from the bar....try the desserts if you have room.
What a find! This was our 2nd visit here and this time was better than the 1st and the 1st was very good. The shrimp cocktail was worth the trip but more joy to follow. My wife was in the mood for a salad not on the menu but they were more than happy to create it. We tried steamed dumplings and amazingly good. Lamb chops were yummy. Drinks were top notch. The menu is huge. There is something for everybody. Melodie our server was fantastic. We wanted for nothing.
I frequent Charlotte's often and have never had a bad experience until this past week. I was wondering if they have a new chef. If the chef is new, I would suggest hiring a different one because we will not return if the food tastes like this. The crab imperial was beyond dried out and the bottom of serving dish was crusted with burnt food. The waitress was gracious and informed the manager and they did give a free dessert but that was nothing compared to the cost of the meal. We generally get the crab imperial or the stuffed shrimp since they are so moist and flavorful but this time it was horrible.
I only visit this restaurant for special occasions like my mother's birthday, because it is close to where she lives. We went here last year for her birthday and again this year. They put a sparkler on her desert and sang "Happy Birthday" to her. Food was very good and the service was attentive. Good value and lots of displays with old crystal and such .... my mother likes that.
Fabulous food & value with the mid-week multi course specials. Being handicapped is an issue as I had to use steps to enter & exit the restaurant. I use cane but do not know what people would do in wheel chairs. If there was a ramp I did not see one. Other than this, it is a wonderful place to dine.
Early bird menu is wonderful - great value with wide choice of selections. Includes cup of soup, crisp tossed salad, entree, vegetable of choice, bread, and dessert selection. We have enjoyed a different homemade soup every time - they are all outstanding. Portions are generous. Wait staff is attentive and accommodating. We look forward each time to our next visit.
